Yet another 50 year old getting his PPL. I find certain parts of the "navigation" Q&A's confusing on the Prep Test's - but have found this explanation to be by far the best and easiest to understand. This is not only a good video to help pass the written, but also a good ground lesson to understand the functionality of the VOR receiver... Thank you, your efforts are hugely appreciated.

Can't believe I'm just now finding this video at midnight the night before my FAA written. Wish I had found it sooner. Thank you for the explanation!

Those questions were absolutely pummeling me in my practice tests. Thank you so much for the help.

Thank you for your channel. I will be turning 50 next year in the hope of beginning the road to earning my PPL. For now, I am watching as many videos like yours and flying on xplane to prepare. You have the best channel thus far on learning the test. Thank you for all your effort and time..

Nicely done and exactly correct about focusing on understanding rather than memorization. Unfortunately, the test still requires memorization of arbitrary time intervals for renewals, proficiency, inspections, etc. that are infrequent events and easily looked up. It would be better if the FAA asked where to find the expiration for a Basic Med exam rather than what that interval is (and if it's same date or last-day-of-month).

This is a GREAT informative video. I'll be taking my written exam tomorrow, and while I felt I understood these questions, I now thoroughly understand them. Thank you so much!!

There are some old guys commenting there and I'm another one - Turned 68 a couple months ago! I flew hang gliders in the 70s and recently put in about 100 hours in my X-Plane simulator trying and trying to figure out VOR navigation as I prepare for written exam for my Private Pilot cert. This video has been SO HELPFUL - I'm training in a Cessna 150 and despite getting older, I am having a ball!

Do you recommend X-Plane simulator software? How close is it to actual flying ?

as of this date jan 18, 2019 -the software I purchased is OUTDATED for the private pilot test prep & is using outdated FAA supplement information --I know because I bought it and discovered today that the supplement book offered within the software ends in 2F and the current FAA supplement is CT80802H. Boy am I glad I bought software from ASA and Gleim

As of August 29, 2018 we released the 2019 Private Pilot Interactive Test Prep (Version 6.0).
The big changes are a much more streamlined and professional interface with the addition of a feature many of you have been asking us to implement for some time: a New Button which will rewind the timeline by 20 seconds. Missed an important concept? Simply click on the rewind button and voilá.Additionally content has been added/removed to match changes made by the FAA to the supplement book and exam. Finally all of the latest known FAA questions have been included (approximately 600 brand new questions) while the old, obsolete questions have been eliminated. No surprises during the real test!
As updates are free for life with our software, you should have received an email with instructions on how to access it. If you haven't received it please let us know so we can assist you.
