I've been on a note 4 for 3 years now and have always told myself my next handset would be a note 8 or 9, but I'm into photography and the P30 Pro with the 125mm equivalent FOV from an optical lens is just so valuable. Editing RAW files from that should generate some outstanding images

I was a real Apple Fan Boy (at the age of 68 I'm pretty sure that is not the correct term). My wife and I traded in our iPhone X's for, in her case a P20 Pro and the lesser except in size Mate 20X for me. We have never been so happy with our phones. I watched this P30 Pro video, I immediately sold my Mate 20x to my son-in-law and I am off to buy a P30 Pro. I have to say, previously, virtually all the tech I owned was Apple, Imac Pro, Imac, MacBook Pro, 3 Ipads, 4 apple TVs etc. etc.. Overcoming the Apple infrastructure constraints with photos etc is difficult, especially if you are old. If Apple had an extremely dedicated customer that over time become motivated to bite the bullet to find work arounds designed to ensure their photos, music etc remains intact on another platform they are in deep deep trouble! It just seems to me that Apple has lost the will to live, their focus has seriously changed to content, maybe that it is because their hardware just is not able to stand the heat.
If you do a video tutorial on how you get out of the Apple eco-system as a senior user, it would be very informative for all of us as well. Thanks for your comment. I think I'm also converting to P30 pro now.
@Jacksnake D. when you're comparing two such a great phones it needs to come to details and let say gimmicks. Video stabilisation is better especially in night videos, slow motion way better, higher resolution and fps...
@Jacksnake D. Agree but same you can say for practically every feature. Have Mi A2 and S10+, and to be honest Mi A2, the phone that costs less than 200€ is holding really well in comparation when you're looking core features. But the point is that these small thing are making difference.

P30 Pro: Better quality shots of objects and places regardless of night or day and can get a lot of detail when zooming. S10+: Better selfies, better frame rate and better video stabilization.
The P30 Pro gives more reason to leave a compact camera at home with that awesome 5x optical / 10x hybrid. Probably the first time I would be willing to leave a standalone camera at home when on holiday

The samsung s10 is holding its own on the daylight pictures but the p30 just something else! bloody hell! I think destance seriously need some kind of night mode To have a fighting chance!
I disagree that S10 is better for portraits. A lot of the portrait pictures of S10 were with washed out colors, like the one with your washed out pants that you mentioned at 3:33. In fact, the one P30 did there looks like it is made with a professional DSLR. The only thing where S10 beats Huawei is the slow motion, which is the least used feature of a phone camera.
After a week with the P30 Pro I am officially in love with this phone. It still surprises me just how clear and stable the zoom shots are, as well as how effortlessly nighttime photos look bright and clear. The screen is also extremely edge to edge, there's almost no frame left, and the black levels when watching content is superb due to the OLED. Battery life is a full day of heavy usage. I took over 600 photos and some videos on my first day and had over 30% left.

Both phones are great but if you want better microphone, better video quality, better ultrawide and better dynamic range go for the s10 but if you much prefer portrait, zoom, more natural photos, great stabilization, or more details, then go for the p30 pro, you just have to pick whats best for you. No phone is gonna be perfect you just need what best suits your needs

Both are great phones to get, really difficult to choose. But ultimately the zoom, quality and night shots on the p30 pro are superb, I would go for that.
And if you start comparing battery life, overall speed after a few months use and also battery life after a few months, the Huawei is in no doubt the winner
@@mrteyssere except the S10+ and the P30 Pro have around the same battery life, comparable in speed and we don't know the battery life after a few months yet. The P30 takes better photos, S10 takes better videos but the S10 has a better screen and a 3.5mm jack.

Phone charges 0-70% in 30min..it also only a 1080p screen which uses less battery and they have better management of the battery plus 4200mah compared to 4100mah... So yes, the battery will last quite a bit longer... It also has reverse charging btw which is a nice option... I have the p30pro and the battery is amazing!!!

