    That was an outstanding tutorial. It was short, succinct and to the point, had reasoning behind it, and you spoke slowly and clearly and made it make sense to me. Thank you!

    This is incredibly useful, time-saving information! I agree with the commenters below that you have a talent for clear explanation and illustration.
    I was also wondering about how you managed to zoom to one track with one click.

    • @miquelmarti6537

      you can assign any action to any shortcut in reaper. I use + and - from zooming. The original author Kenny is probably using mouse modifiers.

    Fucking awesome and you're awesome at tutorials. I used this technique for lining up a multi-track guitar except I just marked my own stretch point positions and did it more by hand, but this helped me understand the process, though.

    One of the most helpful videos that I've recently come across! I've got a question though. Sorry if it has been asked before, but doesn't quantization with stretch markers reduce quality of the original recording? I'm almost hearing this faser effect when I quantize my drums with stretch markers and I don't hear it when I edit my drums manually aka the old fashioned way... Any thoughts? Thank you!

    • @miquelmarti6537
      @miquelmarti6537  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, sure. You may play with the elastic options from the Project Propierties dialog. Some algorithms do better than others depending on the material. Just try them all.

    Hi there!
    Can you please let me know what mouse/keyboard shortcuts you are using to zoom in the track like this ( at 1:51)? I'm using mac and reaper 5.x. And thanks for the tutorial!

    • @daveo3995
      @daveo3995 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Evgeny Poluyantsev "Marquee zoom" is a custom setting. It looks like his cursor is the zoom icon by default if he hovers over the bottom half of the media items and in between tracks.
      The simple way to customize Mouse Modifiers: 1. Press Cmd+P to open Preferences. 2. Under "Mouse Modifiers" change the second drop down menu to "left drag." 3. Double click on the command of your choice and select "Marquee zoom."
      I also assigned a command for the "Track" context on the first drop down menu, so that I can drag from anywhere on the tracks. You can make both of the commands the same.
      If you would rather change the default cursor to get Kenny's settings: in both the "Track" and "Media item bottom half" contexts, change the "Default action" to "Marquee zoom" . Then change all of the other "Media item bottom half" commands to "Pass through to item drag context" so that you can still use the default commands on the bottom half of your media items.

    Cubase has a function where you can quantize tracks to a certain percentage around the grid, or you can add a "swing" feeling to the quantization, so it's not quite as robotic. I actually mostly use that for drums that are programmed in the first place. Is this also possible in Reaper?

    • @miquelmarti6537
      @miquelmarti6537  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes, just go in the midi editor, select the notes and press 'q'

    • @miquelmarti6537
      @miquelmarti6537  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      you could glue the tracks, but there is no need for that apart from saving just a little bit of CPU

  • @mixmakermixmaker
    @mixmakermixmaker 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    After you hit "split" your item is quatizing. for me after hit split there is nothing happened! also there are another options "actions to perform" in last reaper. I can't do anything to quantize:(( after dynamic split

  • @kermiebro2000
    @kermiebro2000 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    i cant quite get it right. i click snap stretch markers to grid and throws EVERYTHING way out of whack. I cant snap it to each grid point otherwise its still out of whack. HELPPPPPPPPP

    • @Noone-of-your-Business
      @Noone-of-your-Business 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +kermiebro2000 You problably need to adjust your "snap" settings. If the time base is too short (e.g. 1/32 or smaller), then your transients will likely snap to the wrong position. Use a time base no shorter than the shortest note in your material.
      He does explain this in the video, though.

    • @miquelmarti6537

      no, if you have a mutitrack recording you need a multitrack software. You can easily download Reaper for free, it's just a few MB and even runs as a portable app.

    • @miquelmarti6537
      @miquelmarti6537  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you want to convert audio to midi, you can use the ReaGate plugin. Look at the bottom, there is an option to trigger a note on gate open. You may route this to another track and record its output, for later processing/quantizing the midi directly.

      No, I am Miquel Martí as you can guess. This video was posted on the reaper forums by Kenny quite long ago when the YT platform wasn't even a thing. I uploaded one video from one of his posts to show a friend of mine how to quantize drums in reaper. In the comments there is a link where I downloaded this video from. I always credited the original author, Im not monetizing it, and if he asks me to remove it I'll do it in a breeze. This was posted just for the sake of sharing some reaper techniques.
