That silicone looking stuff is factory. Mine just started leaking in the exact same spot, never been replaced, and the sealant looks just like that. Thanks for the vid!
I’m glad I finally found a good video on this, my 2018 3500 oil pan is rusting out, it has a big rust blister that’s flaking and a slow seep, no warranty coverage on rust and I’m not paying the dealership to do the work, I’ll do it myself but nervous about what issues I might come across having never done it myself
You’re absolutely amazing and talented ❤ I enjoy seeing your videos and your work ❤ keep up your amazing work ❤ and keep up with your amazing content ❤
Hey what torque should the pickup tube be for reinstall? My engine was stuck in the mounts i had to go under and pry them with a bar the truck was coming up with it. The midwest is so rough on vehicles😢
Mine also has a slowwww seap along backside...I just think its nuts we gotta lift the motor to drop the pan. Thats why I havent fixed it yet..lol. Gotta love automotive engineers who come up with this mess for us to deal with.
I need to do my 15. Questions, i have the second alternator where you used the second lift point. Could i use a cherry picker to lift from the one factory point on the front passenger side? Or will the engine twist, adding undue stress to the one lift point on the head. Or should i remove the alternator to add a second point? Do the lifting points impact the head gasket since it looks like the motor is being lifted by the head?
If it was me, I would 100% use two lifting points on both sides for a couple reasons. One, it lifts straight up together and not on an angle since you won’t get the height you need to fit the pan out from underneath. Second, you always want at LEAST two contact points for lifting because it’s a safety issue. That way there is a backup if anything was to happen to the other one.
Hi. I didn't catch this but do you install the oil pick up before installing the pan or do you fish it in once the pan is up there? I didn't see the oil pick up when you were slipping the pan on.
It’s not lowering the transmission, it’s actually raising it up for extra clearance. I had the jack underneath the transmission to help lift the weight since the engine hoist was maxing out from all the extra weight
Book time quotes out 5.5hrs for it, I had to deal with tool malfunctions and other things popping up that made this process a lot longer. But all in all without any issues it would probably be around 6-7hrs start to finish for the first time doing it.

Geez and I thought the transmission pan was difficult. Looks like I got some fun ahead. Damn Ram lol.
I have the same problem on my 2016 Cummins What is the average cost on something like this if I don’t do it myself?

For real! They make things so insanely difficult for no reason at all
I’ve done mine, it’s not really all that bad. Did mine on my back in my driveway in a little over 3 hours.
Oh by the way, I was able to get mine out without dropping the pick up tube.
😂

Wow. That leak turned into project! Nice job. #WhenTechsRockAmericaRolls #TechForce #techniciancareers #scholarships
I really enjoy and love it

I had the pickup tube inside the pan when putting it back on, had to hold the pan up while putting the tube back on with the new gasket
@@TheCumminsCowgirl Thank you! Wish I had hand model hands rather than farmer hands.
Video was great!
Hi, I have a 2018 3500 with the same problem. How do you explain to me that they want to lower the transmission to change the oil pan gasket?

@@TheCumminsCowgirlif you remove the transmission it’s easier but not necessary as you already know.
Where can I find that additional lifting bracket??
I bought the bracket from Oreilleys
Mine is leaking now. Where are you located. I was going to get done next week.
I’m in Lubbock, TX but I only offer aftermarket upgrades to customers not repair services
How much would that run? I have 2015 4x4 not lifted.
How many hours to do that???

@@TheCumminsCowgirl where would I find book time information on repair quotes?
