These two dudes are literally the spokesmen for the entire video game industry for me. Please never stop playing games and talking about them, Johnny and Rob - we love you guys! ✌
It’s crazy how well this show is able to sustain itself in terms of keeping interest. It seems like every episode has me saying “oh, I want to click on that!” In this case, it’s always great to see Rob man.
I turned 47 last week and we are truly the first “video game generation”. Been enjoying your channel for well over 10 years Johnny, keep up the awesome work! Lately I went back to Skyrim on the Series X with the recent 60fps upgrade and it has been amazing. I finally, after all these years, finished the actual main quest. I’ve have also been playing Yakuza 4.
Just found your channel man. I just turned 40 january 9th 2022 and it makes me happy to see other gamers my age. I've been gaming since 1985 and i will NEVER stop
HCG is my favorite gaming channel on TH-cam. Always good vibes & great memories to share. Truly just positive & a nice escape from many of the world's bleak problems in these harsh times.
You two dudes together are everything I love about game content on TH-cam. Thanks and keep up the good work! Such a needed respite in a world gone insane here in the states.
Happy bday Johnny. Always a blast watching you and Rob. The love and appreciation you guys have is priceless. Still currently playing monster hunter stories 2, then going to try playing thru bravely default 2.
Ah, Sweet Home, love that game. It kicked my ass from pillar to post but I eventually was able to finish it with a few characters still intact. The ending actually changes slightly depending on how many survivors there are, similar to the original Resident Evil. I've been playing a ton of Switch shooters lately like R-Type Final 2 and Radirgy Swag, and making my way through YS VIII.
Thank you so much for your continued devotion to content creation. Listening to you guys gets me laughing each and every time. You enrich the world we live in. I'm on Vancouver Island, so there's extra depth knowing you make this show so close. We could run into each other at any time. Grateful.
The trick with Sweet Home is to do some grinding. Your HP refills at each level up. If you take the time to grind from time to time, it's easy to meter out the few healimg items.
I love this channel. I have been watching since 2009. This is probably one of my longest watched and favorite channels on youtube. Thanks for all the great videos over the years guys.
Happy birthday. Many more to come. The last week I've revisited and finished Monkey Island 1&2, Grim Fandango, Full Throttle, and Day of the Tentacle (plus the included Maniac Mansion). I used the OG graphics and UI for all. Good times.
On my Vita I've been playing The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky. On my PS4, I've been playing Persona 5 Strikers, and I just ordered a copy of Crash Bandicoot 4, which is shipping in the mail as we speak.
Been playing Super Mario RPG for the first time. Pretty darn great game. I haven't played other SNES RPGs like Final Fantasy III or Chrono Trigger, so I don't know how Mario RPG compares to those, but I'm still having a great time.
There isn’t really much of a comparison. But it slides into the history of square soft largely. The big issue that was facing Square was that the audience for action games was and is always going to be bigger than the audience for proper role-playing games. So square was really trying to find its path with Final Fantasy six, Krono trigger, and super Mario RPG. Super Mario RPG leaned the most heavily into action territory and heavily influenced Final fantasy seven in terms of mini games and action sequences.
I'm always happy to see you two together talking about games. Rob's description of Christmas, snow, and gaming brought back memories of me rending a PS1 and Final Fantasy 7 from blockbuster and spending 3 days of the holidays doing nothing but playing that game all day while it snowed out.
Yes Robman and Johnny, My Sunday is complete. Sweet home looks interesting but I've been working through SMT V myself and also had a sudden itch to run through Soul Blazer on SNES the other day. Might run through Illusion of Gaia (Illusion of time) afterwards.
I played trials of Mana last week, I beat it in 23 hours over the course of 3 days. Usually don't run through games like that but I was hooked. What a Great remake. I played it on hard mode. Unlocked the other 2 difficulties I'm attempting newgame+ on "No future" it's tough. I definitely kept my level on 1 character and picked 2 new characters, without my level 70 angela it'd be pretty much impossible imo.
Love you guys. I’ve just been playing from soft games in preparation for Elden Ring. Beat Sekiro, then Demon Souls on PS5, now I’m close to finishing Bloodborne.
I'd recommend the book "Itchy, Tasty: An Unofficial History of Resident Evil" by Alex Aniel if you'd like some insight into the connection between Resident Evil and Sweet Home. Ghosts n Goblins' Tokuro Fujiwara directed Sweet Home and wanted to see a new horror game that used its mechanics on the PlayStation, and after some internal interviews, Shinji Mikami was given the job based on the quality of his SNES Disney games and his enthusiasm for Sweet Home.
Happy birthday Johnny! I'm currently playing Monster Hunter Rise on PC and have also begun on my backlog of games, starting with OCTOPATH TRAVELER =D that Lodoss war game looks interesting, so that's going into my backlog as well =)
I've played Shin Megami Tensei V and Shadow Man Remastered on Switch. I really recommend Shadow Man to all people who like metroidvanias or Zeldas. I think it's quite a hidden gem form the N64 and PS1 era. You can see it was clearly inspired but OoT but it's a much darker experience. It has an absolutely massive, labyrinthine world. The remaster is very lovingly done. You can even switch between old and HD textures etc.
Finally finishing up Axiom Verge. Might step into Record of Lodoss War, but I was also thinking of playing Final Fantasy Tactics since Resonant Arc is doing a podcast series on it now.
I love you guys so much. Thanks for giving me hope about life and my future for like 10 years now ha! I'm about 10 years younger, and I can't even tell you, watching you so gracefully go before me, I have never really gotten to have role models. We all deserve friends like you guys, but I'm really glad I got to have you guys for "virtual" friends! It actually helped a lot.
Played Sweet Home a few years back after watching Derek do that review you mentioned back in the day. Such an awesome game. Definitely has a learning curve, but once you get going, the puzzles and progression are super satisfying. The music will be stuck in your head forever too. Overall fun game! Glad you guys are enjoying it!
I've been playing Cadence of Hyrule and I can't believe I slept on this so long. It's such a fun little adventure and so much more fun and addictive than I thought it was going to be.
Been playing a simple RPG called Dungeon Encounters. It doesn't have perma-death but it's a pain if you die. Picked up that Lodoss War game the second it was released, just waiting for the right time to start it!
I should've known you and Rob would have seen Record of the Lodoss War. I literally know only 2 people who have seen it. 1 is my best friend who introduced me to it, the other is my Baby Brother.
Currently playing Aggelos. It's a fun little indie throwback to games like Wonderboy and Zelda II. It came out a few years ago, and is well worth picking up on sale.
I'm so happy seeing rob and seeing him not in pain. Rob is really a great person with a huge outgoing personality that reminds me of robin williams that i'm always happy to see. Never stop what you do guys till next time!
