I here you CC brother I appreciate what you do, I too had many bikes small and big had to bad accidents when I was younger. I'm now 50 in good shape and brought a 2015 yamaha r3 off a older gentleman with only 350 miles and I absolutely love it get compliments everywhere I go ride safe brother.
..just turned 62 this summer and got back on my Ninja 650 for the 1st time in 2 yrs, after suffering a serious medical condition, that has since gotten better. This coming from a guy that grew up on a '85 Suzuki GS 700 ES, a 600 Katana, GSX R600, and GSX R750. The Ninja 650 fits me perfectly...smooth ride and will beat 95% of any car out there if needed . Not a race bike but very nice for cruising around town or country roads !
I just got a 2023 Ninja 650 and it is incredible. All the power you can reasonably want, super nimble in the city, and darned stable and steady on the freeways at 70+ mph. This bike does it all and does not need to be any bigger, heavier, or more powerful.
I feel you cycle cruza. I'm on vacation in Norway and it's so cool to see so many different motorcycle types and sizes on the roads! The maximum speed around here is about 80km/h on the country roads but it is sketchy on the blind corners around the mountains . You totally hit the nail with our issue we have in America about fragile egos and the constant need to validate ourselves through others' perceptions. We should be concerned about having fun and being safe instead of fitting in gender stereotypes. I just wanted to say there is nothing wrong about being a motorcycle rider that happens to be a woman 😅 (if any guy is concerned about that lol). It is far more respectable to have a reputation of being a skilled and safe rider than just owning a particular machine! Rubber side down everyone!
I have a Suzuki GSX-8S, got it a little over a month ago, so far I love it. As a small child (6-9 yrs old) I rode on the back of my 2 cousins 4 wheelers and loved it. At the age of 13 my parents got me my own, a 2000 Polaris Magnum 325 4x4 and I rode the dog sh!t outta that thing. I still have it but I need a lot of tlc. 2006-2007 I rode a buddies Kawasaki 125 dirtbike and loved that even more (he had a Suzuki LTZ 250 that i also ride a couple of times). In 2007 he got a Suzuki LTZ 400 sport quad that he let me ride 2 times, love at first ride. In 2008 I got my own LTZ 400, the all Black SE. Still have it and ride of from time to time. Just enough to keep the carb from gunning up and the fuel from going bad. I love all kinds of moto whether it be dirt or street.
I'm 60 and after a 30 year hiatus of non riding I bought a 2022 Yamaha YZFf-R3 60th Anniversary World GP edition and it 's definitely a blast from my previous +600cc bikes. BTW I feel much better concerning physical safety using the Helite Turtle 2 electronic bag and 👍on the video.
I'm 50 and planninging to get back into street riding after an almost 20 year hiatus. My current list of potential bikes includes the Ninja 400, the Royal Enfield Hunter 350, and the Triumph Speed 400. I neither need the ability to travel ridiculous speeds nor impress anyone with whatever I ride. My eye was initially on the Z125 Pro, but I shifted away from it as I will need to occasionally travel on highways. I have to say that I'm bummed by the lack of analog dials on the latest offerings. Yes, I'm an oldschool dinosaur.
I agree displacement is just a number. There are fast and slow bikes of all displacements and that doesn't make them any less fun. Have owned many bikes including four completely different ones i have now. The only thing i will say is a 689cc, 75hp bike is not really a small bike. It is pretty well past mid range for what the world has to offer. It needs to be ridden with a lot more respect than something like a 250 rebel.
I find as a general rule if I have a 250cc I ride it like a 125cc. If I have a 500cc I ride it like a 250cc that way it's never disappointing. An mt-07 is very fast if you ride it flat out. 0-60mph is under 4 seconds. 1/4mile is as fast as a bmw i8 or a M4
I've had 3 bikes so far. 98 suzuki dr350se (duel sport), 09 suzuki gs500f (sporty looking) and now have a 04 BMW R1150rt (sport touring). Had the most fun on the little 350 and most comfort on the 1150. Can take turns the fastest and best lean angle on the 500f All of them are fun in their own ways.
I ride an MT-07 most days, and a Bandit 1250s for highway runs and traveling. Both bikes have been absolute gems, and perfect at their jobs. I can’t see replacing them; they’ll be in my garage until I’m done riding. I’ve also got an old sumo/dual sport project waiting for me to work on. The thing I need next is a garage queen for special occasions…
@@matthewcochran3325 ODB (ol’ dirty bandit) is a bit heavy for the twisties, and hard to keep near the speed limit around town, but she completely devours miles on the highway. I think of her as a loyal wife: she’s not quite the looker she was 15 years ago, and she’s heavier than some people’s bikes, but she’s always there for me, keeps me comfy, never complains, always makes me smile and never let me down. She’s low maintenance, stable, and faithful. The only thing she asks is that I ride her hard when I get the chance 😂

