Re the Transmission of the PM5544 Test card after closedown. Its my guess that this transmission originated from the IBA/ITA PIE rack at Crystal Palace and not LWT's south bank studio centre.
I used a triax 92 element on a rotator with band 1/3 aerials as well with a labgear amplifier. Where i am located i can receive the wrekin with that aerial which is now 10 ft off the ground at the east side of the house. I can also receive sutton coldfield,moel-y-parc,Llandonna,emley moor all the time but when there's a lift on hannington, rowridge, mendip, sandy heath, crystal palace are usually there of couse now digital has knocked out a lot of channels.
lol, 'Continental Movie' in Neon-type writing, 1980s code for 'SOFT PORN ON YER TELLY!' When I was a kid, I thought it was so exciting to see tv from different ITV regions. If I stayed with my aunt not far from Oxford, my cousin was into all this TVDX and could pick up usuable signals from, IIRC, Central, Southern and TSW. So if you didn't like the rubbish film that was on Southern, Central would have Hart to Hart or something else. I grew up in Manchester and had no clue how to get anything other than Granada, though. My cousin was very scientific lol, I wasn't. And I was only 11 or 12.
In 1980 i had an FM aerial on the chimney which i could receive ITV from the wrekin. One night after ATV closed down i notice an unid PM5544 so i thought it might be ITV LONDON. So the following day i rang them and asked if they transmitted the PM5544 after closedown and they said they didn't use it. So thats really what started me off dx-ing I have another odd PM5544 watch my next upload.
Thanks for the coments,Now as you mention it no i didn't cut out the national anthem and find it strange because i know they used to play it. The only bit i didn't record was sit up and listem because the signal faded out for a few minutes. The national anthem would have been played after the announcer said goodnight maybe it was too late.
Probably wanted to get off and go home, hence why they didn't play the National Anthem with closedown being so late. Granada has done one or two closedowns without the New Granada Theme, usually with the clock and a fade to the logo then a fade to black and the usual reminder about Independent Local Radio stations on air 24h a day and the safety reminder to "turn your set off and unplug from the socket" with a customary goodnight.
I can receive my local Granada,Moel-y-parc,The wrekin,Sutton coldfield,Emley moor all the time,I should have mentioned that i read in television mag that ITV london used the PM5544 test card. I have not seen any other region use it.
My location is 121M asl so i have the height advantage but of course the higher you are the more channels are recieved so less blank channels. It just shows how powerfull tropo reception can be.
As far as I know, LWT and Channel Television were the only ITV companies to use the PM5544 (or Test Card G as it was also known) after closedown. At the time, if this was 1983, BBC1 and BBC2 would sometimes show it instead of Test Card F (or by then Pages From Ceefax with music) during the daytime if there was nothing else on. Also by this time of course, Channel 4 had started in November 1982, but their test card was permantley ETP1, as was S4C also by this time. No other ITV companies as I say used this at night-time so this must be a rariety for sure. Thank you anyway of course!!
Forgive me, but I am a member of the Test Card Circle and have read in their journal/magazine before that this was the case. I have also read it online before on You Tube as it is something that I am avidly into. Take care!!
On 405 lines i could receive our local in band 3 was WINTER HILL CH 9,LICHFIELD CH 8,EMLEY MOOR CH 10,MOEL-Y-PARC CH 11. In band 1 our local was HOLME MOSS CH 2,SUTTON COLDFIELD CH 4. I should say i wasn't dxing at that time.
Proper years of ITV. LWT was unique and always made sure viewers enjoyed the weekend

Richard Clayderman's Ballade Pour Adeline makes lovely closedown music and puts the viewer in a relaxed peaceful frame of mind for bed.
Yes indeed too.
I wonder what was underneath that signal? I vould hear the familiar DX whistle on the sound when the film titles were rolling.
Germany possibly?

The testcard might have been generated at the transmitter after closedown.
The "Sit Up and Listen" was what was parodied by Benny Hill on one of his 1983 shows. Same music, logo and all.

Liar. The author cut it off with a video editor due to Copyright.
@@dooplissanimateRubbish, there are other closedown clips on YT incorporating the National Anthem, and they've not been cut for copyright😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Lovingly yours Helen theme from GMA 7 until 1990's

As soon as the test pattern appears, everyone at LWT starts swearing.
There's going to be quite a lot of bleeping! Bleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep!🤣🤣🤣🤣
I don't know what Hertz tone that is over the card, but it's really hurting.

I think the movie ending at the start is "Escape To Nowhere".
That testcard does also miss the small black bar in the middle
AntarcticaTelevision is correct - this is from Saturday 22nd January 1983.

Date of closedown: 22/1/83
Does anybody know what film finished at the start of the video?
Didn't they do the whole God Save the Queen thing at the end?
most lwt closedown has the british anthem but except this 1
They cut it off using some kind of video player.
Maybe due to copyright from ITV or something
Christ... I wasn't due for nearly another Year and a half when that film aired on ITV!
Shown In 1983
