    What a lovely quiet place, perfect. Careful on that chair haha... I have a real phobia of things over my nose and mouth, so that looks like my worst nightmare, but obviously it works wonders for you, 7 hours is amazing. Your pack looks massive, you disappear behind it!

    • @FlyingHaggisFilms
      @FlyingHaggisFilms  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes Bry, the pack is a standard army long range piece of kit necessary for transporting winter gear, the Falklands war proved them effective but with ammo, gun and a rediculouse ammount of nee pain it must have been he'll on earth for the young men.

    If I can offer a suggestion re the camo cream... don't. Getting caught wearing the camo clothing you can pass off as rugged outdoor wear. Getting bounced with your face cammed up is a bit harder. use that scrim scarf, or shemargh over your face when you need to be non-reflective and it tucks away when you suddenly come across civvies. Great to see you getting it done in spite of the sleep apnea etc. Inspiring.

    Hello Sir.
    Thank you for another great video.
    If i may give you some advice on discrete movement and stay in the woods.
    My experience is 5 years in the Royal Danish Army Home Guard and 2½ years in the Royal Danish Army as a Jutland Dragoon (Jutland Dragoon Regiment (JDR) at Holstebro, mid-west Jutland in Denmark.) and six month deployment to Iraq DANCON Team 8.
    I was at a Mechanised Infantry company at the JDR, "Panser Infanterist" (PINF) in Danish also known as Panzer Grenadier
    Woods where our home, our playground, our turf.
    We owned the woods were ever we go and our official motto was "Videre Sine Videri", translated to "See without being seen".
    1: Applying concealment cream requires EVERY bit of skin covered; neck, ears (Inside and outside), eyelids, hands, arms in short sleeves, etc, if naked skin is shown, its a re-do.
    2: No fires at all and no hot meals or drinks at all; you´d be surprised how far the smell of warm cacao or coffee can travel in the woods and the smell of a fire can travel for kilometers.
    And that also means no smoking.
    3: When setting up camp; less is more, meaning that you dont need anything more than a sleepingpad and a sleepingback, preferably with a sleepingbag/raincover on.
    Everything above waist height is a no go, and nothing must be above the natural vegetation in the close vicinity.
    If rain is forecasted, and the situation allows, then a simple A-frame tarpaulin, preferable with your rucksack as the "pole" in the headend, then you can stay hidden behind that.
    The footend is flat to the ground, unless its too tight to the ground; dont touch the tarpualin when moving around under it, it makes noises that are relative easily heard.
    4: Avoidcamping in deciduous forests; dry leaves makes alot of noise and the twigs also brakes easily and you have no cover from the ground and to the top; pine and spruce woods are preferable.
    They stay green (The majority of them) all year round, gives soft bedding, makes no noise and the needles is a excelent source of Vitamin-C.
    5: No light AT ALL, not even red light.
    We actually caught a patrol on exercise, when they used the light on their watches; we saw it clearly in our NVG´s and stalked and "killed" them without them knowing anything.
    6: When moving; always expect the enemy to be up behind the next tree.
    Sound dictates speed; the softer and wetter the ground is, the faster the speed.
    And always move from cover to cover; in a wood, that means from a tree to another tree.
    Game trails are excellent for movement, the are already trampled down so footprints dont stay for long if at all, they often go the easiest way through the terrain and traffic is expected meaning that the brain often filters out footprint in them.
    7: And something most of the girls, and some of the boys in the Army had to learn; NO makeup, perfume, washing detergent with perfume; i have actually caught several people by there smell alone; and the smell i caught them by was always the artificial smell, not the natural body odour.
    Oh, and yes Meindl boots are EXCELLENT boots, they last for years and years and is a God send for your feet.
    All in all, a good attempt and the best to you and your channel in the future.
    Greetings
    Brian from Denmark.

    • @FlyingHaggisFilms
      @FlyingHaggisFilms  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Brian, thank you for a generouse and comprehensive share, I can certainly work towards such a high standard in a future film. As a civillian, I was only playing at making a good film and showing the dd hammock, I agree, in low profile if I were truly hiding, all that you have mentioned would be absolutely vital. For me it would be a Dutch bivi virtually below ground surface, in the bag rations, nettle or pine tea, no russeling or noise, totally invisible even against heat cameras with hidden foil, bivi, the detection from military dogs would be impossible to avoid. As a civilliam of course its all about pushing boundaries for fun in avoiding local land owners through evasion. You have now inspired me to make a proper evasion avoidence film and uo my game 🎥. Will start my planning now. Thank you for your very generouse guidance.
      Yours on celebration of freedom, defence and democracy and of course hiding in dence forrests. Haooy days. Harry 👍

      Im glad that i could be of any help.
      I fully understand that you act as a civilian and fun and joy comes first, i wont give you 10 push up per "mistake" for that 😀
      And it sounds like you know exactly how to act and what to do and when to do it.
      When you feel for it, go out into the woods escape and evasion style, and then ask someone to go find you.
      Tell them where you are within, lets say, 1km2, that should give them a chance, set a realistic time limit and the scene for some intense minutes are set.
      The loser buys pizza and beers.
      I remember that we had something called "Rabbit race" in the Army;
      First thing friday morning, we were shipped off to the furthest end of our training area, roughly 7km in a straight line, and we were told that when we got through the gate at the barracks, we where off for the weekend.
      You had only the uniform you stood in, no navigation aids at all.
      If you got caught (Them physically touching you), you were sent back to the starting point, no matter how close to the gate you where.
      The sergeant and officers were going to hunt you and catch you and you knew that they were already in position.
      Doing "Rabbit race" you learned three things; be quiet, move stealthy and run FAST!
      And about dogs; not all of them are as good as the owner says, i have evaded service dogs, dogs for hunting and "civilian" dogs.
      And a British SAS told us how to, lets says, "handle", the dog if it attacks.
      I wont go into detail about that.
      Remember that you should only do what YOU want, this is your channel and above all; enjoy and have fun in the outdoors.
