I just purchased the graphite tenor Accusticplus electronics strung with low G last month as my first uke after researching for weeks and listening to others perform on it. I then purchased the "Pink" concert Enya uke for my 6 year old granddaughter who is learning (along with her piano lessons). Gets a bit confusing for her with the finger numbering issue between the two instruments!!! Challenging....Since I am an old classically trained pianist (70), I just really wanted to teach myself the ukulele. I fell in love with your videos on TH-cam and decided I didn't want to waste my money playing an instrument that didn't sound pleasing to my ear. Hence, I love my Enya for me, personally. In your demo here, I perceive the Enya Taimane Moon as having a richer slightly more resonant sound - you play so beautifully that you can make virtually any of them sound pleasingly wonderful!

I recently got the 5 string version of this ukulele for an early birthday present. Wow! Gorgeous sound, and the double low G strings really add power and depth to the music. The instrument itself is very well made, and I love the Night Sky decor. It's so me. I love your playing on it. Now, if only my playing sounded half as good, I'd be doubly chuffed! Great video.

I prefer the Makai. After this review I bought the Makai LT80 and it has beautiful resonance, projection and a sweet quality to it. A new thing they are doing since you got yours is through-soundboard stringing at the bridge. I love this way of capturing the natural resonance of the soundboard directly. I have it strung in low G with Worth brown strings. It sounds stunning.

Thank you for the thorough review, especially for comparing it to the sound of another ukulele. Both sound lovely, although I suspect Marco could make a cardboard box strung with twine sound great. I'll take the blue one please. 😄

the Enya is surprisingly resonant, most likely due to mahogany sides and back. pretty amazing for such a thin instrument. the Makai, to me, has much sweeter tone and seems like it would be a more capable performer across all genres (especially anything classical). when I hear some of your recordings on the LT-80, I'm amazed at how full and guitar-like the sound is! I just got my Makai yesterday and am about to open it up this morning 😊 thanks for the fun review and introducing me to Taimane, who I'd never heard of before.

I own Enya full solid mango, full solid mahogany, for CAD$ 350 each, amazing, and mahogany sounds darker like in this video, mango sounds brighter; all are exceptional instruments. And latest carbon ukes are very good too except that need setup. Enya is amazing.

Hi Marco. Of course you are simply making an argument for owning both or comparable ones with different sounds overall. Having more than one ukulele, guitar, harmonica or whatever, adds to the enjoyment of playing an instrument. Taimane is an extremely talented musician. Listening to her playing style and compositions, it makes sense that her choice of ukulele would be warmer and perhaps darker than you might prefer as a classical guitarist. Enya seems to produce models with a sweet, warm sound. Personally I like that and could see the Moon in my collection, if I did not have Enyas with a similar sound. A nice review. Your talent and choice of music does it justice. Thanks.

The Enya sounds more mellow, good if you want to practice quietly without too much ringing. I personally feel a lot more comfortable with thin bodies and wish there were more thinner bodies. I would go with the 4 string.

I have a tenor Makai ukulele with a slim body (model MT-70TR.) They market it as a "travel" tenor ukulele- I bought it because I liked the sound and feel of it.

To me the blue Enya sound is softer and more mellow, more guitar like than the makai or the black version that has a uke sound, brighter and more powerful. I suppose choosing one vs another depends on the piece you play.

Hey man, Great video,. been thinkin on aquiering that 5 string ukulele. Just one doubt. What if you have to change low G strings? Could you use guitarre strings or do you need specific strings to that specific Enya 5 strings? Or maybe have to get two regular ukulele low G?

Wondering where the mic placement is. The Enya tenor I ordered had very little volume, even with (electronic) volume turned up. It sits in the closet. Also, customer service was unresponsive for extra string I paid for and never received. Be aware.

It's an OK instrument for sound. But it's another world. In tech and electronics.
It's fine for amplified. Taimane has shown this!.
But Enya doesn't have the resonate overtones. The full acoustic Woody tone.
I like a tenor or even a Xl tenor . Perfect classic sound from a uke.
Like Marco has done for us for so long with the Maki. Sweet satisfaction!
