  • The pituitary gland is located at the bottom of your brain and above the inside of your nose. Endoscopic pituitary surgery (also called transsphenoidal endoscopic surgery) is a minimally invasive surgery performed through the nose and sphenoid sinus to remove pituitary tumors.

its easier to say what the least important organ is than the most important. without bones we would be floppy piles of flesh, without a brain we wouldnt be able to move, without a liver our systems would be flooded with toxins, etc. meanwhile the pancreas just sits there till it explodes

@@mitrandhir69 Dr.s where going to put me on medication to shrink it. After blood tests they said it'll have to be removed surgically. Honestly it was better that way. Look on the bright side at least you'll get nose job! Not exactly but I had a lot of airway issues with my nose so that got sorted. Still healing but nearly 3 months on I feel good. If your going for surgery best of luck, stay positive and you'll be fine.

I had the Transsphenoidal surgery for a pituitary tumor in 1979 at Mass General in Boston, Massachusetts, by Dr. Nicholas Zervas, Head Neurosurgeon at that time. The tumor was the size of a large orange. Had been quite ill for many years with migraine headaches and never started a period until I was 29 years old, 10 years later. I went on to have two successful pregnancies after that and didn't go into menopause until I was 53 years old. Directly after the surgery, I developed Diabetes Insipidus and used the DDAVP nasal spray to keep from becoming dehydrated. I was also given Bromocriptine for some time after surgery to disperse of any residual tumor left in that area. I would be happy to speak with anyone here if they have any questions.

I couldn’t be pregnant but the ER told me that I might have a pituitary tumor; as I don’t have regular periods, bad headaches and lactation it fit.

So you arrive at hospital one day b4 surgery.
Doctors chat about your op and do tests to make sure you are fit and well.
Go to theatre and have op lasting 3 to 5 hours.
Wake up and you will feel no pain. You will have a pee bag attached to ur bladder.
You will be given lots of drips to keep you hydrated.
Nurses will monitor your urine production for 2 r 3 days
You will gain weight but that's because of the drips.
The weight will drop back after a few weeks.
When you get sent home have the strongest pain meds to hand cuz ull need them for a few weeks

Yknow i just had an MRI scan done Monday to check if i have a tumor on my Pituitary Gland, and im not being referred to a hospital and being told to schedule an appointment in the surgical department- im only 15 turning 16 and its genuinely really scary to just even think about surgery when it’s something that’s scared me my entire life as a child. i know it’s a safe procedure and all that but I’ve got some really bad anxiety and i tend to overthink a lot- im really hoping for the best since my moms starting to worry that this wasn’t a simple case of me overproducing hormones that could be fixed with meds but a tumor that needs a surgery to fix :/
