JohnnyQ90 it looked like the screws might have not been long enough. Even though you had "some" thread engagement it might strip if you don't have "enough" thread engagement. There is quite a bit of pressure inside the cylinder. Also you can over cool those engines. That will not hurt them, they just won't run right.
Your work has really progressed over the years, very well done! I would really like to see you be the first to make a functional turbocharged 4 stroke nitro engine
Bailey's Garage 2 strokes actually supercharge themselves on their 'powerband', so sticking a turbo or supercharger will just restrict the airflow and it will run like shit.
I’m always astounded by what you can engineer in these videos! This one is just mind blowing really. Thank you for sharing your incredible videos with the world. Bless you 🙏 always be safe
Alessio Suppo it would be awesome to see but idk if even the big block would have enough torque to run an air compressor. Might have to hit up that dude that makes the 3D printed planetary gearboxes for rpm reduction.
Next you should build a nitro-powered generator. One way to do it would be to use the nitro engine to spin a brushless motor. Feed the motor's electrical output into a 3-phase rectifier to make it DC. Put a big high-voltage capacitor in parallel with the rectifier output for smoothing. Feed the rectifier output into a buck-boost DC-DC converter to get a constant 12V DC output. Finally feed that 12VDC into an inverter to get 240VAC, and as a demonstration use it to run some of your power tools, or a heat gun, or a heater, or a string of light bulbs. If you're interested, I can help with the electrical side.
I want you to know that I really enjoy what you do, and I wish there were more channels on similar machining/engine topics with this level of quality. Keep up the great work.
Great work. I love those little nitro engines. I used to tweak a .32 up to almost 3 HP with a home made tuned pipe, so I'm not surprised at the volume of water that little guy pushes.
Go Johnny Go Johnny You are a gift to man kind. Thank You for expanding our minds in what we can achieve. Bless you take care and may the tool and die and engine Gods keep shining upon you.
Amazing idea, also practical!:) works really well! Just wanted to mention, a 4,5cc nitro engine doesn't have 3hp. Maximum is around 1,5hp. I've been looking up actual dyno charts, since I didn't trust the numbers by the manufacturer. All 3,5cc are maximum just above 1 true hp.
Very cool build and machining skill. Pump volute and impeller design needs a lot of work. The rest of the build is top notch, but that pump was really holding the engine back in terms of output. Your nominal pump output was wayyyyyy less than the energy input supplied by the motor.
agreed new pump design maybe a reduction gear since I'm not aware of water pumps that can operate at the max speed of a small nitro engine (excess impeller cavitation could be issue at high speed)
"I like how cool the engine is sustained while running with the water head Jackie Johnny. The pumping system is needed on most boats when the electric bildge pumping system fails. I like how small the item it is due to size. Good job! Johnny," 👍
That is impressive. NICE WORK! Surprised me to see how much water it actually was able to pump. I would imagine fine tuning the impeller size and design could make it even better. Thanks for sharing
this is my first time watching a video from you, at first I thought you're a damn good engineer being able to fit all those pieces so tightly yet so well. then I saw you put a 4 sided piece in a 3 jaw chuck... I sincerely apologize if you don't have the funds, but you really should get a 4 jaw chuck. (coming from a newbie)
This is my first video from this channel and I know for damn sure that you could have made your own cooling head from the skills that I see in this video. Keep up the good work.
Never saw before metal could seem like butter!!! Lol. The talent of this man is inspiring. The brain behind each move is just phenomenal. This is almost nietzschean, the beauty of the man in action expressing himself though his art Seriously, you passion, knowledge and commitment is inspiring. It makes me want to learn and be the best at it. Next, how to make a computer at home with a piece of metal. You should build futuristic cars full size! Thanks, really.
There's already been a couple commercial versions of something similar (2 cycle instead of nitro) offered at different times. Basically an inverted weed whacker power head fitted to a blender base. One was called the TailGator and the other was called the Daiquiri Whacker.
2STROKE STUFFING 4 strokes for the win! I'm joking lol I'm just as crazy as you are about 2 strokes. I've been subscribed for a while now. Ps. That engine you made is a beast!
I’ve been watching for about 2 weeks so don’t know if you have already done this but nitro powered drill press. Your Chanel is great the stuff I’ve learned in 2 weeks on your Chanel is the equivalent to a year in middle school shot class keep up the awesome projects and congrats. 😃
Hene193 this type of model nitro engine gets most of its cooling from high air flow but since this one is mounted on a base and running under load that small water cooler won't be enough for a long period of time.. Plus it looks to hot out side in the video I could be wrong lol
The cooling water return pipe would've been better off piped into the pump suction rather than back into the high pressure side of the pump. I doubt there is much, if any, pressure differential there to achieve a decent flow of water through the cooling system. Ace wee rig though. Leagues above anything I could ever make
he's actually sing the lower pressure of the water leaving the pump housing to pull water through the cooling system. Not the most effective method, sure, but it does help with the heating. You're absolutely right, though: The return line should be on the intake line to improve the pressure differential.
oli13a you're right, the impeller is pretty basic too. I doubt the vanes are close enough to the cutwater, plus it's a open impeller. He could design his own with a closed impeller and a proper volute casing and probably drain that bucket in a few seconds.
Great stuff ! Watching the lathe work takes me back to my fitting and machining apprenticeship course over half a century ago ! Wish we had 3D printers then. Had to machine mini water pump from bronze. (went on to machine single shot pistol when the lecturer wasn't looking) Ah, memories!
After seeing this build makes me nostalgic for a movie with the likeness of name of JohnnyQ90, I implore you to build mini robots using two nitro engines one for each track. stationary little articulation to make it an amazing build.
i imagine if you routed the exhaust out a near by window with some hose after the muffler, it wouldn't be overbearingly loud lol. still not practical on fuel costs but hey it'd be wild
would be cool. But would not increase the efficiency compared to a regular electric pump. Moving water faster is not the issue, getting the heat of the chip in to the water is the issue.

