- 2023 started off with my first solo trip ever, to the lovely cartagena, colombia!
i embarked on the trip of a lifetime, and i cannot wait to be back!

DAY 1
00:14-02:26
checked into my airbnb located within the palmetto sunset, and grabbed dinner on the strip at riquisimo bbq

02:27-07:35

enjoyed breakfast at plaza majagua and explored the old walled city/getsemani area by foot
had lunch at maria bonita (and had the BEST mojito!)
rented a cabana at the bocagrande beach
dinner at ely cafe bocagrande

DAY 3 (new years eve)

lunch at epoca (such a cute spot, would recommend)
visited bocagrande beach for the sunset
had dinner at a restaurant on the strip (not sure of the name)
brought in the new year in the old walled city!
DAY 4 (new years day)
11:44-14:28
breakfast @labriochecolombia
strolled through the getsemani area and the old walled city and took lots of photos

dinner @sierpecaribe my absolute FAV spot in cartagena ✨
DAY 5

visited the rosario islands via @baruboats through airbnb

explored the old walled city and shopped for accessories!
visited bocagrande beach for one last sunset

everyone was really friendly as well! i stayed at a airbnb where there was security also so coming in at night especially i felt safe

i stayed in the bocagrande area so would Uber into the old town / getsemani then take it by foot for the most part while in the city! Uber is very trustworthy, cheap, and reliable out there

And ok. Thanks. I will definitely plan with that in mind. One last thing: were there a lot of people trying to scam you while you were walking around? I saw in your video someone tried to sell you something on the beach, but in other people’s videos it seemed a lot worse plus scamming involved. How were you able to avoid it as a solo female traveler?
on the beach as well as walking around in the getsemani/old town area, there were a good amount of people who would try to sell me things. i learned to politely decline, and if they insisted on following me/continuing their pitch just ignoring them! on the beach def beware of the people who say they'll give you a 'free,' massage- bc it most def is not

welcome on over sis! thanks for tuning in. they required that you at least had a negative covid test but only if you weren’t vaccinated. i did fill out the check mig also! interestingly enough leaving out of the US they barely checked for it 🤔

yes i felt safe, my biggest tip is doing the majority of your activities during the daylight hours, and if you do want group activities, booking through airbnb experiences as you can read through reviews. as far as transport, i was always in ubers so it made it easy to report any issues if needed/have a reliable way of getting around

Quick question: How are you getting into the walled city from Bocagrande? is it a quick walk like 15 mins or?
ahh i love that!! the boat tour was definitely one of my trip highlights 🥰 it was about a 10-15 minute drive from the side of bocagrande i was on to the walled city, but there’s lots to explore on foot in this area like shops/restaurants and the beach

Great Vlog! I’m heading there in August. I heard you mention in the vid you were waiting on an Uber. I read online that Uber is illegal there. Is that true?
im not sure if things have changed since i visited but Uber was the only way I got around during my trip, and it was very reliable and cheap!
How did you get wifi or cell service to call for Ubers while in Cartagena?
i purchased a SIM card out there through their cell providers

i mainly used my debit card while there (ubers, restaurants, most shops), but did exchange my dollars for some street shopping in the old town!

i brought a flat sheet with me to wrap around while changing in public, but of course in less crowded areas / safe alleys
How did you get around the city?
i used uber, it's really cheap there!
How was transportation?
i relied on uber, and it was really easy and cheap to get around with it. they were always readily available and safe!

$1200 for 5 nights in colombia is highway robbery. Considering an apartment like that wouldn't cost more than $500 usd for the entire month.
🤷🏾♀️ can’t fight the airbnb prices lol - they making a profit for sure in that case
@chinezeslife we definitely can. If we don't book these astronomically expensive airbnbs, they'd have to lower their prices instead of trying to get over on people.