Currently I am adventuring the living shit out of the realms in Baldur's Gate 2, with the little advantage of the Imoen Romance mod that finnaly brings much lore (and character development) for the game. On a side note, many of you might know this already, but for the sake of yolo, Resident Evil was a project conceived in 1994 by Tokuro Fujiwara as a spiritual succesor of Sweet Home (a game also produced by him), so many elements from Sweet made their way into RE, from the door animations to the overhead shot of the mansion you get in the map wich is based on the opening shot of the manor in Sweet Home. Granted for RE, Alone in the Dark (Infogrames, 1992) was a complete inspiration for the camera work in-game yet the original idea (before Shinji Mikami even got pushed by Fujiwara into the team) was based on Sweet Home alone until many talented people at Capcom made their inputs and refurbished the idea into something even better.
Got the platinum trophy for Tales of Arise (PS4) Amazing JRPG definitely recommend. Also about to finish Judgment for the first time and as a guy who loves the Yakuza series, this game which is made from the same studio Ryu Ga Gotoku is phenomenal so far. Can't wait to start Lost Judgment (sequel) !
Thanks for the video! I myself have been playing "nobody saves the world" from the guacamelee people, it's really good if you like zelda type of games! (old ones), and I have been playing Alundra....omg the music is so good in that one
This week I beat HotWheels Unleashed on my PS5 and Habroxia 2 on my Vita. Currently im playing Chivalry 2 and Kena Bridge of Spirits on the PS5 and Lego: The Hobbit on my vita
I played Sweet Home in the early 90's when I was still 9 or 10 years old. Absolutely got traumatized by some of the graphics back then and the music still gives me chills. I hope you guys will drop the full review of this game once you finish the game!
When I played through Sweet Home I used a guide for one thing and one thing only. I looked at what each character carried in the guide, then renamed them in game to what that item was. Made it so much easier to organize
Happy Birthday Johnny! I just finished Cyber Shadow a few days ago and it's become my 2021 GOTY. Now I'm playing Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and I'm loving it.
I just beat Persona 3 Portable and am now playing Trails in the Sky on psp lol.. Prior to that I finished Spiderman remastered and Miles Morales, Ghost of Tsushima directors cut, persona 5 strikers on on ps4/ps5. All great games and beat them all this month lmfao. Also happy birthday!!!
I'm late to the party but I'm finally starting Ys IX, I remember when I found this channel many years ago and how much I was happy to see someone talking about Ys.
Not what I've been playing yet, but what I'm about to: Somewhere out of nowhere I've been bitten by a dungeon crawling fever. Along with that, I've been wanting to take out my 3DS for a spin again. So by combining those two itches I came across and discovered the Etrian game series. I went and ordered Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl and Etrian Mystery Dungeon. Really looking forward to some crawling with those two! Also what a cool recommendation from Rob on that Hot Wheels game. Seems really fun and I'm going to check it out for sure!
Happy Birthday 🎂 🥳 I turn 40 on 2/1 I've been playing some Windjammers 2 on Switch! Looks great and plays perfectly. Also, I've had a hankering for PUBG SO... Yeah good ol time. Happy bday and many more to come 🍻
Love hearing you guys talk games! I've been playing Outer Worlds and Assassin's Creed Rogue on the Switch lately. Love AC Rogue. Wish there were more third person action games on the Switch.
Happy Birthday Johnny! I'm currently playing through Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water on the Switch at the moment, I'm really enjoying it and scaring myself at the same time lol.
Happy Birthday Johnny ^_^!!!!!!!!!! Final Fantasy 5 - Pixel Remaster, I'm finally gonna get though this beast!!! I have false started this game so many times LOL Friend of mine just gifted me Shin Migami Tensi 5! After the high recommendations of you and Kim, I'm hyped ^_^
Happy Birthday Johnny. I’ve been going back to some of the classic video games I played on Xbox and Xbox 360 lately since I have an Xbox Series S. Played Call Of Duty World At War, Modern Warfare 3 and Ghostbusters The Video Game. It’s been pretty awesome.
I've been playing a lot of KOFXIV in preparation for XV coming out next month! Also I'm planning on buying The Artful Escape on PS4 when it comes out on Tuesday! Can't. Wait.
Playing Chorus, an awesome, narrative-driven space shooter. I Am Setsuna, a glorious throwback to SNES RPGs, heavily influenced by Chrono Trigger. Fantastic music and lovely snow-covered landscapes. Kaze and the Wild Masks. A throwback to platformers like Rayman and Donkey Kong Country. Very fun with nice, varied level design. I also got back into Dragon Age Inquisition after not giving it much of a chance when it first came out. Deathloop. Really great PS5 exclusive from the folks behind Dishonored. It looks plays and feels like Dishonored. Only with a wild story and flawless gameplay mechanics.
Great show guys! Happy birthday John :-) After finishing SMT V, I’ve been playing two games I should’ve beat long ago- Ocarina of Time 3D and Dragon Quest 8, time just disappears
I actually picked up that labyrinth game I pre-ordered it at play Asia on my birthday I I remember watching a streamer playing that game it truly was like a symphony of a nightclone and I knew I had to have that in my switch collection
I simple love it to listen to you guys, even when ur talking about games i have never played..hehe.. There is so much enthusiasm, i love that!! Atm still playing OCTOPATH TRAVELER (great!) and Black Desert Online (down the memory lane..hehe)
Hey Johnny, I'm about your age and I just downloaded and started playing Bioshock on the NIntendo Switch for the very first time! I've heard wonderful reviews on this game and so far I'm loving it!
Happy Birthday Johny!! I'm currently playing Guardians of the Galaxy on Xbox Series X. It is definitely living up to the surprised hype out there. Gorgeous graphics, addictive and fun gameplay, and great laugh out loud writing. Definitely in my top 3 games of 2021.
Love this series of videos. Love hearing what games you are playing. Happy Birthday Johnny! I played and beat Mana Khemia 2 (finally) meaning I've beaten all 19 English Atelier games (including spin-offs). I beat all 7 games on the Capcom Beat 'em up Collection. I then moved on to trying out my new Evercade Vs with the Interplay collections, the Atari collections, and currently I'm in the middle of playing the games on the Indie Heroes Collection. Alien Cat 2 and Anguna Warriors of Virtue were short and fun so I'm excited for the rest. Looking forward to the new Pokémon game coming soon. I have no idea what to expect as I play all games blind as I like the surprise.
These PlayStation Store retro arcade games are on sale until 2nd Feb 2022: Heavy Barrel, Two Crude, Bad Dudes Vs. Dragon Ninja, Wizard Fire, Super Burger Time, Heavy Burger & Joe and Mac - Caveman Ninja
Awesome video, this might be my favorite series you do. And it's always great when Rob Man crashes the party! Thanks for the Hot Wheels recommendation, been hearing great things. Thinking me and my 7 year old would have a blast with it. Currently playing; Psychonauts 2, Serious Sam 4 and The Medium. All three are on Gamepass.
These two dudes are literally the spokesmen for the entire video game industry for me. Please never stop playing games and talking about them, Johnny and Rob - we love you guys! ✌
1000%
@JungleBubble I love Vic! What was his show called on G4. Him and Tommy? were great.
It’s crazy how well this show is able to sustain itself in terms of keeping interest. It seems like every episode has me saying “oh, I want to click on that!” In this case, it’s always great to see Rob man.
Any Happy Console Gamer video makes me say “oh, I want to click on that!” Haha!