I think a midsize standard motorcycle is about the perfect bike most of the time. Commute on it and take trackdays, cheap to buy, cheap to maintain, cheap to insure, luggage freely available, reliable, flies under the cops' radar, easier to ride in urban traffic than a supersport or cruiser. Now I wouldn't go with an MT07 since it doesn't have the all-weather capability of bikes with traction control, but after my most recent bike I'd put traction control as a must. TC/ABS is one of those things you didn't think you needed until you got a bike with it.
I've never used traction control on any of the bikes that I owned that had them and I ride in snow in the winter. I always turned the electronics off, main reason I got a MT-07 is because it is 100% motorcycle. However, I will say that I think the new 2023+ Ducati Streetfighter V4's electronics are cool because it allows you to customize the power for each gear. If I do get a super bike again it would be the new Streetfighter.
@@CycleCruza OSHA considers personal protective devices such as helmets, gloves, airbag vests, and so on to be the least effective form of safety controls, while ABS/TC, which are engineering controls (ie requiring the rider to do nothing in order to benefit from the safety control) are the second most effective safety control. For example, riding without TC/ABS in the snow requires great skill all the time, whereas riding with TC/ABS requires no skill all the time, in order to achieve the same safety benefit. Also, my insurance rates are 40% cheaper with my bike with ABS over the same model without ABS. Insurance rates is a great way of assessing risk.
@@djwhiz03 Convincing riders that they would be much safer if they used electronic safety aids is a lost cause. It's an ego thing, and it's ugly when ego meets reality. Some riders don't have electronics due to finances but the ones that turn the electronics off are complete idiots.
CycleCruza, I think you're right on the money! Even though I'm a newer rider I watch different motorcycle podcasts in England and whatnot and they seem more open-minded there. I bought a 2023 Royal Enfield classic 350, yes only 350 cc's but I love it man.... I'm still learning but this is a great bike for me.
royal enfield makes great bikes. They just started assembling those bikes in my country so the price dropped down significantly. I was looking to buy the Hunter 350 but they dont sell them with ABS here so it was a deal breaker for me. Looking into getting something else now or may get it if they start providing ABS here within the next 6 months.
I'm 52 and just started last year. I bought a Royal Enfield 350 and been perfectly happy. It's not manly but I don't have anything to prove and I don't want speeding tickets or low sides or high sides. I just want to ride the speed limit and enjoy the view. I put 3000 miles on it in the first year. Buying huge heavy bikes that you will only use a quarter of the throttle on ever and only put 200 miles per year on because its too much trouble, is not manly.
Same as you except I do about 8000 miles a year on my Royal Enfield 350 classic and about the same on my Honda Super Cub C125. Next year I’m off on a 1500 mile tour around France on my Super Cub. I live in the UK. Small bikes are just fine, I’ve done with litre plus bikes.
I love small bikes too. I have a 2023 CB650R and have been kicking around the idea of getting an R3 for a second bike to play around on. I don’t get the whole bigger is better attitude.

I live in new england and currently ride a Trident 660 and agree with all your points 100%. The best roads around here are the 50mph twisties through mountains and countryside in western MA and up into NH and VT. A good rider on a 650 will keep up with anyone on those kinds of roads. Banging through the top of 2nd through 5th gear up to redline is a lot more fun than using maybe 1-3 on a supersport or just shortshifting for the hell of it. Way more fun to "wring it out" on a medium fast bike rather than feeling like a caged cheetah imo. There are times I would rather have say...120 hp to pass more easily on some of those mountain roads though, no doubt.
The young me wanted a fast liter bike. The old me wants a good mpg multipurpose practical adventure bike. Couple years ago a guy in Vegas was debating/asking if he should get a Triumph Daytona 675 or 450 supetmoto. I told him he'd have more fun with the supermoto. Since he can get a set of both dirt bike wheels/tires for desert dirt riding & supetmoto wheels for street. He bought the 675.
This has to be the most “common sense” down to earth motorcycle video that I’ve had the pleasure of watching, and I believe that I have seen them all!!! There’s not one single word that came out of your mouth that I could honestly disagree with! If more riders had that mindset, lots of lives could be saved and the roads would be a lot safer! Give me my ’22 Honda Rebel CMX 1100 DCT (509 lbs) and I am extremely happy, proud and safe! And believe me, this bike packs a hell of a punch, but I only use it when necessary! That’s why they make tracks for people who want to open their bikes up, but it’s in the proper environment, not racing down Main Street where there’s pedestrians and traffic!!! Nothing wrong with whatever bike you're blessed to have. I mission around town on a 150cc, super agile, filling the tank is cheap, potholes dictate thati keep my speed down anyway . Many more roads become twisties on a 150
I’m a broke 23 year old who loves riding, I have a ninja250. It will do 0-90 fast enough and I’m happy with that (until I have enough for a Daytona 675)
I have an FJ-09, but I would love an MT-07 I'm sure. My 650's are a blast off road, though a light dirt bike would be amazing if I owned a truck to transport it. Bicycles are more fun though, cheap as hell and keep you in shape.
My manliness and ego went out the door in 2016 when I bought a Prius. I LOVE that car, it’s cheap and dependable. I was looking to get an MT07 back in July, ended settling on the new Suzuki GSX-8S, great bike. I’ve never had a naked before, but this bike fits, has great ergos for me, and is plenty fast for my needs. I say ride what you like!
I sold my grom for my street triple, and ever since I've been thinking of picking up another grom or a Zuma 125, because having a secondary bike that gets 100 mpg is underrated.
I gotta a z125 as a third bike, its awesome for a just killing time bike. Can rip around town and neighborhoods with out pissing anybody off. Good for practice to 👍

