Hi Jasmine! I had a similar situation happen to me in Mexico. My phone completely died never turned on again before I even got a chance to check into my hotel. I was traveling alone, but I had cash. I exchanged pesos at the airport & took a taxi to my hotel. My hotel arranged for a driver to take me to a local shopping mall to purchase a phone. It’s imperative that if you are in Latin America you learn the basics. Learning Spanish is worth the time & effort because it will make your experiences so much smoother. You’re traveling to Latin America a lot & it’s only going to help you. I’m so happy that you are safe. God bless you & happy birthday 💕🎉🥳
Yeah, if you are going to be in Colombia for a while, it's a good idea to know a good amount of Spanish just in case cause Colombia is quite unsafe these days so you need to be aware in all ways
Danger is everywhere, just be extra careful!
These days Colombia is not for amateurs.
Columbia is beautiful and safe only ppl that get robbed are the drunk yt boys and unaware ppl. If you from the United States we face real immoral things
Love how humble you were and how you have the personality to connect with strangers, experience the raw culture, etc.
I'm glad things worked out for you!
I'm just being myself, thank you! ❤
Why would anybody with any Common Sense
go to Columbia Medellin?
That's like the cocaine-murder capital.
I wondered the same thing about passport bros.
I'm just wondering ma'am?
@@itsjasminegiselle
@@C-Lyfe85every big city is the cocaine-murder capital, lol. She just must learn Spanish asap
You have to tell us what happened to your roommate and everyone else that was there. I am so surprised none of them were able to help you. Glad you got in touch with your Dad and all is well.
I am glad that you've managed. When you go places, have a tech backup plan. Thanks for sharing your travelogue with us.
trust me, i know now 🙌
Thanks for this advice
ahhh I’ve been so into travel vlogs lately and I’m so glad i found your channel! I’ll be going to Guatemala in a few months and seeing fellow Black women enjoy Latin America makes me so excited and happy!
I’m sorry that happened, our phones are really our life lines. I can’t believe I only started using a local SIM on my last trip out of the country, before that I relied on wifi or whoever I was travelling with.
I’m glad that at least your phone wasn’t lost or stolen while out of the house, I imagine you would’ve been stressed getting back home.
I really enjoyed this vlog a lot, how you all went to the market and the dancing also. It almost made me want to cry actually since I was born in Costa Rica, and I guess I just felt the connection through your camera lens, the soul of the country and people really comes through. Also reminds me how my family lives in Latin America. It’s always good to remember the privileges we enjoy while living in 1st world countries :)
Your vlogs are great bc youre real, authentic and showing the truth of it all. You videos are like watching a sopa opera, we get sad with you, want to help you, want to advise you. It takes guts chica and youre doing it. In your previous vlog MX city, I felt that when you said you “just wanna go home”. ❤ be safe, be smart
Youre my hero Jasmine...good for you for rallying and thinking on your feet to resolve the phone issue far from home. Doing things afraid is something we all could learn.
Love your humble spirit! I'm so glad you were able to get a phone! Thanks for sharing with us the good and the bad that's why I enjoy watching your vlogs.
Thank you for watching ✨🫶🏽
I was there in July. I wanted to visit that market but it was to hot and humid. I’m glad you are still able to enjoy your trip even though it’s been difficult. It makes you realize how dependent we are of our phones.
I had to look at your video I thought you were about to trash Cartengena.I’m from Detroit and Cartengena is my second home I’m there every other month it’s a beautiful and fascinating place.Yes it’s very important to speak Spanish it took me five years of hard work but I finally speak the language well.Cartengena I will see you next month!!!!!!🥂🍾🎉
Tell ‘em! I also used to live in Detroit and live in Cartagena now with my wife who is from here and son who was born here. Whenever people from back home come visit they are always shocked at how safe it feels and how friendly people are in comparison. No gunshots, no junkies, racism isnt as bad.
@@ryansusman725 Congratulations 🍾 I’m going to eventually move there permanently and yes settle down and get married because the women are sooo damn fine!
Thank you for taking us along. Sounds like a humbling experience.
Definitely 🤧
That was an intense 🇨🇴 tour. Humbly!!! Good thing the tour guy had 2 helpers for safety. Glad to see a vlog. Thank you.
yesss they all did such a great job.
