That is really surprising to me that it took her that long. On the Wii version (where each side quest took way longer due to having to use the wiki to find everything), 100%ing everything plus doing EVERY achievement (which added two days to my playthrough hunting the last obnoxious ones) only took me 150 hours, and that's including also having to get back to Sword Valley on NG+ to kill my last unique monster that I accidentally gated myself out of. I feel like that is absolutely the highest you could really go with the game, so I wonder if she just left the console on while on her phone/doing other things and the time ticked up considerably because of that?

i have to agree with both of you its an amazing game! i actually never got to play it on the Wii and i actually played Xenonlade Chronicles 2 first ( which is one of my favorite games in general now)! then i played the XC Definitive Edition and i absolutely enjoyed it. i really cant wait for Xenoblade Chronicles 3!!!!
This is getting me excited to play this! I have only played 10 hours on 3ds because I just couldn't deal with the quality and small screen. I hope Kim will play Xenoblade 2 in the future! (This channel is what got me to buy it and I LOVED it.)
To this day, I still don't understand the need for it to be on the 3DS. It completely ruins the experience to me. It's one of the 2 games I had to play on the biggest TV in my house at the time and proper sound system (while my parents were gone sometimes at evenings) with FFXII. The music, dialogues and scope of the world justify the game to be played on a decent TV.
So crazy that you guys just uploaded! I had taken a long break and had just picked Xenoblade back up a week ago and I am entering the final hours. Great to hear the love for it
Only watched the very beginning since I'm still playing it, but finding out it took 9 months and 170 hours certainly makes me realize just how not close I am to finishing this game. I'm 80 hours in since Christmas, and doing every single quest I can is certainly daunting but totally worth it. Looking forward to returning to the video after finishing up!
70 hours in now. It’s amazing. Had it for the Wii, but always bounced off it because I can’t play RPGs only tied to a TV. Combat takes getting used to, but once you do, it’s so deep. I agree with everything you guys say.
I know that feeling about the game when I started it out with the combat, but once I had a full party and the chain attacks that made the combat so fun. I'm really glad I got to play it along with the DLC story part. Thanks for your review/experiences Kim!
I feel like Xenoblade is a game where it's really fun to put so much time into it because there's so much variety to everything that you do in it, whereas I'd get incredibly bored with Monster Hunter since it's just a semi-small world where you do nothing but fight the same boss fights over and over and over again for dozens of hours ad nauseum.
Xenoblade chronicles is a miracle of game design. The fact it had systems on top of systems, and a fresh combat that even blended into its story in a rarely seen fashion. The ambition and scope brought to this game is a perfect fit for it's EPIC world.
Nice to see someone else mention "systems on top of systems" when praising the game, I feel like that's a detail that most people never even really think about. Every facet of the game design benefits multiple other things so seamlessly, to the point where no matter what you do you're accomplishing something, it's amazing.
@@Jordan3DS Any other developers would of buckled under the shear wait of this games ambitions. It’d be like trying to lift one of the Titans. And it released on Wii originally too! Just goes to show power means nothing in the face of imagination and determination.
Congrats Kim! OMG! I just completed this game tooo on 3/25! 120 hours for me. I had just about every thought that Kim had while playing. I loved the quest, the blue orbs, the music, the story! I enjoy so much how Kim plays games. I flit between so many all the time - I wish I could be more like her and just absolutely plough 200 hours into one game at a time! It's such a good way to get the very much out of a game! And it's a lot cheaper!
wow! I just finished it as well! It was a great game! You guys didn't mention it here, but did Kim play the epilogue (Future Connected) as well? I haven't gotten to it myself, but I am excited to get some additional story and gameplay out of this already massive game
Just started this game today and I feel like it’s a game that would REALLY benefit from an instruction booklet / manual like games used to have. I would just like to take some time to read up on the combat.
@@Jordan3DS I did 99% of them. Still need to find a phew costumes and weapons for all the charcters. Finish a phew side quests in the main story and future conected, and I'm done.
Im so happy that Kim was able to finish xenoblade Chronicles one of the videos I've been wanting to watch n now i was able to I hope Kim can do more reviews in her adventures with games shes spent a good amount time on
Personally, I really enjoyed expert mode. Being able to lower your level at will and not worry about being overleveled was fantastic. I also loved how much the game rewarded you for choosing to explore! Gaining exp from landmarks and getting items from the filling out the collectopedia was very helpful!
Honestly, though, the original game handled it perfectly fine as well. Even in my 100% run I was never really far ahead of the story in terms of levels, because the game has an ingenious system where higher level enemies give way more EXP while lower level enemies give much less EXP. Thus, if you're lagging behind then you'll catch up to the intended level in two seconds of battles, and if you're ahead then the story will catch up to you since you'll be getting so much less EXP from battles.