F.R. and worse in 2024!!!😮
It's impressive how these two can make me feel nostalgic about stories and memories that aren't my own 😂
Your passion is very infectious and you never fail to put a smile on my face. Thank for sharing your radiating positivity ❤️.
Happy Birthday Johnny. I'm currently playing The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, Shovel Knight: Pocket Dungeon & Sonic Mania.
Love when rob man is on. so entertaining and positive. have him on more often please
Happy bday Johnny. Always a blast watching you and Rob. The love and appreciation you guys have is priceless. Still currently playing monster hunter stories 2, then going to try playing thru bravely default 2.
Rob’s expressions😂😂😂 Love when you guys get together
Ah, Sweet Home, love that game. It kicked my ass from pillar to post but I eventually was able to finish it with a few characters still intact. The ending actually changes slightly depending on how many survivors there are, similar to the original Resident Evil.
I've been playing a ton of Switch shooters lately like R-Type Final 2 and Radirgy Swag, and making my way through YS VIII.
You two have great energy I love your videos.
"Record of Lodoss War" is originally a novel. It is a memory of my childhood : )
If we're being real specific it's originally the authors dnd campaign
@@projectmessiah Lulz beat me to it
Unfortunately, the book is expensive.
Love you guys. Thanks for keeping me sane during the covid era
Born 1982 glad I found this channel in 2022
Thank you so much for your continued devotion to content creation.
Listening to you guys gets me laughing each and every time.
You enrich the world we live in. I'm on Vancouver Island, so there's extra depth knowing you make this show so close. We could run into each other at any time.
Grateful.