Hey Sis do you have air bnb info an tour guide info great job
Love makes the world go round. Glad you had a great day.
...the dance break was everything!
Hi Houstonian..you are already hooked..Cartagena never leaves your mind. You did Cattagena the right way..Many people never venture to Bazurto even the locals
I’m so over travelling. You do it for me and I’ll watch. Thx for posting
I always travel with an extra phone. I just have an iPhone XR refurb I bought for cheap on Amazon ($200) that I keep in my bag in case I ever need it. It’s essential that you always have a phone when traveling in Colombia.
I’m from Chicago and you make me ready to do my solo traveling you are very brave and I love your videos
Hello, I came across your video and I’m currently watching as I type! My husband and I visited Cartagena back in 2017 and we stayed at one of the Tcherassi Hotels which is now Uma where you were on the rooftop!! I was screaming because we had a good time there and enjoyed food, cigars and drinks at the rooftop all to ourselves! We stayed there because of a mishap at our original hotel which was Bastion! Anyhoo back to viewing….
First time watching your channel. Enjoyed it so much I subscribe. Thank you for sharing your travels with us. 😊
Thank you! Welcome to the family ✨🧚🏽♀️
Loved this vlog. I am glad you got to enjoy the real Cartagena.
Thank you ✨🫶🏽
Omg, this had me dancing along to the lesson lol Fun!!
You seem so fun to explore with! Enjoy!!!❤
thank you! I get excited over every little thing chile 😂❤
Hi Jasmine, I love your braveness & how you like to explore new adventures. I’m that person but wish I had someone to travel with. I have done solo trips in the states. And as I get older it gets a little scary to travel alone but I’m not giving up. Oh how I wish that I knew you. Although I’m much older I still enjoy learning & traveling when possible.
I always enjoy watching your videos. 😃
My boyfriend lives in Grenada. He runs through electronics like water. The electrical currents are different. Use a surge protector when possible and of course, a backup device. Markets are beautiful places, but easy to get sensory overload.😊 Love your blogs
Glad to see you are ok...there is a large black expat group that is at Vibes sports bar in boca grande if you ever need help
Nice vid! I was hyped when I saw you stay at the Infinitum I stay there twice a year when I go to Bocagrande. 33rd floor.
Same floor I was on lol that building’s amazing
Coming to check on you , noticed you haven’t been posting ! We miss you ! Hope all is well 🫶🏾
New sub here. ❤ your channel as I'm binge watching now. Pray that all is well and happy belated bday🎉😊
Sounds like you're ready to start making turtle trips over rice on Fridays😅....Another great blog capturing authenticity..Stay safe Queen❤
I wish I didn’t have a fear of heights! That view was beautiful!!! When you showed the pool below my ankles literally start shaking 😅

Just came across your channel, thanks for being authentic ❤
Stay positive, keep ya head up!

Phenominal Vlogging Jasmine! Columbia
Thank you ✨
I'm glad to see you're enjoying yourself (even though there are many trials and tribulations)!!
Can I ask, where do you find your music mixes?? They're wonderful!
thank you ! ❤❤❤ All of my music that aren't instrumentals, comes from Soundcloud. Just know I put in hours and HOURS to find them lol
@@itsjasminegisellethank you, I’ve been binge watching today for 10 HOURS!
Thanks for the video Queen👍🏿. Just a small request, where can I find this playlist😁🔥
So ain’t nobody else concerned that we ain’t seen Jas in two weeks
Force restart iPhone
Press and quickly release the volume up button.
Press and quickly release the volume down button.
Press and hold the side button.
When the Apple logo appears, release the side button.
tried that a million and one times. No luck 😅 even Apple said she's done with lol
@@itsjasminegiselle aww man that sucks!
Hi Jasmine! First of all, I love your name! I have always loved that name. Anyway, your videos are helping me to determine if I could really do something like this. I’ve lived abroad before in Bermuda, but I was a kid. Adulting in a foreign country/place is much different! I do miss Bermuda, though! Sometimes I think I am just too boujie to venture into some of the things you are doing, but hey…you never know, right? As you said in another video, being in a different environment often takes your mind off of the things that seemed to bother you so much before. Maybe I will experience that. Well, I am married with children, and need to convince my family to try this as well. We shall see! Thanks for the great content!
