Can you please help me out my teacher wants us to break the middle term and then find the factors can i find the 2 numbers in which we have tp break the middle term

You should do this by hand and then compare your answer to the two roots that the calculator gives you. You will notice that the roots the calculator gives you are the opposite of the numbers your teacher is asking you to find. This only works when the x^2 (x squared) term has no coefficient - just by itself without a number in front.

Good video. What if you have complex roots? Do you know any calculator that can solve a quadratic equation which has complex coefficients? I could program it in the fx-5800P, but is there any device that has it by default?

I just tried this out on the HP48GX and it was able to find the roots of (1,2)x^2 + (2,3)x + (7,7) without any issue -- I just entered in the coefficients in the vector [(1,2) (2,3) (7,7)] and hit PROOT (polynomial root) and it spit out the complex roots. I have never tried or needed this, but cool to know it was able to do it just as if I had entered real coefficients.

    If the equation contains odd
    What we should do

The point is that we want to factor out the greatest common divisor of the coefficients/constant, whether they are even or odd. For example, if the equation was 7x^2 - 21x - 49, we would want to begin by factoring out a 7: 7(x^2 - 3x - 7). Hope this helps.

    What about this equation
    3x^2-27=0
    3x square -27=0

It can definitely solve that, but it will only find one of the two solutions. Whether it finds 3 or -3 will depend on the starting value.

Better way to solve this sort of eq would be to use 991EX built-in quadratic solver, by the way.