You are so on point with this video! I totally agree. I stepped down from a liter bike to an R3 and man is it so much more fun! It can still go fast enough to get your license suspended! I can totally keep up with the guys on the bigger bikes unless they are just straight out ripping it. Not looking to go to jail or die doing that, so I just let them go and I always catch up. I enjoy giving those guys buckets of trash talk! They can disrespect the small bikes all they want. I know what's true!😉
The 09 is way more fun. Ive had both. Loved the low end grunt of the 07, but you cant beat the absolute tearing ass power all over the power band on the 09
Im 58 and mt10 is the perfect do it all bike 😊 owned mt09 for a season. But the mt10 soundtrack is so addictive. And the oomph is just right for that mad acceleration somtimes. That Said i understand that a middle bike can be fun also .
A guy came past me on the freeway today on a CBR250RR. When I caught up with him at the lights he was grinning from ear to ear. Small bikes where you can use all the rev range can be so much more fun than big bore bikes.
Last year I bought an electric dual sport. I knew nothing and cared nothing about motorcycles at the time. I have since fallen in love with my bike. I think about how little I have in common with the Harley guys. I see them out wearing bluejean shorts and a bandana. I ride a small, electric bike and always wear full gear. But...we both love to ride things with 2 wheels, so I guess there is hope. I really wish they could give my bike a try though. Seems impossible not to fall in love. I also have an escooter that will do mph. That thing is what got me into riding and made me purchase the Zero FX. Next I want a hydrofoil. So much fun to be had.
Word. You should ride what you really want for the right reasons. I’ve always been a sport bike guy with 600s. However, a few years back I picked up a little Yamaha VStar because it was really cheap. Turned out to be one of my funnest bikes ever. Now I want to get an Eluder, that would be the best of both worlds for me. If you get what you really want, you don’t care what people think, you’re too busy enjoying the ride.
For me, I want a busa to experience what the bike is about but for my second bike down the road, I want either a ninja 400/650, or the new Aprilia rs457. Small bikes are more fun on the street.
I’m having a blast with my little ninja 400. Does the speed limit and that’s all I need. It’s cheap on gas and everything else. And that keeps me out of the trouble and out of the hospital

The problem for me is I've imprisoned myself with renovating my house and it never seems to end. 🤣 I had originally planned to do a long adventure but I just want to get this house done and over with and then I can be free. Back in 2020 I bought a new 2019 Kawasaki z650 for $5999. It was old new stock, the dealer wanted to get rid of it to make space for new models so it was 2k off the sticker price. I got what I wanted something new, affordable, comfortable, cheap to maintain, cheap to operate and fun as hell.
I did the bigger, faster, more expensive thing in my 45 years of motorcycling. It took a while, but I finally figured out exactly what you are saying here. There is no correlation between the cost/performance/size of a bike and how much I am enjoying it. In fact, some of my best bike times have been on smaller bikes. I had a FZ-1 and a Harley Heritage twin cam 103. I hated pushing the Heritage around in my garage and I got tired of buying tires for the FZ-1. I also got a speeding ticket on the FZ. I no longer have those bikes. I now have a CB500x and a Harley Iron 883. I am having more fun with them than I did with the the bigger faster bikes. Insurance is cheaper and so in maintenance. Of course at 60 years old, I have long since stopped giving a shit about other peoples opinion of my bike choices. When they have been riding almost a half a century, 29 bikes and hundreds of thousands of miles like I have, their opinion might mean something. Ride what you like and have fun with it. You should do a motorcycle road trip and film it. I’ve met some of the nicest riders traveling on the road. I’ve noticed people who only show ride are very different from those that you meet on the road. It would be great content, I’ve owned sport bikes, dirt bikes, supermotos and Harleys. My favorite memories are from touring on my Harley. Ride safe my friend
I just bought a Harley Davidson Sportster 48 and I love it. At 64 years old and 44 years of road riding on all kinds of bikes, big and small. The size of your bike does not indicate the size of your manhood. It's a preference at each stage of your life and for varied reasons. Like art, motorcycles are a subjective endeavor and thankfully we have an abundance of choices. Enjoy the ride brothers and sisters.....
I have a Honda Fury and an RC390. I only got the RC because once in a while it's really nice to throw around a little single banger and dive into the corners. The Fury is a big girl at almost 700lbs. It's a flavorful, eye catcher that is as loud as it is long. Swinging a leg over the RC is a different mindset. It's quieter, much more agile and it's small. The smallest bike I've ever had. It's really liberating to hop on a small machine. They move with you so much easier. Almost feels like the RC reads my mind before I even make a move. Everyone should find a bike that is the opposite of their norm and give it a go. Shed the ego and connotations and do it.
I have fallen prey myself…not only that it has to be well over 1000cc but it must also be the very Top of the Line. It didn’t take long to learn what a mistake that was. The bike is great for highway cruising but I never grew up! I want to hooligan it, I live about 5 minutes from the mountains, lakes, canyons, and reservoirs. I have, over 1000’s of miles, learned how to hooligan the big bike but I know I’m missing the best of what could be had. I was in Montreal last year and did a tour of the city on an electric Vespa type machine, tour guide, the whole thing. It was some of the most fun I’ve had on two wheels since I was a kid. Imo, the 900cc naked category is the best for daily riding. Not too much power that you'll get a felony trying to have fun with it, but enough power to still blow your socks off from a stop. They also make most of their power down low, it's not all in the too end like sport bikes.
I daily a 150cc scooter and it’s great. 80 mpg, easily go 55-60, can park it anywhere. I see a lot of 1000cc on the road and in everyday commuting we all go the same speed
Gonna be honest I have a hard time using all the power on my 2020 z900 and that's "only 125hp " kinda annoying not being able to go more than half throttle without instantly doubling the speed limit. Nice bike! You'd be doing the same speed on a super bike. I had cobwebs on the top end of my former superbikes. lol The only reason I'm entertaining the idea of getting a Ducati Streetfighter V4 is because you can put the power where you want it in the bottom and mid range or top en if you ever want to with the new electronics on the 2023+.
When I first started riding I had an older SV650. Great bike, but the sirens song of an inline 4 sport bike was too loud for me to ignore. I sold the SV and got a ZX6R. I rode that bike for 3 years trying to convince myself that that was what I wanted but it just wasn't. It spent 90% of my ownership with it in 6th gear cruising at 50-60 mph on back county roads. Eventually I wised up and got a Honda Magna cruiser and that fit my riding style so much better. It's slower, heavier, handles worse, less valuable, and to some people less cool but I enjoy riding it so much more than my old ZX. Also I bought a Grom on a whim a while back and have more fun on that than I ever did on my ZX. Slo,w small bikes are the way.