Thanks for sharing Jasmine❤😊
Challenges such as yours build character and make for great testimonies. As a solo traveler YOU are your own contingency plan, navigator, source of survival, etc.
I’ll never forget being stuck in Portugal because the airline company thought I made a fraudulent ticket, only to find out that my suffix was the issue. I wasn’t that strong of a Portuguese speaker, but I marched up to the office of TAP airlines and explained what could be the issue on their end. They profusely apologized and upgraded me to business class. Moral of the story, LEARN the LANGUAGE.
Hola muchachita! Yes, we are very blessed. ❤ may God continue to bless and protect you.
Thank you so much! same to you ❤
yea my phone got jacked in Rio De Janeiro a couple of years ago. That was no fun. I'm back in Brazil now and watch carefully when I'm on the street but you can get an unlocked phone so you can travel with it wherever you are mostly.
Keep your head up stay positive ❤
Assuming you got your phone from the Verizon store or someone major like that, I'm sure they have those stores in Columbia as well and they could have helped you with your phone or giving you a replacement or something. Or you could have gone to the American embassy for help in contacting your family, etc.
There is no Verizon or T Mobil or At&t in Colombia. Bad if you lose you phone there. Will ruin you trip for sure. I bring two phones keep my USA phone in the room safe and go out with a local Colombian phone. Like $8 a month to hook up a unlocked phone there.
We do take a lot for granted…. I’m in aww; every time I visit a different country.
Same here 🥹
That happened to me in DR, I only had my laptop which I used to fix it by downloading a iPhone fix it program. But it was scary definitely.
Wow.. the countryside… the part you never see on these flogs 🥰🥰.. they call it in Spanish, el campo… or el rancho en 🇲🇽
the REAL Cartagena ❤❤
Awesome! What is the name of the marketplace where you ate the crab/seafood rice? That looked delicious 😋
Bazurto market. Tour guide info is linked in the description 👩🏽💻
I had a similar experience, although it didn't happen while I was traveling abroad. Dealing with two-step verification can be really frustrating, as you could end up losing access to everything. I was locked out of my main email address because of a problem with my phone, which meant I couldn't verify anything either through phone or email.
How do you like living abroad? I loved how it was outside of the U.S when I went to Europe on a work trip.
❤❤❤❤❤ love it
thank you for watching ❤
People say how unsafe Colombia is, but every continent/country in the world has unsafe places. I love 🇨🇴!
great video been to Cartagena but not bazurto market, always have to phones, no matter how new your main phone is.
That's a sign to get out of Columbia and stay in the states for a min. Be SAFE
its Colombia babes and Colombia is safe aside from the border with Venezuela cause of all the illegal immigrants running in
The Double U people was looking like: 😳
double U people?! 😭😭
HI I LIVE IN MEXICO AND THE SAME THING HAPPENT TO ME IT IS FACTUALLY THAT MOISTER FROM THE AIR FROM YOUR ENVIRONMENT KILLS YOUR BATTERY, SO THE NEXT TIME ALWAYS STORE YOUR PHONE IN A CLOTH IN A DRY AREA LIKE A CLOSET OR DRESSER DRAW OR JUST BUY A NEW BATTERY FOR YOUR PHONE AND YOU WILL GET YOUR PHONE BACK FACTS SUPPER HUMIDITY CAN CAUSSE THE BATTTERY TO DYE OUT OF NO WHERE LOL
So what was the outcome with your phone? While you were going through all that did you remember to take the battery out of your phone and put it back in after one minute? Sometimes we forget the simple things cause our stress level. My phone got snatched out of my hand in Tijuana so I know how it is without your phone. But I had the added worry of them getting into my accounts.
Where can I download that Giveon like I want you remix you were playing in your Mexico City video, luv your videos keep it up
99% of my music comes from SoundCloud
Leaving for Medellin at the end of the month🎉🎉
Which do you prefer Medellin or Cartagena?
I hope you have the best timeee!! I absolutely LOVE Medellin. I would go back in a heartbeat. I truthfully don't feel like I did Cartagena how I wanted to, to properly compare the two cities :(
This was fascinating! What shoes do you wear for all that walking?
Some very comfortable ones lol!
You looked amazing smoking that cigar ❤
why thank you
@@itsjasminegiselle I heard you say Houston in your video. I'm from Beaumont.