5:28 The Samsung is in super steady mode in 1080p but there is a noticeable jolt with each step while the P30 pro is smooth. 5:39 It switches around in 4k30 video. The Samsung loses the super steady mode, yet the footage is silky smooth while the P30 pro is supposed to be image stabilisation mode but the footage is all moving all over the place. What is going on. Has there been a mix up in the footage? (In both cases I like the colour and and clarity of the Samsung video better) 7:54 The shop front on the right is blue on P30 pro and red on the S10+ :-O
P30 is ideal a astronomist, scientist, doctor, concert goer, agronomist, private investigator, police, hunter, zoologist, papparazi, reporter, or even stalker or even more. That's a great thing that we can can do to fully utilized the use of photography technolgy in further detail possible which not all smartphone can do like P30 does. Well done Huawei!
The P30 is more like for people who are very outgoing and travel a lot, and the S10 is just for personal use. Samsung’s phones have been getting better each year but the huawei made a huge improvement to its phones in recent years. I’ve been using iPhone’s for many years but I see myself using a Huawei in the upcoming years if their phones get much better.
Also the night mode is insane. But it stuck up on the s10 from display to optimization to from the rest of the camera feature. But still that zoom and night mode is insane. I am not gonna buy it though.
Selfies are VERY SUBJECTIVE. Some people like their natural look 🤭 and some people, like me, want all the enhancements and beautification they can get. 😋

You can change aperture on P30 pro and change the amount of blur too. Plus you can do it in post-shot and either change the focus point after shot. Clear winner: P30 Pro!
I think you should take the night mode update on the galaxy s10 plus into consideration before deciding the winner..the long exposure wil definitely improve the low light performance of the s10 plus.
Here’s what i think: zoom capable compact cameras basically died with phone cameras becoming usable for everyday shots. People sacrificed zoom for convenience. After a very long time 3-5x zoom is coming back into the pocket. It is really nice to shoot with different focal lengths. A portrait is much nicer with a 85mm+ lens. So it’s not really about the zoom, rather than the flexibility of having different focal lengths in the pocket. It is kinda a big deal.
@@SiriaK I don't agree with your point. What is natural, what is unnatural? Identify by human eyes or someone's eyes? One same scene will show different darkness in different people's eyes because the eyes are different. When you identify natural or unnatural by your eyes, it is unnatural. Another point, we need the machine to make photos more clear in low light, just because we do not need a black paper after taking photos.
most of the videos taken by most consumers either end up in the trash folder or if in case used for editing purposes sound will surely be separated and deleted for the music background so IMO video sound quality doesn't really matter as long as it records and you can hear your voice no one will notice how good or terrible the quality is. not to mention the considerable size of 4k video quality which mainly is the reason why videos often end in being deleted. to wrap things up these phones like huawei samsung google are more concerned in photography for the casual shooter than those who prefer filming with their phones
Basically a draw. I hope ppl can cherish the success of one another instead of dissing each other. Trash talking samsung sucks in zoom and night mode will end up the same for huawei since it sucks in videos and recordings. At the end of the day, both are great phones.
I definitely agree. The hardware in their phones are MORE than capable of producing nicer shots, they just need to work on their software. Maybe ask Google for some help? 😅
Both have there plusses and Huawei definitely has some insane features such as night shots and the Hybrid zoom (10x) but overall I'd think the S10 plus would be better for the average user comparing to all day use since you do get that better video quality, better colors, 60 frames recording, slightly better portrait mode, the super steady stabilization and better microphone quality
what? better microphone quality? for me the s10 sounded worse... it has no wind noise reduction at all, just listen how clear his voice is with the p30 pro.
How you finding it? I got the Note 9 and been offered a swap for the P30 Pro... do I do it? I liked my P20 Pro, but the camera was over hyped and pretty shit to be fair, bugs and all that.
Samsung S10+ did a great selfie shots and videos with nice mic, but Huawei P30 pro has a amazing night shots even zooms, more natural color at rear, but on selfie it has a filters which is not nice as he said "looks like ill". P30 Pro With RYB sensor Has More Yellowish Tone Overall which doesnt look good and produces inaccurate results but better for low light.Moreover when we look at S10+ its closer to natural tones with Betted Video/wide angle lens.
The thing I don't like about the P30 is it almost edits the photo/video for me by adding a denoiser or more contrast etc, yes the results look often better at first look compared to the s10+ but I feel the S10+ leaves me more editing capabilities. It's like pro video is often shot very flat, to leave more editing possibilities later.