(Ultra low emission zones) here in the uk its a massive topic at the moment, where if your emissions output doesn't meet certain requirements they charge you 12 pounds a day (nearly $15) to ride or drive the vehicle in ulez areas... as an American whats your thoughts on this? As a beginner with 5"8 height (average), I have a small naked bike to ride. Good thing here in Asia, we're crowded and motorcycles are everywhere. I'll get a sport bike and if faith is good for me, I'll get a super bike. In the city, I can't really ride a Superbike since we always have heavy traffic, the best motorcycles to ride are scooters. You're right about Americans, most males only ride higher CC sport bikes and touring Harley Davidson bike, the good thing here in Asia, riding a scooter won't make you less of a man hahaha
I think it's why that some of those harley davidson riders say those things about riding sport bikes is because the style of harley davidson is more of rock a music style and that the sportbikes style is to hiphop like when you see alot of rap videos back then all it was is sport bikes like with dmx and the ruff ryders group riding sportbikes
If im being honest, my 05 sv1000s is a stupid amount of power. But its still a V twin so the power is all down low. If you can, when you try out the ducati v4, try out the V twin too. I have a feeling itll be more what your looking for in a bike, with insane bottom end torque. I personally didnt get the big bike for its power. I just got a really good deal on something thatll last forever on fun and reliability.

Kymco may still have 300/400 cc xciting, i saw Cf Moto making a 560 cc one totally ripped off Tmax name. Not sure if coming to us or when or anything else
That’s true I bought an 2023 R3 for my first bike and I hear it all the time “why a 320cc” I’m like you know top speed is 115mph. Yes in a car isn’t that fast but on a bike it is.
I'm 68, in the UK, and I don't give a f*** what other people think of my bikes, they're for me. I ride a 1978 Triumph Bonneville 750 and a 1980 Suzuki GS550L. They do everything I want from a bike, they are dead cheap to run and will never lose any value. I ride all year round, even more now than when I was working.
If you don't need big bike or maxi scooter then you don't need it and the small bike's and Scooter's is really fun to toss around and it really shows in the twisties it's like you don't drive dumptruck daily to go to work in the downtown area and the same thing with scooter you don't daily drive scooter to work in hiway
For around town, love my little ninja 400. Owned a Vmax several Hondas, and an Indian FTR 1200 S. I’m having fun with a little ninja just doing the speed limit and chilling. That’s the best protection you can use as what is between your ears. Oh yeah, forgot to mention it gets 60 miles to the gallon
Triumph Trident 🔱 660 owner here. It’s a great all rounder. Sometimes I wish it had more power but 90% of the time it works for what I need. Wish it had cruise control.
I ride everything from a big twin to a Honda 110cc My favorite is a xl350r from 1984. And I have my name on a list for a Triumph 400 Scrambler. Then it will be a BSA after that.
I started out on a honda monkey and rode it for a year and a half and was proud of it! Now I have an Indian Scout Rouge. This dude i worked with had 4 Harley's and was relentless with making fun of my honda monkey. I got the scout and same thing "thats a small bike" Bark bark! I don't care what people think of my bikes cause I love them and that's what really counts!

I here you CC brother I appreciate what you do, I too had many bikes small and big had to bad accidents when I was younger. I'm now 50 in good shape and brought a 2015 yamaha r3 off a older gentleman with only 350 miles and I absolutely love it get compliments everywhere I go ride safe brother.
..just turned 62 this summer and got back on my Ninja 650 for the 1st time in 2 yrs, after suffering a serious medical condition, that has since gotten better. This coming from a guy that grew up on a '85 Suzuki GS 700 ES, a 600 Katana, GSX R600, and GSX R750. The Ninja 650 fits me perfectly...smooth ride and will beat 95% of any car out there if needed . Not a race bike but very nice for cruising around town or country roads !
I just got a 2023 Ninja 650 and it is incredible. All the power you can reasonably want, super nimble in the city, and darned stable and steady on the freeways at 70+ mph. This bike does it all and does not need to be any bigger, heavier, or more powerful.