XENOBLADE chronicles’s after game is absolutely brutal. I could never do it on the Wii or 3dsxl edition due to the vague quest system. Im glad devs cleaned it up for Definitive Edition
I liked how they let you have fashion armor in Chronicles X so you could used a cobbled together set for the best stats but still have a cool looking character using an old set.
Congrats on finishing it! 👏🏻 I have both xenoblade games and I’ve only started the second (I got that one first), I don’t think I’m anywhere near finishing it. I’m really looking forward to playing this one, since I’ve heard it’s better.
XC1 is a masterpiece that handles everything it possibly could perfectly, whereas XC2 has a ton of gameplay problems and the story/characters are incredibly basic and lackluster. XC2 still has very well designed and fun to explore areas and a great soundtrack, but XC1 just has better areas, better music, and handles everything else infinitely better than XC2 does.
I remember pre-ordering the Wii version of it at Gamestop and trying it on and off again for about 2 and a half years before it finally clicked for me. I ended up holding off on beating it because I knew I wasn't gonna come back once I did. Ended up deciding to finally beat it a couple days after Xenoblade Chronicles X came out because I finally had a game I was willing to move on to.
I just started this a few weeks ago, about 30 hours in and just finished makana(SP) forest. Not sure I could do 170 hours, but I am enjoying the story and combat did take some getting used to. I got turned off XBC2 for several reason,I am hoping this helps me give that a try again.
Great game! My wife recently finished it as well! It was up there with zelda botw, xenoblade2, and ys 8 as one of her favorite switch games. She's always been big into Zelda but not so much JRPGs until recently.. I've been trying to get her to go back and play an older final fantasy or dragon quest but no luck yet.
That's what I find so perfect about Xenoblade's combat system, it's "real time" while also still being RPG combat, so it feels like an evolution of classic turn based RPG gameplay (whuch I also love). I wish more games had this kind of gameplay, it feels like everything is either a turn based game or an action game pretending to be an RPG.
I have been wondering if I pick this game up or not. I played XBC2 and I liked it but had to stop because I could not understand how combat works. I tried watching videos and guides but I kept failing. Thank you for the discussion, gonna wait for a slight sale and buy it! 🧸💕
I prefer the Wii visuals, personally. Better facial animations, cleaner graphics, and the Final Fantasy XII inspired style is much more unique and appealing to me than generic anime people (plus, the characters just don't look right in the new style, especially Reyn and Dunban).
Way to go, lady! 😎 There just so happens to be a new game+ option, so it won’t take you 9 months the second time around. There are also a few ultimate weapons and an ultimate boss as well (I think). I’m not sure where the boss is located though.
Finished this on the Switch last year ... loved it. Think it took me about 150 hrs to do the main game plus the DLC aftwerwards. The updated UI and QoL improvements ( especially for quests ) on the Switch edition made this version soooooo much more fun to play compared to the Wi & 3DS versions.
All these years I always watch your videos and I kept on waiting and hoping for your review for the game that I considered the greatest game of all time Xenogears..
Love when Kim is on, have this game in my backlog for while now but haven’t tried it yet since I know it’s so much of a grind, I want to be fully invested. I’ve done 100+ hours in a couple of games but never 170. Great job, will have to dive in now.
The actual storyline itself (while doing some sidequests) only takes 50 hours. Doing every single quest, beating every superboss, and beating the main story only took me 80 hours in DE, so it's really not as much of a time sink as you'd think.
This is a game I always keep coming back to because it's been released three times - on Wii, 3ds, and now switch. I've beaten it on all 3 consoles and I did a 100% run on the 3ds version. I'll do it again and again if they keep releasing it on future consoles.
Great video I love that game one of my favorite switch games so congrats to her. I have a question what’s your opinion on astral chain I just got it last week and it’s one of my favorite switch games as of now the game is amazing
That wasn't the case for me at all, I found it to be pretty simple when I first played it. If you feel that way about XC1 then you'd probably despise XC2, that game broke people's brains when it came out because they found it so complex.
@@Jordan3DS it wasn't about the gameplay being hard, but more about not really enjoying it at first. I also played XC2 and found the gameplay in XC2 way better than XC1! I didn't find it that complex tbh and I'm having a blast in NG+ (played 150h so far)
@@Ric_93 For me, the combat of XC2 is just a huge step back. You move 1/5 of the speed in battle (which makes it obnoxious to use position based arts and even more annoying to pick up healing potions), enemies take too long to kill even if you're 80 levels higher than them, the blade system forcing you to only have 3 arts at a time is dumb, the equipment system is overly simplistic and unsatisfying, to max out your blade's affinity charts you're forced to go out of your way to do specific things to unlock the nodes (whereas in the first game there are no restrictions like that), and the orb based system dominates the game too much to the point where you spend more time watching long animations of the characters doing special moves than you do actually fighting. I appreciate the layered simplicity of the combat in XC1 a lot more, you still need to use strategy but it flows really well and everything you do benefits some part of the gameplay in some way. Burst affinities increase the affinity between your characters, making them better with each other in battle and unlocking heart to hearts which in turn allow you to learn more about the characters and boost their affinity even more, and that's all just just one example.
