My thoughts exactly when I first saw the Moon range, so refreshing to see a maker produce something a little more special/individual for a signature range. For me as much as I like the five-string I do prefer the blue without all the electrics. Great review as always Thank you 🙂👍🤟
I never thought guitars/ukuleles were 'routed out' because it is far more complicated than making backs and sides, surprised by that, but it certainly looks attractive, nice smoky colour. What a lovely instrument! Lot of moon-theme ukes out there... Thanks for the review; I appreciate some of these odd ones that I probably would never buy but are fascinating.
From personal experience: 5- (and more) stringed ukes *may* be harder to play, it depends on the player. My 47-year-old hands were fine for most ukes, I could play clean and fairly fast (not Taimane-fast obviously, but I manage). But when I ordered a 5-string Kala once, it was the only uke I've ever had to return. Exerting enough pressure on the doubled G string was just too much for me. (And no, I can't play a steel-stringed acoustic guitar anymore, either). Now when I see people playing 12-string guitars, I wonder what kind of Hulk hands they have, it's superhuman. Try before you buy! But oh wow, I would love a solid-block mahogany uke! It's my favorite wood, and unfortunately my Martin all-mahogany guitar is only gathering dust now.

Nice review on a nice signature ukulele. They did it right, making a ukulele that reflects Taimane's preferences, and style. But to do this review right, shouldn't you have ripped through some flamenco riffs, like Taimane plays? Lol
Ooooh I was waiting for one of these to appear in the UK! I did say a week or two ago I could be the first to get one and put a video on here using it and then maybe someone will give me a musical job hahaha 😂 Did you order it directly from Enya and will it be going up for sale on eBay by any chance? Great review as always Baz! Thank you!😊
Hi, love your reviews but wonder if you ever thought about doing a 'blind' review? This looks a great ukulele and thought me that 5 strings were Available! Keep on keeping on!
@@GotAUkulele Hiya , I mean when you are unaware of the make/brand till you've played it or finished your review.....might give some interesting results. A bit like blind tasting wine. Best regards Mike Smith
I like what they did here. My favorite part is that they didn't change the price just because it has her name on it. I wouldn't buy one (yet, lol) because the 5 string I play is a baritone but I am gonna put 2 low g's on it instead of a high and a low because I bet it's gonna sound great.
Mine is a slim body Bonanza in spruce. It chimes just this. Someday I'll take a look at the physics Of how this works so well with such a slim instrument
Just got one of these. Sounded too thin and felt disappointed. I changed the strings out to Worth Brown. I didn't have 2 low Gs, so i put one high/one low. It's a much better sound now. Probably wont be my favorite to play, but it's different enough to put in rotation. Other notes: the instrument is pretty heavy, surprised by how thick the body seems to be. The strap is really nice, but the bag is barely above a basic freebie.
I remember a few years ago I bought my first Enya ukulele, it was a M6 tenor. And I was so excited to have it. Then less than a year after I ended up giving it to the thrift store along with some old clothes. because I went from loving enya to not caring about enya at all. I do Iike Tiamane, but her signature uke does not impress me. But atleast it's better than those Billy Elish signature Fender ukes.
I do know what you are getting at, but then that is exactly the style of tuning that Taimane plays herself (and certainly not for me to claim her sound is not up to scratch!) - so I guess it was always going to be a double low G for a Taimane signature instrument. For me I think it improves on the Enya Feather which, as much as I liked it, didn't really sound like a tenor at all.
I have an 8 string ukulele (ortega eclipse) and it did not feel comfortable playing it,so i took the 3 strings off and now i have a 5 string ukulele with a low g and a high g and it sounds amazing.Very nice instrument but double low g is unnecessary... thank you for the review 🙏th-cam.com/users/shorts6tdaISXrx9g?feature=share

Nice review on a nice signature ukulele. They did it right, making a ukulele that reflects Taimane's preferences, and style. But to do this review right, shouldn't you have ripped through some flamenco riffs, like Taimane plays? Lol
A bit beyond my skills!
Thank you!😊
Enya sent it over a few weeks ago. They are not in the UK yet
@@GotAUkulele No I know I was wondering what you might be doing with your one!? Or does it have to go back?
@@PamelaJune spoken for I’m afraid
I've been trying to find out what kind of ukulele she plays for years
Well, she mainly plays Kamaka - but this being a double low 5 string is the same setup
My low g strings sound nothing like yours. Same make, model, options of Enya Moon. Did you change strings? All I hear is buzz.
No - stock strings from the factory. If you have a buzz sounds like a setup issue
Hi, love your reviews but wonder if you ever thought about doing a 'blind' review?
This looks a great ukulele and thought me that 5 strings were Available!
Keep on keeping on!
What do you mean by a 'blind' review?
Hiya, I mean when you
@@GotAUkulele Hiya , I mean when you are unaware of the make/brand till you've played it or finished your review.....might give some interesting results.
A bit like blind tasting wine.

I've reviewed lots that I have never seen before, but not sure how I'd get hold of one that I knew nothing about?
Prettiest uke in the world, makes my UAS itch. Cheers ☕
VERY pretty!
Love Pete's work!
@@GotAUkulele And the 2 of them are the nicest people you'll ever meet.
Can't think why they'd make a Taimane signature without two low G's considering that's what she plays and specced it.
@GotAUkulele yeah, I still would have put two low G if I had another one. Point was that the stock strings need to be changed.
I think it's excellent myself.
IMHO it exacerbates the linear drone problem that reentrant handles so nicely.
Not many 5 strings to choose from this is nice for the money 2 low gs different I ikr it
Agreed - not many at all
Looks cool and sounds good. Pity about the pickup.
Yep - would never use the effects myself
I have an 8 string ukulele (ortega eclipse) and it did not feel comfortable playing it,so i took the 3 strings off and now i have a 5 string ukulele with a low g and a high g and it sounds amazing.Very nice instrument but
double low g is unnecessary... thank you for the review 🙏th-cam.com/users/shorts6tdaISXrx9g?feature=share
The double low G is because that is precisely what Taimane plays - would be odd to not copy her own style seeing as it's her signature uke!
@@GotAUkulele agreed...im Just saying that a 5 string ukulele with one high g and one low g sounds better than two 2 low g strings ...i think lanikai makes one....
@@theukuleledriver Do you think it would be possible to swap one low G for a high G without modification?
Taimane doesn't agree with you though! Each to their own of course
@@MrDixieD yes of course...very simple...just buy a high g set of strings(the same as the ones that they use on the instrument) and use only the g string...low g on top...
I really like this one. In fact I like everything about it. I was wondering how you play the 5 string. Thanks to your review I have a better idea. I think the price is good for a well built signature. Enya is starting to get into some high-end stuff. They make great ukuleles in all different price ranges for all different people. Thanks as always for a good review. I enjoyed this one thoroughly…..DOC
Yep - indeed - and well deserved for them to be taken up by top end players
5 string is already sold out.. sorry ppl :(
I can well imagine!
you always play the same!
For a reason.... 🙄🙄
Thanks!
