Just a feedback, maybe you can stop comparing him to phraesto. Most mid spender and f2p will not have a working mythic + phraesto. I played for 2 months and my reiner is not evven mythic + yet. Like what the other comments say, a better comparison focus is your thoughts of ulmus vs granny or thoran.

Only have enough stargaze summons to summon Reiner once out of pity and have not hit 2nd pity. Also got 1 copy from the daily log in. Don't seem to get more copies from anywhere.

Which by then maybe another S hypo will come and you will need to revaluate again. Especially as the developers plan to release one more before the season ends. So IF ulumus is better than Granny/Thoran at Mythic +, it may be more worth for F2P to try to build it in the meantime since we will have lack of resources to get phraesto to M+.
It seems like Ulmus was designed for teams with an off tank. Someone who isn't super tanky on his own like say Lucius, Temesia, Lumont, etc, but has other qualities that make them useful and are still on the tanky side. Doesn't really fit the wilders comp but with other factions I can absolutely see a place for him. He might even work well in summon teams with Florabelle and Cecia, with the summons(especially's Cecia's) taking over tanking duties when Ulmus drops to low health and turns into a support. Still seems like a pretty niche choice and I just don't know that this particular role is necessary in the current meta of the game.
Did you tested it in PvP? Only team might be worth using is in the Eironn meta team, using Ulmus instead of Thoran. I really wanna see if that's better, since on paper looks really good but the truth is that Thoran is an amazing unit so it might be not worth the change.
True, Ulmus more useful for a less developed account, however, what F2P player is going to spend all their gems on an average tank unit? At that point wait until wishlist…unless you really need a offtank
You do need to understand that phraesto is a hypogeon so the comparison is a little unfair. I think ulmus is at the same lv as antandra or better than her in some ways. He is just good for many eironn comps that want to do chain cc When comparing ulmus and granny, i think ulmus is better at higher punch ups when granny can't tank well due to how he functions mostly
Yeah, I was scratching my head with him comparing a hypogean (that only mega-whales will have maxed for the forseeable future) to an A rank wilder. End game for normal people is Eironn comp, so he should only be compared to Thoran and Granny.
Ulmus seems like a nice and balanced release. Might not be worth going all in for f2p but I'll personally prioritize getting him over Kafra and Lyca and maybe even Parisa!
I just dont get why people say groot has to compete with danny , instead one is offtank (groot that goes in the back after being low) and enables granny to tank better after, so why not run both?
Not fair to not test him at m+, in the eironn comp he actually makes the start of battle a nightmare for the enemy stunning everyone for 2 sec more after eironn displace them followed by arden and so on...not saying that he is better than thoran/phaestro but he is not a bad hero for that comp at all
I think he might make a strong case for pvp defensive stall teams. It’s important to note now that there will be very specific niches for each character released and for certain modes for them to excel at. In this case having him as a secondary or even tertiary tank in a stall team pvp set up could be super beneficial in terms of your pvp rank.
Thoran just too good of a tank to replace him with. Thoran skill also nukes teams so it's not like Thoran is just soaking damage. Ulmus will be a hard pass for almost everyone
My Granny is at Mythic, so it makes no sense for me to summon for Ulmus. He seems pretty low priority and I wouldn't build him before Lyca. Zeeebo I believe it's time you talked about Maulers in pvp. Shakir got moved back to S tier and Satrana was moved to A tier on Prydwen.
I summon for him because i had too many resources sitting doing nothing, 240 rate up letters and like 180k dimonds, i need to get those 4 star copies to get some progress on my account. So far from my testing he is not that good but not a bad hero either. He soaks damage well and his backline thing is somewhat useful but definitely not worth pulling for f2p. There is not enough displacement abilities in the game for him to be worth including in any comp imo
So Did I. He’s fine, and the displacement ability has potential, I also lke him in Arena a lot. And he looks cool, We have no clue how good the next char will be, so why would you assume that?
@@PoetDB I can pull another 2 banners to full pity for supreme + with resources I have right now, it's not a big deal to me at all, my account is 50 days old and I can save up while this banner is up for another 19 days
Just like another one pointed out I think it's not fair to compare him with a hypogeon. But I think he has a home for really high deficit pushing almost better than phreasto with lumont and odie, if you're aware of volkin vod on it.
Another skip. I have so many Rate Up tickets and diamonds save, hope they allow us to use diamonds in the Stargazer. The good thing about Ulmus being out is that Tasi is closer...
If Tasi get added to Afk Journey and retain her base kit from Afk Arena, her and Igor will be so annoying to face in Arena with the constance Sleep and Teleport
yeah I don't think comparing him to phraesto is exactly fair but he still seems like a pretty easy skip for f2p as well. I guess he's a nice filler to give them more time to save for a more must-have unit, as well as adding some visual diversity into the game.
Comparing A to S is more than reasonable as well. Lot’s of great A units in the game RN. The only weird comparassment you can do is with Hypogian/Celestial lul

Comparing an A tier tank to a Hypogean tank that like 0.05% of the population of players have built seems like it missed the mark.
Like everyone else said, comparing A to A is going to make this review more accurate. What you did here is not helpful to most players.
Comparing A to S is more than reasonable as well.