Jesus, how do you even put that many hours into it? Do you just keep replaying NG+ over and over again or something? Literally doing everything possible in the game on Wii (which takes longer due to no quest tracking) still only took me 150 hours, so I can't fathom 100 extra hours getting added onto that in a faster version of the game without a ton of replays.
@@Jordan3DS Yeah, I played through the game three times so far! There's this really fun glitch that I've been messing around with in subsequent playthroughs! Idk if it's exclusive to DE but it's an absolute blast! lol th-cam.com/video/6fBYo9lGvto/w-d-xo.html
Hey Johnny! You and Kim always remind me of my wife and I. I'm also fortunate enough to be married to a gamer like myself (isn't it just amazing having a partner that shares your love for video games?!) Anyway, I just wanted to say I love watching your videos and because of you I'm now a huge fan of the Y's series! I'm currently playing through Y's 9 and love it!
one of my favorite things about this game is actually the problem i had with xenoblade 2, the tutorials in this one are absolutely perfect and you can always find them in the menus if you forget how to do something, can't do that in 2
One more cool thing about the customization with the outfits in this game is that you can equip a certain type of armor that may have the best stats but if you like the LOOK of a different kind of armor it lets you choose what you want to display vs what the character is actually wearing while maintaining the stats of whatever armor you want to equip. It's changes like this and dozens and dozens of small changes that make this by FAR the best version of this game. After all these years this feels like how the game was MEANT to be played and experienced. Great game for docked and handheld play. I've been bouncing between docked on my original Switch and playing a lot on my Switch Lite as well. Since you can save everywhere and make progress quickly in just a minute or so of playing it really makes it a great portable RPG. It keeps your story notes and quest log well organized and also keeps you on track letting you follow quest guidemarkers on the map/mini map for really easy navigation. I wrote a lot more in my other comment about this game but I could really just go on and on about how much better this version of the game is than any other. For lack of a better phrase it really is a game changed and makes the whole world feel more fully realized on top of making the gameplay experience better overall. I think it brings it from a 7 to a 10.

i have to agree with both of you its an amazing game! i actually never got to play it on the Wii and i actually played Xenonlade Chronicles 2 first ( which is one of my favorite games in general now)! then i played the XC Definitive Edition and i absolutely enjoyed it. i really cant wait for Xenoblade Chronicles 3!!!!
Congrats on finishing it up! I'm about 20 hours into the game myself and it's fantastic!
Nice! What area are you currently on? I have a guess, but I'd rather not accidentally spoil anything for you.
@@Jordan3DS I have just made it to Melia's city. I'm side tracked with Hades right now, but when I finish that game I'm going right back to xenoblade!
Oh wow! Big props to Kim! It’s coming in the mail right away, this was great to hear
I'd add DQ VIII /XI
It's so awesome hearing new players first time with this game, glad to hear you both enjoyed it!, Hope you play Xeno 2 and X possibly!
I know that feeling about the game when I started it out with the combat, but once I had a full party and the chain attacks that made the combat so fun. I'm really glad I got to play it along with the DLC story part. Thanks for your review/experiences Kim!
you and kim need to play it takes two!
Isnt that game about a divorcing couple?. Seems silly to play a game about divorce when you are in a stable relationship.
@@jakeryan2805 not really. Me and my wife played through it, and my sister in law and her husband as well
@@jakeryan2805 I thought it was about them learning to accept each other and restore their relationship
Love the channel
Great episode you guys happy Easter!
I'm really feeling it!
Hey Kim!!! Monster Hunter Rise called, it wants you to play it for 100+ hours now! Enjoy!!!! And Happy Easter to everyone!!!
Congrats Kim!!! I haven’t even taken the wrapping off my copy 😅😅😅
You should go and play it right now, the best game of all time is waiting for you!
Great video guys! One of my favorite games of all time. So glad you both enjoyed it as well.
I’m happy to see I’m not the only one that keeps notes on the rpgs I play.
Almost everything. I played on easy mode for the first 20 hours or so until the combat finally clicked. One of my absolute favorite game I've played. I felt so accomplished after my completion too! 100/10!!!!
Congrats! I just finished it this week after putting it on the back burner since its release!
I knew before playing this masterpiece of a game that the developers helped with the world of the botw and I was still impressed. 10/10 world design like woah
Reading this in riki's voice cause you have em as your pfp makes it better!
"Heropon riki knew before playing button smashing game on machine would be a masterpiece! Sidekicks dun dun and shulk and other friends love the people that make this game on machine like others games"
Xenoblade Chronicles devs to the Breath of the Wild dev team: "Sidekicks, try hard!"