I feel you cycle cruza. I'm on vacation in Norway and it's so cool to see so many different motorcycle types and sizes on the roads! The maximum speed around here is about 80km/h on the country roads but it is sketchy on the blind corners around the mountains . You totally hit the nail with our issue we have in America about fragile egos and the constant need to validate ourselves through others' perceptions. We should be concerned about having fun and being safe instead of fitting in gender stereotypes. I just wanted to say there is nothing wrong about being a motorcycle rider that happens to be a woman 😅 (if any guy is concerned about that lol). It is far more respectable to have a reputation of being a skilled and safe rider than just owning a particular machine! Rubber side down everyone!

I have a Suzuki GSX-8S, got it a little over a month ago, so far I love it. As a small child (6-9 yrs old) I rode on the back of my 2 cousins 4 wheelers and loved it. At the age of 13 my parents got me my own, a 2000 Polaris Magnum 325 4x4 and I rode the dog sh!t outta that thing. I still have it but I need a lot of tlc. 2006-2007 I rode a buddies Kawasaki 125 dirtbike and loved that even more (he had a Suzuki LTZ 250 that i also ride a couple of times). In 2007 he got a Suzuki LTZ 400 sport quad that he let me ride 2 times, love at first ride. In 2008 I got my own LTZ 400, the all Black SE. Still have it and ride of from time to time. Just enough to keep the carb from gunning up and the fuel from going bad. I love all kinds of moto whether it be dirt or street.
I'm 60 and after a 30 year hiatus of non riding I bought a 2022 Yamaha YZFf-R3 60th Anniversary World GP edition and it 's definitely a blast from my previous +600cc bikes. BTW I feel much better concerning physical safety using the Helite Turtle 2 electronic bag and 👍on the video.

I am 54. After my 30 years of riding I currently have a Suzuki Burgman 400 and a Royal Enfield 350 Classic. Both do exactly what I need them to do.
58 and just stepped down from an Aprilia RSVR that hurt my neck and wrists to an MT 09... absolutely love it.
I'm 50 and planninging to get back into street riding after an almost 20 year hiatus. My current list of potential bikes includes the Ninja 400, the Royal Enfield Hunter 350, and the Triumph Speed 400. I neither need the ability to travel ridiculous speeds nor impress anyone with whatever I ride. My eye was initially on the Z125 Pro, but I shifted away from it as I will need to occasionally travel on highways.
I have to say that I'm bummed by the lack of analog dials on the latest offerings. Yes, I'm an oldschool dinosaur.
I agree displacement is just a number. There are fast and slow bikes of all displacements and that doesn't make them any less fun. Have owned many bikes including four completely different ones i have now.
The only thing i will say is a 689cc, 75hp bike is not really a small bike. It is pretty well past mid range for what the world has to offer. It needs to be ridden with a lot more respect than something like a 250 rebel.
I find as a general rule if I have a 250cc I ride it like a 125cc. If I have a 500cc I ride it like a 250cc that way it's never disappointing. An mt-07 is very fast if you ride it flat out. 0-60mph is under 4 seconds. 1/4mile is as fast as a bmw i8 or a M4

I've had 3 bikes so far. 98 suzuki dr350se (duel sport), 09 suzuki gs500f (sporty looking) and now have a 04 BMW R1150rt (sport touring). Had the most fun on the little 350 and most comfort on the 1150. Can take turns the fastest and best lean angle on the 500f All of them are fun in their own ways.

I ride an MT-07 most days, and a Bandit 1250s for highway runs and traveling. Both bikes have been absolute gems, and perfect at their jobs. I can’t see replacing them; they’ll be in my garage until I’m done riding. I’ve also got an old sumo/dual sport project waiting for me to work on. The thing I need next is a garage queen for special occasions…

@@matthewcochran3325 ODB (ol’ dirty bandit) is a bit heavy for the twisties, and hard to keep near the speed limit around town, but she completely devours miles on the highway. I think of her as a loyal wife: she’s not quite the looker she was 15 years ago, and she’s heavier than some people’s bikes, but she’s always there for me, keeps me comfy, never complains, always makes me smile and never let me down. She’s low maintenance, stable, and faithful. The only thing she asks is that I ride her hard when I get the chance 😂