My mom going next month any advice for her?
You don't need to travel all the way to the US just for a phone. They sell the same exact phones in Colombia too.
I’m aware, thank you.
Was your family able to send you funds to get the phone and how did you pay for food those days without access to a phone? I’m taking notes over here.
Ahhh good question. I cut out a lot of my talking segment because I didn't want it to drag on and on lol. But, essentially I travel with only 2 physical cards. 1 of my cards was stolen my very first night in Medellin NYE so I was left with only 1 physical card.
I keep no more than $1,000 on the card at a time just in case something happens to it. My digital cards are used for bigger transactions and when I need to transfer money over, I just go into my banking app. At the time of my phone breaking, I had about $200 left on the card that I had on me. Luckily I was able to get in touch with my dad in enough time so he could buy me a plane ticket out of Colombia.
@@itsjasminegiselle wow. I’m so happy you are ok and have such a great support system. Thank you for taking us along with your journey.
I’m currently solo in New Zealand. You made me write down all important numbers down!
I’m kind of surprised you changed plans based on your phone situation honestly. I get we can be reliant on our phone for so many things that get us through our daily but I think the lesson I’d take away is not to be so dependent on a device that was not always available at one point in life. I’ve been out of the country without a phone before, my phone got left in a taxi, it taught me not to NEED it. Hopefully that doesn’t sound to “mom” but I only say that bc it seems that it ruined a good part of your travel which is sad to see. Keep enjoying your travels love!
Of course it did lol but eventually I got over it, it definitely took a good week.
This happen to me in the DR, my phone got messed up parasailing. Then I had to travel without a phone
Why u said u won't be able to come back to Colombia for two years?
Because I’ll be all the way across the globe 🌎🛩️
😂😂 he was actually teaching you the correct way to smoke the cigar. 😅 no comparison to hookah cuz we usually swallow the smoke. Cigar don’t swallow just inhale and exhale.
I know he was that's why I was paying full attention lol I really want to learn but I don't swallow hookah smoke girl 😂
I know that out of the country dead phone thing all too well. My phone went out in Belize the morning of my birthday May 17, I had an old tablet with a few apps so I was able to let people know on Instagram that I was ok. I was without a phone for a week. Couldn’t get on banking apps because of the 2 step verification and all that! I got 2 phones when I got back to the US! 😩
MAAM WHERE YOU AT
I don't see myself traveling to many places because of my food sensitivities. Anyway, thanks for sharing.
You’ll be surprised at what you’re allergic to in the States that you can eat in other countries with no problem
The afro influence is strong.
VERRYY.
Walking with 2 phones out in Colombia is wild. Be safe.
Exactly who is walking with two phones?
If you ever face this kinda issue just know you can go to the American Embassy and they will help you ❤
thank you but there is no U.S embassy in Cartagena ❤️
@@itsjasminegiselle oh my ..thank goodness you were able to manage 👀💜
Love that you are showing more of colombia and the same lame passport bros looking for street women.
We need mkre people like you to show my country to the world
What's your problems with passport bros. There's a difference between successful men who travel to find wives and dudes who travel to play around and not respect different cultures.
Don't mix the two up. What's your problems with passport bros?? Don't mix the two up.
You are amazing!!!! You need a cameraman???? lol
Haha sure do
I don't understand how u bin thr 3wkz & haven't seen anything.... explored 😢
Must always have a back up even if it's a cheap burner phone.
Be Mind Full. ❤❤❤
You ate “Crush” From Finding Nemo 🐢🐢🐢😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
we ARE more blessed than we realize! People dont realize how hard people want to come to a developed country like the USA to get a job that doesnt consist of a life working at a market
That is the Latin culture. Which ever Latin American country you visit you will experience so much of that 😊 safe travels!
❤❤❤❤
My stomach would have been toe not tore/torn up 😂

I'm 9 mins in and your giving me a heart attack
Stay positive. The city you intended to do can be visited later with friends!
I wish the best for you, take some Spanish classes to try to learn as much as you can while you are there. Or use the app and or translator app. Thanks for sharing.
I know you are always so busy. Do you have time to build a website for my business? If so how should I reach out to you to discuss.
Took you 5 days to get out the room 😭