JohnnyQ90 gearbest are fraud and will charge extras for shipping stuff keeping your printer and your money hostage meanwhile.
I know, but why is it bad?
JohnnyQ90 it looked like the screws might have not been long enough. Even though you had "some" thread engagement it might strip if you don't have "enough" thread engagement. There is quite a bit of pressure inside the cylinder. Also you can over cool those engines. That will not hurt them, they just won't run right.
JohnnyQ90
JohnnyQ90 hey I want to put one I'll have a new shower when I go down to the beach
That thing moves a substantial amount of water for its size !! Fantastic job
Mount it on a little raft with the intake at the front and output at the back
YESSSSS that would be so funny lol
Also make it rc
Your work has really progressed over the years, very well done! I would really like to see you be the first to make a functional turbocharged 4 stroke nitro engine
Thanks man! I need to search it a little more and see if I will make the s/c myself, or buy it from rbinnovations. We'll see ;)
JohnnyQ90 not a supercharger! I'm talking an actual miniature exhaust driven turbocharger, I have never seen it done!
Bailey's Garage 2 strokes actually supercharge themselves on their 'powerband', so sticking a turbo or supercharger will just restrict the airflow and it will run like shit.
This is Squaal this is why I stated 4 stroke in the original comment.
That not possible unless he makes an engine from scratch. You cant simply convert a 2 stroke into a 4 stroke engine.
Your vidz make me ashamed of just how little I've done with my life.