@@JazGalaxy Definitely agree with you there, FFVII does have a good bit of minigames to complete, especially during a certain section in the game.

Am playing FFT ADVANCE after finishing Persona 4 by some months, its been really fun
lodoss war is slick. thanks for the rec.
Been playing unsighted. This game was a surprise really. Love the story. And it feels like hyper light drifter, which is never a bad thing.
Unsighted is on my on my list after I tackle my backlog a bit. Coincidentally, Hyper Light Drifter is on my backlog.
Currently replaying the Metro trilogy after spending 90hrs on my first playthrough of Lost Odyssey (which was 90hrs well spent lol)
I used to play the original hot wheels game on n64, it was amazing.
I bought that book and it's incredibly good, as an RE fanatic it's so cool to learn more and more about the behind the scenes.
Happy birthday Johnny!
I'm currently playing Monster Hunter Rise on PC and have also begun on my backlog of games, starting with OCTOPATH TRAVELER =D that Lodoss war game looks interesting, so that's going into my backlog as well =)

Hot Wheels Unleashed is a criminally underrated racing game. Great family game
Happy Birthday Johnny!!! 🎂 Been a huge fan for like well ever since I found TH-cam. Your videos are the ones I look forward to the most every week!!!
I've been playing Cadence of Hyrule and I can't believe I slept on this so long. It's such a fun little adventure and so much more fun and addictive than I thought it was going to be.

Scarlet Nexus on P5 and Ys IX on the Switch.

Long time subscriber, I've been playing tales of arise. Such a good game!! Thanks for the recommendation 👍

Love when Rob Man is on the episode, HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHNNY Man!! u may be old, feel old but at least u Dont Look Old lol
17:44 track editor in Hotwheels Unleashed gives me so much option for creation. You can make outlandish out-of-the-box tracks. I LOVE IT!

Happy Birthday, Johnny!! Wish you all the best and many many more HCG videos! Looking at Sweet Home makes me want to play RE Village
It's rare that I enjoy people just talking about what they like, but for some reason I get very excited every time I see one of your new videos.
The things I love in order of importance.
1. Robman
2. Winona Ryder
3. Pizza

Happy Birthday Johnny! I'm currently playing through Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water on the Switch at the moment, I'm really enjoying it and scaring myself at the same time lol.
Deedlit in wonderlabyrinth is easily my new favourite metroidvania. Everything from the gameplay to visuals was fantastic

Hey Johnny, I'm about your age and I just downloaded and started playing Bioshock on the NIntendo Switch for the very first time! I've heard wonderful reviews on this game and so far I'm loving it!
Banjo kazooie is what I’ve been sinking my teeth into! How’s about some honeycomb and puzzle piece love
Symphony of the Night is one of my favorite games of all time. Can't wait to try Deedlit
Wizard Fire is excellent and is one of my all-time favorite arcade games. Gate of Doom is worth checking out as well.
Another day, another Rob
EDIT: 10 seconds in, I hear that Ys OST. This is why this is my fav gaming channel