I think a midsize standard motorcycle is about the perfect bike most of the time. Commute on it and take trackdays, cheap to buy, cheap to maintain, cheap to insure, luggage freely available, reliable, flies under the cops' radar, easier to ride in urban traffic than a supersport or cruiser. Now I wouldn't go with an MT07 since it doesn't have the all-weather capability of bikes with traction control, but after my most recent bike I'd put traction control as a must. TC/ABS is one of those things you didn't think you needed until you got a bike with it.
I've never used traction control on any of the bikes that I owned that had them and I ride in snow in the winter. I always turned the electronics off, main reason I got a MT-07 is because it is 100% motorcycle. However, I will say that I think the new 2023+ Ducati Streetfighter V4's electronics are cool because it allows you to customize the power for each gear. If I do get a super bike again it would be the new Streetfighter.
@@CycleCruza OSHA considers personal protective devices such as helmets, gloves, airbag vests, and so on to be the least effective form of safety controls, while ABS/TC, which are engineering controls (ie requiring the rider to do nothing in order to benefit from the safety control) are the second most effective safety control.
For example, riding without TC/ABS in the snow requires great skill all the time, whereas riding with TC/ABS requires no skill all the time, in order to achieve the same safety benefit.
Also, my insurance rates are 40% cheaper with my bike with ABS over the same model without ABS. Insurance rates is a great way of assessing risk.
I wish I had got ABS bike before I broke my foot sliding the back tire breaking on gravel 😭
@@djwhiz03 Convincing riders that they would be much safer if they used electronic safety aids is a lost cause. It's an ego thing, and it's ugly when ego meets reality. Some riders don't have electronics due to finances but the ones that turn the electronics off are complete idiots.

CycleCruza, I think you're right on the money! Even though I'm a newer rider I watch different motorcycle podcasts in England and whatnot and they seem more open-minded there. I bought a 2023 Royal Enfield classic 350, yes only 350 cc's but I love it man.... I'm still learning but this is a great bike for me.
royal enfield makes great bikes. They just started assembling those bikes in my country so the price dropped down significantly. I was looking to buy the Hunter 350 but they dont sell them with ABS here so it was a deal breaker for me. Looking into getting something else now or may get it if they start providing ABS here within the next 6 months.
I'm 52 and just started last year. I bought a Royal Enfield 350 and been perfectly happy. It's not manly but I don't have anything to prove and I don't want speeding tickets or low sides or high sides. I just want to ride the speed limit and enjoy the view. I put 3000 miles on it in the first year. Buying huge heavy bikes that you will only use a quarter of the throttle on ever and only put 200 miles per year on because its too much trouble, is not manly.
Same as you except I do about 8000 miles a year on my Royal Enfield 350 classic and about the same on my Honda Super Cub C125. Next year I’m off on a 1500 mile tour around France on my Super Cub. I live in the UK. Small bikes are just fine, I’ve done with litre plus bikes.
I love small bikes too. I have a 2023 CB650R and have been kicking around the idea of getting an R3 for a second bike to play around on. I don’t get the whole bigger is better attitude.
In 2000, I bought my third bike which was a Suzuki Katana 600. I happily rode that thing for 8 years.

I live in new england and currently ride a Trident 660 and agree with all your points 100%. The best roads around here are the 50mph twisties through mountains and countryside in western MA and up into NH and VT. A good rider on a 650 will keep up with anyone on those kinds of roads. Banging through the top of 2nd through 5th gear up to redline is a lot more fun than using maybe 1-3 on a supersport or just shortshifting for the hell of it. Way more fun to "wring it out" on a medium fast bike rather than feeling like a caged cheetah imo.
There are times I would rather have say...120 hp to pass more easily on some of those mountain roads though, no doubt.

Couple years ago a guy in Vegas was debating/asking if he should get a Triumph Daytona 675 or 450 supetmoto. I told him he'd have more fun with the supermoto. Since he can get a set of both dirt bike wheels/tires for desert dirt riding & supetmoto wheels for street. He bought the 675.
This has to be the most “common sense” down to earth motorcycle video that I’ve had the pleasure of watching, and I believe that I have seen them all!!! There’s not one single word that came out of your mouth that I could honestly disagree with! If more riders had that mindset, lots of lives could be saved and the roads would be a lot safer! Give me my ’22 Honda Rebel CMX 1100 DCT (509 lbs) and I am extremely happy, proud and safe! And believe me, this bike packs a hell of a punch, but I only use it when necessary! That’s why they make tracks for people who want to open their bikes up, but it’s in the proper environment, not racing down Main Street where there’s pedestrians and traffic!!! Nothing wrong with whatever bike you're blessed to have. I mission around town on a 150cc, super agile, filling the tank is cheap, potholes dictate thati keep my speed down anyway . Many more roads become twisties on a 150

I have an FJ-09, but I would love an MT-07 I'm sure. My 650's are a blast off road, though a light dirt bike would be amazing if I owned a truck to transport it. Bicycles are more fun though, cheap as hell and keep you in shape.
My manliness and ego went out the door in 2016 when I bought a Prius. I LOVE that car, it’s cheap and dependable. I was looking to get an MT07 back in July, ended settling on the new Suzuki GSX-8S, great bike. I’ve never had a naked before, but this bike fits, has great ergos for me, and is plenty fast for my needs. I say ride what you like!