People in Houston getting creative to get the water away.
Nooo you didn't !
Sebastian the water is gone i was just in houstan
Hurricane irma boi.
Help me, I hate florida.
i live in houston, and on the west side i still cant access the airport, because the roads are flooded. so no, the water is not gone.
Sebastian people in Florida like me -_-
I've been a machinist and Gage maker for 30 years. Johnny you do excellent work with mad skills .
Man .. Seriously, that's outstanding .. What sort of specialty are you in ? Is it normal mech. engineering ?
I’m always astounded by what you can engineer in these videos! This one is just mind blowing really. Thank you for sharing your incredible videos with the world. Bless you 🙏 always be safe
Very impressive brother
I'm a maker myself...I tell you this is no ordinary works...this is art
You should try making an air compressor!
Benjamin King No Torque.
Did someone say gear down for what? :D A small colab, mayhaps?
An engine is an air and fuel compressor so link two engines together and don't put fuel in one of them. Bam air compressor
good idea but it would be very hard
Just attach a nitro engine to a small compressor, like those used in car air suspension. But it would need like a 10:1 reduction.
Wow!! That actually has a far better flow rate than I imagined it would at the start of the vid. Very well done :)
Pls, do a nitro-powered air compressor next
Alessio Suppo it would be awesome to see but idk if even the big block would have enough torque to run an air compressor. Might have to hit up that dude that makes the 3D printed planetary gearboxes for rpm reduction.
why aren't there more of this guy
the world would've been a way better place
Next you should build a nitro-powered generator.
One way to do it would be to use the nitro engine to spin a brushless motor. Feed the motor's electrical output into a 3-phase rectifier to make it DC. Put a big high-voltage capacitor in parallel with the rectifier output for smoothing. Feed the rectifier output into a buck-boost DC-DC converter to get a constant 12V DC output. If you're interested, I can help with the electrical side.
Or just use a car alternator with the proper gearing and a 12v deep cycle batter and an inverter.
Or just get a PM motor. it would work well enough with some of the other complimentary parts. Such as the BB converter.
I want you to know that I really enjoy what you do, and I wish there were more channels on similar machining/engine topics with this level of quality. Keep up the great work.
6:14: Hmmm I wonder what kind of jaws he's using on his 4-jaw.
6:19: Oh.
Great work. I love those little nitro engines. I used to tweak a .32 up to almost 3 HP with a home made tuned pipe, so I'm not surprised at the volume of water that little guy pushes.
that thing is more powerful than most well pumps

All 3,5cc are maximum just above 1 true hp.
DerKrawallkeks i have a Hpi Savage X 4.6. Hpi says it has 2.9 Hp
dega235 that's wrong also.
dega235 i just checked. Not sure what engine is in that car, but the two HPI 4,6cc engines I could find both did 1,3hp
check www.hpiracing.com/en/kit/868
dega235 sure. But that's bullshit
Really well thought out.. not to mention it pumped a much higher volume of water than I would have guessed. Color me impressed. Cheers!
this channel makes the coolest shit
things u mean?
That is funny
Fuck yea!
That's friggin impressive... WAY more output than I'd ever have guessed just looking at the finished pump 🤯
Amazing how such a tiny pump can move so much water. Nicely done!
AWE me (Man at Arms) ARE YOU THERE? XD NICE VIDEO MEN
Chris Miles same man!!!!
"I like how cool the engine is sustained while running with the water head Jackie Johnny. The pumping system is needed on most boats when the electric bildge pumping system fails. I like how small the item it is due to size. Good job! Johnny," 👍
This engine need a Turbo.
Actually a turbo for these small engines will not benefit the power it will worsen
M4ui8o8 not really, a belt driven or a pro charger like turbo would be fine
Random Hoerse it’s worth a try, got to expand for power some how
@Random Hoerse alot of 2 stroke are turboed. Just look at sleds
That is impressive. NICE WORK! Surprised me to see how much water it actually was able to pump. I would imagine fine tuning the impeller size and design could make it even better. Thanks for sharing
make a nitro powered roller skates or skate board johnny
This thing belongs in a Museum!...BRAVO!

Hey, Johnny! Can you made a home-made turbine for car? It will be very intеresting!
I can't believe how successful that pump was that's insane thumbs up from me.
why johnny why

“4.5cc, 3.0 Hp” are you sure about that mate 😂😂😂
I'm wondering about that also haha
tis be the truth, I think I found the engine too. just little torque www.aliexpress.com/item/32795451419.html
my mistake I think this is actually it www.amazon.com/Sport-Two-Stroke-Glow-Engine/dp/B00IQ7OAVE
impressive..it would cost me almost 19.99 at home depot to do this at 1000gph..you just saved me 20 bucks
Hey Johnny make a nitro powered blender
There's already been a couple commercial versions of something similar (2 cycle instead of nitro) offered at different times. Basically an inverted weed whacker power head fitted to a blender base. One was called the TailGator and the other was called the Daiquiri Whacker.

That has surprisingly high water pressure, nice work. :D
Love it!

