It’s a specific trend among urban rich Pakistanis, specially Lahoris, to have a fake put up accent, even when they might have never even stepped out of Pakistan or might have just lived a year abroad. Any other accent there is considered “paindu” (villager in Punjabi) and they all mostly consider Indian accent also as “paindu” because it doesn’t sound foreign. Among that trend, it was just refreshing to see him being easy in his natural accent, nothing wrong in that and nothing wrong in us appreciating it either. That’s the background context that we are basing our comments on. It’s not about nationalism, but about their stupidity to put up a fake foreign accent in a desi country lol. I thought I should tell you before you go on labelling everyone around as fake nationalists. Also, nothing wrong in being a nationalist, I’d wear my nationalism as a badge of pride! I feel sad for those who have no cultural pride and rather self-loath everything that they are. How pathetic an existence that would be to hate your own self.