I sold my grom for my street triple, and ever since I've been thinking of picking up another grom or a Zuma 125, because having a secondary bike that gets 100 mpg is underrated.
I gotta a z125 as a third bike, its awesome for a just killing time bike. Can rip around town and neighborhoods with out pissing anybody off. Good for practice to 👍

You are so on point with this video! I totally agree. I stepped down from a liter bike to an R3 and man is it so much more fun! It can still go fast enough to get your license suspended! I can totally keep up with the guys on the bigger bikes unless they are just straight out ripping it. Not looking to go to jail or die doing that, so I just let them go and I always catch up. I enjoy giving those guys buckets of trash talk! They can disrespect the small bikes all they want. I know what's true!😉
The 09 is way more fun. Ive had both. Loved the low end grunt of the 07, but you cant beat the absolute tearing ass power all over the power band on the 09

Im 58 and mt10 is the perfect do it all bike 😊 owned mt09 for a season. But the mt10 soundtrack is so addictive. And the oomph is just right for that mad acceleration somtimes.
That Said i understand that a middle bike can be fun also .
A guy came past me on the freeway today on a CBR250RR. When I caught up with him at the lights he was grinning from ear to ear. Small bikes where you can use all the rev range can be so much more fun than big bore bikes.
I’m able to redline 1st 4 gears on stock VX300, shift up to 5th at 75 mph - and it’s fun!
Last year I bought an electric dual sport. I knew nothing and cared nothing about motorcycles at the time. I have since fallen in love with my bike. I think about how little I have in common with the Harley guys. I see them out wearing bluejean shorts and a bandana. I ride a small, electric bike and always wear full gear. But...we both love to ride things with 2 wheels, so I guess there is hope. I really wish they could give my bike a try though. Seems impossible not to fall in love. I also have an escooter that will do mph. That thing is what got me into riding and made me purchase the Zero FX. Next I want a hydrofoil. So much fun to be had.
Word. You should ride what you really want for the right reasons. I’ve always been a sport bike guy with 600s. However, a few years back I picked up a little Yamaha VStar because it was really cheap. Turned out to be one of my funnest bikes ever. Now I want to get an Eluder, that would be the best of both worlds for me. If you get what you really want, you don’t care what people think, you’re too busy enjoying the ride.
For me, I want a busa to experience what the bike is about but for my second bike down the road, I want either a ninja 400/650, or the new Aprilia rs457. Small bikes are more fun on the street.
I’m having a blast with my little ninja 400. Does the speed limit and that’s all I need. It’s cheap on gas and everything else. And that keeps me out of the trouble and out of the hospital
As you've said in many other videos, they're *all* good, and the ultimate experience is to own or at least ride a variety. What *is* an ugly truth is that both you and I are so focused on tasks around the home, we aren't going out on any real adventures. I'm gonna fix that real soon, before we run out of decent weather. A decent CC is 200cc+ for any use (Except cross, "125" going crazy)
The problem for me is I've imprisoned myself with renovating my house and it never seems to end. 🤣 I had originally planned to do a long adventure but I just want to get this house done and over with and then I can be free. I would love to ride across the country and back, Trans American Trail would be fun.

Back in 2020 I bought a new 2019 Kawasaki z650 for $5999. It was old new stock, the dealer wanted to get rid of it to make space for new models so it was 2k off the sticker price. I got what I wanted something new, affordable, comfortable, cheap to maintain, cheap to operate and fun as hell.
I did the bigger, faster, more expensive thing in my 45 years of motorcycling.
It took a while, but I finally figured out exactly what you are saying here.
There is no correlation between the cost/performance/size of a bike and how much I am enjoying it.
In fact, some of my best bike times have been on smaller bikes.
I had a FZ-1 and a Harley Heritage twin cam 103.
I hated pushing the Heritage around in my garage and I got tired of buying tires for the FZ-1.
I also got a speeding ticket on the FZ.
I no longer have those bikes.
I now have a CB500x and a Harley Iron 883.
I am having more fun with them than I did with the the bigger faster bikes.
Insurance is cheaper and so in maintenance.
Of course at 60 years old, I have long since stopped giving a shit about other peoples opinion of my bike choices.
When they have been riding almost a half a century, 29 bikes and hundreds of thousands of miles like I have, their opinion might mean something.
Ride what you like and have fun with it.

You should do a motorcycle road trip and film it. I’ve met some of the nicest riders traveling on the road. I’ve noticed people who only show ride are very different from those that you meet on the road. It would be great content,

I just bought a Harley Davidson Sportster 48 and I love it. At 64 years old and 44 years of road riding on all kinds of bikes, big and small. The size of your bike does not indicate the size of your manhood. It's a preference at each stage of your life and for varied reasons.
Like art, motorcycles are a subjective endeavor and thankfully we have an abundance of choices. Enjoy the ride brothers and sisters.....
I have a Honda Fury and an RC390. I only got the RC because once in a while it's really nice to throw around a little single banger and dive into the corners. The Fury is a big girl at almost 700lbs. It's a flavorful, eye catcher that is as loud as it is long. Swinging a leg over the RC is a different mindset. It's quieter, much more agile and it's small. The smallest bike I've ever had. It's really liberating to hop on a small machine. They move with you so much easier. Almost feels like the RC reads my mind before I even make a move. Everyone should find a bike that is the opposite of their norm and give it a go. Shed the ego and connotations and do it.

