  • Not that long ago most car manufacturers only offered petrol or diesel cars. But today, the choice of power sources now includes environmentally-focused ones, including some with zero emissions.
    What will be the future fuel of choice be, and what are the pros and cons of each? This week the ladies compare fuel types, with a petrol, plug-in hybrid, and an electric car.

    Petrol always feels better to drive, diesel only for mpg and good torque, hybrid, Can you afford to fix them in 10yrs time? 🤔
    Full electric, can't afford one unless it's old and I don't want an old electric car, thanks and anyway that silence thing is weird lol

    Not sure Vicki wins the charging points as yes, the Stelvio is physically quickest to fill, but you have to wait that 5 mins every time you fill. I hardly ever have to wait for my EV to charge as just like a phone you plug it in when going to bed and it's ready and waiting in the morning. Time spent waiting 0 😁 ... It's only those super long journeys when you have to wait and let's face it, after 270 miles you would probably need a toilet and coffee break anyway. 20 point to the Jag then! 🤣

    wow, the presenters are all so attractive in different ways. Near the beginning it was mentioned that plugging at home will take 10-12 hours to recharge with a tone of voice that seems to suggest it's a bad option when in fact it is the best option. First off the battery will not be fully empty at the end of most days and then plugging it in overnight from 10pm to 7am in the morning is 9 hours of recharging and should fill you up for the next day. The first rule of EV is you have to plug it in (at home is most convenient), once you're learned to do that then your adventure may begin.

    Demand is very high for new and pollution free cars, most people are embracing electric cars with sales starting to match petrol cars, electric cars are cheaper to buy because you can get government help so with the news, a 2030 or 2035 is realistic, it is estimated by almost all expects and researchers that there will be no fossil fuels devices or cars anywhere with most counties having long ago banned them. Technology marches on and 2050 will be mostly pollution free and very different most likely. here in the UK, electric and mostly hybrid cars are a common sight

    I run a smart car around town and a Audi 4.2TDi out of town 900k on one tank 7.4/100 and 800NM of torque, I laugh at many eletric cars on big journey's. My next form of transport will be an electric mobility scooter but until then Carpe Diem.

    How weird! No mention of price comparison, when asked the Outlander PHEV range she gave an answer in a different format than the other two and no real life use situations given to compare car ease of use and cost, like travelling into London and parking for most of a day for example. For average mileage the Outlander PHEV would be in the middle of the 2 at about 70MPG. Range is hard because if running around the town no petrol is used but with a full charge and tank you will see about 350 on the guessometer. I charge every couple of days at about £1.10 a pop. It's only when you go on a long journey the engine is used with battery in Hybrid mode taking your MPG to about 35 for motorway and 55 for A roads. The one they reviewed is the improved model with larger battery and engine. Also they didn't mention that you can have a subsidized 16A or 32A charge point fitted at home to make charging faster than the 13A socket they mention. Mine was fitted free. I can tell you that the Outlander PHEV feels no slouch when kicking off in electric. The dual electric motors give instant woosh to beat most things at the lights without much effort. For reference, I have a MY17 Outlander PHEV and an '06 BMW Z4MR, my wife a Yaris Hybrid I use occasionally. Flimsy journalism.

    Zero CO2 for the EV - what about how the electricity was generated? Then there's all those lithium-ion batteries that'll need replacing after 5 years.

    • @ChannelEverything
      @ChannelEverything 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Chris Wales 😂 replacing after 5 years ???

    • @Martin-dx5zs
      @Martin-dx5zs 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Chris Wales after 8 years, the warranty ensures the battery will be at least over 85% of its original capacity. After 8 years, imagine all of the running and maintenance costs of a petrol car. Well I can't, because my first car was electric and I could never justify buying anything else.

    • @Martin-dx5zs
      @Martin-dx5zs 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Chris Wales ps, I power mine with 100% solar.

    • @Chriswales
      @Chriswales 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Martin-dx5zs I wish you luck with it, but I'll stick with my 15 year old diesel car. My daily commute is 75 miles & I wouldn't trust a EV in the middle of winter. Running costs are very reasonable, nothing serious has gone wrong in the 12 years I've owned it & it does over 60mpg. EV maybe the future but we're a good few years off that.