Wow..! I'm really impressed about the amount of water this small thing moves. Nice build quality btw..
JohnnyQ90
you should ad a small noels at the end of the pipe to make it in to a water cuter
MRswagone bruh yk how stupid this sound
This is the coolest H²O pump I've ever seen and it has really high pressure too!
*final pump has 3 fins*, A R E Y O U S U R E A B O U T T H A T

Small scale Jet Ski in the making! That's incredible work!
Could you mount it into an rc boat?
that's pretty neat , I was surprised at how well it works ,moves a lot of water
thats pne powerfull little pump..
You have the best image and camera work on the net!
A real joy to watch.
Why nitro? Why not something like a 4 stroke trimmer motor. Gasoline is a lot cheaper than nitro.
Power density and simplicity. Nitro motors are very compact for the power that they produce, which is beneficial in these situations.
Nice build, and very nice detail except for the exhaust. J/K the details in the pump build where absolutely beautiful great work.
can you post a link for the cooling head ?
Great stuff ! Watching the lathe work takes me back to my fitting and machining apprenticeship course over half a century ago ! Wish we had 3D printers then. Had to machine mini water pump from bronze. (went on to machine single shot pistol when the lecturer wasn't looking) Ah, memories!
Can you make an rc engine supercharger please?
Eden Frawley yes!!
Eden Frawley look up rb inovations supercharger 😆 got one off these and they are only styling no more hp are gained by them tho
ever tried to make a little bit more back pressure in the exhaust so the air doesnt just go thru the engine from a port to the other
That puts out a good amount of water! Get 1000000 more of these whipped up, and shipped to texas!
Leaking? JB Weld is your answer
After seeing this build makes me nostalgic for a movie with the likeness of name of JohnnyQ90, I implore you to build mini robots using two nitro engines one for each track. stationary little articulation to make it an amazing build.
Watching you working at the lathe also reminds me of the movie Chain Reaction.
Imagine using that for a pc liquid loop xd
XD Yeah, let's see your $1000 pc case muffle that noise!
I never said it would be practical xd
or quiet

Horn boring bars are the Don! Always give a nice bore. Also, try heli-coiling plastic parts - loctite them in and you can get a nice strong thread.
Nitro jigsaw please!!
The bearing insertion needs to be in one of those "Most Satisfying" compilations
+johnnyq90 Nice job! I did not think that 3D printed parts could hold at 30000 rpm! Always the johnnyq standard!
very impressive flow actually. its almost like outdoor tap :)
Johnny do you have the cure for cancer?
DiyHack hahaha
England City Laughing your right laughing stimulates the immune system to fight of the cancer more effectively.
Smoking cigarettes
Great build as always. For improvement, perhaps you could add seal/gasket on the water pump to minimize leakage.
nitro water gun?
Yes please

Wow that was way more effective then I thought it'd be
This is JohnnyQ90: Reforged!
Great work. This is awesome! Here is a suggestion, make a quadcopter with that engine. That would be cool.
Very very powerful and we'll engineered pump. Keep up Johnny.
Stumbled on this and very nice. Why anyone would thumbs down is beyond me. They mustn't any skill to tie their own shoes.
Jonny you are one very talented person. The things you build & come up with a very impressively amazing. I totally enjoy watching your channel because I learn something. Thank you for making all these impressive videos. Your should make a turbo or a roots style blower for one of these small engines that would be awesome.
Hats off to you, Johnnyq. You are amazingly patient, and very talented.
Thanks Johnny , for keeping and inspiring us for keeping clean and tidy your workshop, I feel I follow you always
I want to travel through time showing this video to people and see at what point they're able to understand what's going on
Nice job that's a very high output for such a small pump! Luckily the 3d printed blades took it.
the engine watercooled by the power of the pump is a fucking genius idea !! i would have never think about that
Wow, this little thing has more punch than my garden pump.
That intro was funny cause I thought it would show more people wanting a nitro powered water pump but it was just one person
At first I thought you were going to make a tesla turbine pump and then when you made the impellers I was slightly disappointed.
Still awesome as hell though!
I am amazed by the quality of the things you make, and the quality of your videos. Kudos to you. I also love the fact that you are incorporating nitro RC engines in your projects! keep up the awesome work! 👍
JohnnyQ90 this was awesome. I recommend making it a water gun.
I'm so satisfied with this channel
Great job! Pretty decent volume of water too!