I have fallen prey myself…not only that it has to be well over 1000cc but it must also be the very Top of the Line. It didn’t take long to learn what a mistake that was. The bike is great for highway cruising but I never grew up! I want to hooligan it, I live about 5 minutes from the mountains, lakes, canyons, and reservoirs. I have, over 1000’s of miles, learned how to hooligan the big bike but I know I’m missing the best of what could be had.
I was in Montreal last year and did a tour of the city on an electric Vespa type machine, tour guide, the whole thing. It was some of the most fun I’ve had on two wheels since I was a kid.

I went from an 1800cc valkyrie to a crf300l and a klr650, I have never looked back, I also have a rebel 300 as well, it's going to be a scrambler.

Imo, the 900cc naked category is the best for daily riding. Not too much power that you'll get a felony trying to have fun with it, but enough power to still blow your socks off from a stop. They also make most of their power down low, it's not all in the too end like sport bikes.
I daily a 150cc scooter and it’s great. 80 mpg, easily go 55-60, can park it anywhere. I see a lot of 1000cc on the road and in everyday commuting we all go the same speed
Gonna be honest I have a hard time using all the power on my 2020 z900 and that's "only 125hp " kinda annoying not being able to go more than half throttle without instantly doubling the speed limit. I also have a dyna street bob with the 110 tire shredder kit so it's fast for a Harley, love having the best of both worlds 🤘
That is exactly why I traded mine in for a T7, and I am about to trade the T7 for a ZX4RR.

Nice bike! You'd be doing the same speed on a super bike. I had cobwebs on the top end of my former superbikes. lol The only reason I'm entertaining the idea of getting a Ducati Streetfighter V4 is because you can put the power where you want it in the bottom and mid range or top en if you ever want to with the new electronics on the 2023+.
When I first started riding I had an older SV650. Great bike, but the sirens song of an inline 4 sport bike was too loud for me to ignore. I sold the SV and got a ZX6R. I rode that bike for 3 years trying to convince myself that that was what I wanted but it just wasn't. It spent 90% of my ownership with it in 6th gear cruising at 50-60 mph on back county roads. Eventually I wised up and got a Honda Magna cruiser and that fit my riding style so much better. It's slower, heavier, handles worse, less valuable, and to some people less cool but I enjoy riding it so much more than my old ZX. Also I bought a Grom on a whim a while back and have more fun on that than I ever did on my ZX. Slo,w small bikes are the way.

(Ultra low emission zones) here in the uk its a massive topic at the moment, where if your emissions output doesn't meet certain requirements they charge you 12 pounds a day (nearly $15) to ride or drive the vehicle in ulez areas... as an American whats your thoughts on this? I agree, medium size naked bikes are excellent for carving canyons.
As a beginner with 5"8 height (average), I have a small naked bike to ride. Good thing here in Asia, we're crowded and motorcycles are everywhere. I'll get a sport bike and if faith is good for me, I'll get a super bike. In the city, I can't really ride a Superbike since we always have heavy traffic, the best motorcycles to ride are scooters. You're right about Americans, most males only ride higher CC sport bikes and touring Harley Davidson bike, the good thing here in Asia, riding a scooter won't make you less of a man hahaha
Scooter rider here, don't care what others think. 400cc scooter that will do just about anything. I do have an eye on a RE Hunter 350.

I think it's why that some of those harley davidson riders say those things about riding sport bikes is because the style of harley davidson is more of rock a music style and that the sportbikes style is to hiphop like when you see alot of rap videos back then all it was is sport bikes like with dmx and the ruff ryders group riding sportbikes
If im being honest, my 05 sv1000s is a stupid amount of power. But its still a V twin so the power is all down low. If you can, when you try out the ducati v4, try out the V twin too. I have a feeling itll be more what your looking for in a bike, with insane bottom end torque.
I personally didnt get the big bike for its power. I just got a really good deal on something thatll last forever on fun and reliability.

That’s true I bought an 2023 R3 for my first bike and I hear it all the time “why a 320cc” I’m like you know top speed is 115mph. Yes in a car isn’t that fast but on a bike it is.

I'm 68, in the UK, and I don't give a f*** what other people think of my bikes, they're for me. I ride a 1978 Triumph Bonneville 750 and a 1980 Suzuki GS550L. They do everything I want from a bike, they are dead cheap to run and will never lose any value. I ride all year round, even more now than when I was working.

If you don't need big bike or maxi scooter then you don't need it and the small bike's and Scooter's is really fun to toss around and it really shows in the twisties it's like you don't drive dumptruck daily to go to work in the downtown area and the same thing with scooter you don't daily drive scooter to work in hiway
For around town, love my little ninja 400. Owned a Vmax several Hondas, and an Indian FTR 1200 S. I’m having fun with a little ninja just doing the speed limit and chilling. That’s the best protection you can use as what is between your ears. Oh yeah, forgot to mention it gets 60 miles to the gallon
Triumph Trident 🔱 660 owner here. It’s a great all rounder. Sometimes I wish it had more power but 90% of the time it works for what I need. Wish it had cruise control.

I went to a dealership to sit on a mt-07, and I'm too short for it. Sucks.
I started out on a honda monkey and rode it for a year and a half and was proud of it! Now I have an Indian Scout Rouge. This dude i worked with had 4 Harley's and was relentless with making fun of my honda monkey. I got the scout and same thing "thats a small bike" Bark bark! I don't care what people think of my bikes cause I love them and that's what really counts!