@@joserachi96 that made my smile

Great video! I’m about 10 hours in starting to get it figured out
Just watch out for spoilers, I'd advise against looking anything up (even side quest help or anything) until beating the game because the wiki is covered in spoilers.
As a new player this helped me much better than any 2 hour long tips & tricks video. Great summary thank you!
might be my favorite game of all time, so glad you enjoyed it! i was around 130 with it, so i hear ya! only thing missing from this review/ video: 0 rikki mentions! eep!
I enjoy so much how Kim plays games. I flit between so many all the time - I wish I could be more like her and just absolutely plough 200 hours into one game at a time! It's such a good way to get the very much out of a game! And it's a lot cheaper!
Agree with you on everything. I`d add that the music and voice work are exceptional as well!
wow! I just finished it as well! It was a great game! You guys didn't mention it here, but did Kim play the epilogue (Future Connected) as well? I haven't gotten to it myself, but I am excited to get some additional story and gameplay out of this already massive game
That’s crazy I just beat this yesterday as well after MONTHS. What a great game!
Just started this game today and I feel like it’s a game that would REALLY benefit from an instruction booklet / manual like games used to have. I would just like to take some time to read up on the combat.
I beat it a few months ago. Amazing game. The story, music, and world are so great
What a coincidence. I recently finished the game at 150+ hours. And loved it.
Did you do every side quest/get every achievement/beat every superboss to get to that many hours?
@@Jordan3DS I did 99% of them. Still need to find a phew costumes and weapons for all the charcters. Finish a phew side quests in the main story and future conected, and I'm done.
Well done Kim! I'm still workin on Xenoblade Chronicals (Non definitive Edition)
Im so happy that Kim was able to finish xenoblade Chronicles one of the videos I've been wanting to watch n now i was able to
I hope Kim can do more reviews in her adventures with games shes spent a good amount time on
Congratz.
Always love hearing of someone's passion about their completion of a game.
🎮 ♥️
Think I shall try the "Xeno" series thanks to ya'll.
Holy cow, way-to-go Kim!! Maybe you’ll pickup Xenoblade Chronicles 2 next winter 🥳 I have to return to that one too
Personally, I really enjoyed expert mode.
I beat this game earlier this year and it might be one of my favorite rpg games. This game and DQ11 both are fantastic for different reasons for me
Nice and happy Easter Kim and Johnny. I'm working on Xenoblade 2 trying to get all the rare blades then I'll play Xenoblade
It's in this remake too!
biggest question now, will kim get to xc2. it does start slow but when you get through to like chapter 3, woww, its amazing
I don't think she'd really like it, it's a far cry from the first game in terms of quality and storytelling.
Don’t forget xenoblade chronicles x on wii u
Masterpiece for sure!
Kim! My gf wants you to start your own channel! She says she loves the videos that you’re in.
What a treat, great game, great review, mega Lady! Thanks guys, I'm going to try it after I recover from 5 years and 500 hrs of XCX!
Way to go! just finished this game too 140 hours still need to finish the extra story stuff
I just started this a few weeks ago, about 30 hours in and just finished makana(SP) forest. Not sure I could do 170 hours, but I am enjoying the story and combat did take some getting used to. I got turned off XBC2 for several reason,I am hoping this helps me give that a try again.
Such a masterpiece!
I thoroughly enjoyed this game on the lowly Wii and loved how it looked even then. One of the best games I've ever played honestly!
I prefer the Wii visuals, personally. Better facial animations, cleaner graphics, and the Final Fantasy XII inspired style is much more unique and appealing to me than generic anime people (plus, the characters just don't look right in the new style, especially Reyn and Dunban).
A masterpiece of a game. Happy people are still getting to experience and enjoy this game with fresh eyes.
Way to go, lady! 😎
There just so happens to be a new game+ option, so it won’t take you 9 months the second time around. There are also a few ultimate weapons and an ultimate boss as well (I think). I’m not sure where the boss is located though.
I LOVE KIM EPISODES ♥️
Congrats 👏 I'm about 60 hours in and can't wait to finish, I love this game!!!
You two are awesome. I wish your family well.
I started Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition 6/24/2022. I am having so much fun. Then on to XC2, XC: Torna and already have XC3 preorder woo-hoo
@@Jordan3DS appreciate the information, can’t wait to get into it.
@@DannyGPro Hope you enjoy it, it's a masterpiece!
Congratulations , that's quite the commitment !
I also had a hard time with the gameplay at first, but I'm glad I pushed through. It definitely takes a while to get used to
That wasn't the case for me at all, I found it to be pretty simple when I first played it.
I love Xenoblade so much, I've got 245 hours in Xenoblade DE! Can't wait to see where the series goes next!
