Just checked in an old save, it takes exactly 3 months to charge a colossus weapon. 3 months of complete anarchy, where normal people turn into murderous hedonists because it doesnt matter anymore if theire a good person, 3 months of people waging wars over spaceships and desperately trying to find a way to get off-planet without being shot down by the fleet blockading the planet, 3 months of the world falling apart because nobody wants to maintain roads or be a farmer if everyone will die soon anyways. By the time the beam hits, most will already be dead because they got slaughtered by roving bands of anarchists, starved to death or simply offed themselves because they couldnt take the stress of living for 3 months under an orbital damocles sword. The cruelest part of a Colossus is not that it murders or forcefully converts a whole planets civilisation, but the fact that it does not charge on the way to the planet.

If you really think about it, this is EXTREMELY terrifying. It's so slow, and even when the beam is fired, it takes a while until it really makes an effect. Months/years of agony for the planet's inhabitants. Truly horrific

Probably the weakest colossus design. Like, the entire thing comes apart, what? I know it's an uberfuturistic game with space psychics and star eaters, but that's just a little too absurd. Like another ship could just come in and blow apart one of those floaty pieces and then the whole ship is ruined
but that fits the collosus cause even the descprition says its basically powerless to attacks from anything else its literally just a giant weapon ment to do one thing hence why even a fleet of corvettes could kill it if it didnt have any back up.
