  • This week's REV test is about three valiant vans and how they cope helping Erin move house. Yes, she's called in REV Removals because she's too cheap to get in the professionals! So here are three of the most popular short wheelbase vans as searched for on Auto Trader.
    Racing driver Vicki Butler-Henderson, Millennial motoring journo Rachael Hogg, and mum Erin Baker (REV!) are testing three of the UK's most popular cars for dogs - the Honda Civic, Land Rover Discovery and Volvo V90 - based on how people search for them at Auto Trader.
    They're looking at how easily they can fit into your lifestyle, covering practicality, connectivity, and ride and handling.

      even VW can see that the Transit is the best van in its class. the deal between VW and Mercedes to sell the sprinter as the VW Crafter is at an end and i hear there is a new version due in the next year or so. rumour has it that the next crafter will be a rebadged Transit.

    You forgot to talk about security. Ford is one of the easiest to break in to and why suppliers do not work on this I am not sure.
    How about measuring what size pallet you can be fitted inside and options, and is there a spare wheel of those punctures when you are not expecting them!

      @@GregsMowing - It's quite practical. But surely not worth all the fuss, like most "electronics".
      I've got an inverter on mine, 240V with normal EU "schucko" socket. 600W output comes quite handy from time to time.
      Got it quite cheap on Ebay eons ago. ;-) Has been jumping between different cars and vans for a while. Worth the trouble if you need power on the go.
      Worth saying that for 150/200W output you can get them for the likes of 20€ and up... ;-)

    Driven all of these models (1-2 year older then these ones) in harsh work environments and only VW stands the test of time. Built to last. Vauxhall/Renault/Opel vans suck bigtime just like Fords. Yes, when they're new all's well but after some 10.000 KM. only VW rides like new. Maybe in a family setting they will all suffice.

    Transit Custom by a mile. Loads of extras, better build quality and cheaper spares, plus bigger than the VW. The VW badge used to be considered 'cool' .....until everyone else stuck a surf sticker on them. It's since then just become a c*ntwagon. Shame really. They're now overpriced with NO EXTRAS except for the badge. They simply rested on their laurels whilst the competition ran ahead. Don't believe me? Go and test drive both and then decide! My VW T5 blew the turbo, I hired a T6 which felt exactly the same as my T5 which was disappointing then hired a Transit Custom Limited. The same year(2015) at the time was over £4000 cheaper but came with things such as heated seats, heated front windscreen, electric folding door mirrors, AC and a host of other things at a cheaper price. The decision was simple.
    My business partner was about to trade his VWT5 v2 in and said he'd NEVER buy a Transit. A few weeks later we went on a kitesurfing trip of Hayle in Cornwall. He asked if he could drive the Transit..........He now drives one!!

    I've driven the vivaro (renault trafic) with the 125 engine in it. it drives very nicely but at the bottom end there's absolutely no power what so ever. you can tell it's only a 1.6

    • @crpth1
      @crpth1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's correct but what you can tell it's not "that's only a 1.6". What is very obvious is that the turbo kick in slow and steady in really low rpm's.
      I believe the ECU reprograms will be coming around very very quickly. ;-)

    Absolutely useless ‘review’. How can you compare a petrol van against diesels??? Isn’t the petrol for congestion charge areas? No one in their right mind would buy a petrol van. 20 odd years ago VBH reviews were watched by people that ignored the content and vehicles......looks like nothing has changed there then. Will go and find a proper review as I am in the market for a new van.

    • @petelattimer6808
      @petelattimer6808 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      dont bother with the reviews. Transit wins hands down. you will be hard pressed to find a van (or variant in the case of badge engineered ones like the vivaro/trafic or sprinter/crafter) i HAVENT driven/lived with (for at least a few days) and ive NEVER found ANYTHING id take over a Transit. they ride better, handle better and have more comfortable seats. the VWs have much harder seats so if (like i do) you spend long spells at the wheel, you get a numb bum!

    • @vamboroolz1612
      @vamboroolz1612 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pete Lattimer I totally agree with you on the Transit front. Am concerned re the problems on the ‘new’ engine and the rust front,( I have had my current lwb high roof transit for over 14 years but now want something smaller...maybe a year old or so). Have had a look at the usual suspects but keep coming back to the transit, mainly because of cheap running costs and what you get for your money. Horses for courses, but it looks like it’s going to be another Transit. Thanks for your input!, appreciated.
