    save you money and headaches in the long run. the km130 and 131 are the best there is and with attachments can handle just about everything but felling and bucking big trees. they start first or 2nd pull every time even after sitting for a year or more as long as you use non ethanol and stihl oil. absolute beast of a machine my km 130 was bought the first year they came out and still runs perfect with no repairs needed at all..

    Bought my fs130r on offerup for $110. Degreased and washed it up real good and now it looks and runs like a new one. I also have a KM110 that I bought on offer up as well with 4 attachments for $400 and it too runs and looks new. I rarely buy my equipment new and save a ton of $$$$

      Those are great deals. I like buying new just because I really take care of my stuff.

      @@thetoolsman49 Same here and I like my equipment looking nice and running perfectly. I do all of my own cosmetic and mechanical work and I've became almost an expert at restoring power equipment. I bought a stihl fs76 trimmer from 1994 the other day for $20 and after around 4 hours of working on the cosmetics and mechanical part of it this trimmer it now looks and runs like it was made this year. I'm keeping it as a collectible since it's over 25 years old and looks new now.

    I run line trimmers in the brush 4 months out of the year. If you are going to be cutting thistle, or dense, tall wet grass, the more power the better. I have a Stihl fs131r loop handle, it tackles even small saplings without bogging using .105 magnum Square line. Pro tip, if you dont run wide open, and feather the throttle, along fences, you wont have to bump every 3 feet.

    If you are only using a trimmer then the 130 is overkill. You cannot bog it down with a trimmer ever. Now if you want to do some edging, bed edging, or use some attachments that take some load then the 130 is necessary. It is a monster. The only thing that slows it down is bed edging on wet ground because mud chokes it up. Once you buy one, you will throw away whatever junk you bought for $150 from lowes or menards and laugh at everyone else that you see using that stuff!

      +iliketowatchthis I agree. Even the 100 is enough. It never slows down.

      I love my KM 94 R, it's nice and light and has the solid shaft. It pretty much never bogs down in even heavy grass, but I do wonder what more power would be like. I got the double harness too (~$26), it helps out a lot and easy to get on and off.

      I've had the 130 for 4 years and put it through hell she is a ripper and I would agree with your statement although yesterday I was hitting 5 ft grass that wasn't much fun haha

    What is it with people beating the trimmer head to advance the line? Put the trimmer down, push the button, and pull the string out a couple notches by hand. It only takes a second instead of beating the shit out of a $400-$500 trimmer.

    Which one goes through line faster?

    • @HexfloMedia
      @HexfloMedia 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Line consumption is more about how you run the trimmer, not the unit itself. One sure exception is if you have a bad head, then it may keep abraiding the line, causing it to break off right where it exits the spool.

    Put the RX driveshaft and gear head on the 130 or 131 and presto! You have a 130RX.

      I think the 100 runs on high for about 45 min.

    What’s the difference in fs and km prefixes?

    • @thetoolsman49
      @thetoolsman49  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Km's have switchable attachments. You can attach a blower, broom, weed wip head, brush cutter, saw and I am sure more attachments. The fs is just a weed wip.

    • @joshuadooley181
      @joshuadooley181 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not to disagree with the author, as he is 100% correct on the difference, but you can attach any KM attachment to the FS too, you just have to remove the head from the attachment shaft and the head from your trimmer shaft and swap. You have to have a straight shaft like the FS100RX to do it, though. Will save you a lot of money vs buying the KMs. All are great machines though.

    • @wikkidme755
      @wikkidme755 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fair enough. I've been know to don the heavy saw pants here in Australia 37celcius 90% humidity summer day just so I don't catch a rock in the shin. Wonder if I might be the fool here 🤔👍