Couldnt agree more. Tim Cook focuses on the cash more than innovation whereas Steve Jobs always strive for innovation. Now Apple doesnt even innovate any of their stuff maybe add a thing or two and thats it. Dissapointing.

Audio better on s10 for sure, but Samsung needs to work on exposure and on the ultra wide i do like the s10 much better

5:28 The Samsung is in super steady mode in 1080p but there is a noticeable jolt with each step while the P30 pro is smooth.
5:39 It switches around in 4k30 video. The Samsung loses the super steady mode, yet the footage is silky smooth while the P30 pro is supposed to be image stabilisation mode but the footage is all moving all over the place.
What is going on. Has there been a mix up in the footage?
(In both cases I like the colour and and clarity of the Samsung video better)

The P30 is more like for people who are very outgoing and travel a lot, and the S10 is just for personal use.
Samsung’s phones have been getting better each year but the huawei made a huge improvement to its phones in recent years. I’ve been using iPhone’s for many years but I see myself using a Huawei in the upcoming years if their phones get much better.

On the intro, p30 looks a lot better, s10 is too much sharpened and seems unnatural and look at that blurred background its beautiful

You can change aperture on P30 pro and change the amount of blur too. Plus you can do it in post-shot and either change the focus point after shot.

I think you should take the night mode update on the galaxy s10 plus into consideration before deciding the winner..the long exposure wil definitely improve the low light performance of the s10 plus.
The overall image quality is better on the S10+, but the zoom capabilities and the nightmode gives you more flexibility on the P30 Pro.

I really dont get why there is so much focus on the zoom. Do people really use it that much?
Here’s what i think: zoom capable compact cameras basically died with phone cameras becoming usable for everyday shots. People sacrificed zoom for convenience. After a very long time 3-5x zoom is coming back into the pocket. It is really nice to shoot with different focal lengths. A portrait is much nicer with a 85mm+ lens. So it’s not really about the zoom, rather than the flexibility of having different focal lengths in the pocket. It is kinda a big deal.

One same scene will show different darkness in different people's eyes because the eyes are different. When you identify natural or unnatural by your eyes, it is unnatural. Another point, we need the machine to make photos more clear in low light, just because we do not need a black paper after taking photos.

most of the videos taken by most consumers either end up in the trash folder or if in case used for editing purposes sound will surely be separated and deleted for the music background so IMO video sound quality doesn't really matter as long as it records and you can hear your voice no one will notice how good or terrible the quality is. not to mention the considerable size of 4k video quality which mainly is the reason why videos often end in being deleted. to wrap things up these phones like huawei samsung google are more concerned in photography for the casual shooter than those who prefer filming with their phones

Yes they must improve the brightness of the ultrawide lense... the normal lense is bright enough and beats the P30 in my eyes. Just look at the video

Both have there plusses and Huawei definitely has some insane features such as night shots and the Hybrid zoom (10x) but overall I'd think the S10 plus would be better for the average user comparing to all day use since you do get that better video quality, better colors, 60 frames recording, slightly better portrait mode, the super steady stabilization and better microphone quality
what? better microphone quality? for me the s10 sounded worse... it has no wind noise reduction at all, just listen how clear his voice is with the p30 pro.

Samsung S10+ did a great selfie shots and videos with nice mic, but Huawei P30 pro has a amazing night shots even zooms, more natural color at rear, but on selfie it has a filters which is not nice as he said "looks like ill". P30 Pro With RYB sensor Has More Yellowish Tone Overall which doesnt look good and produces inaccurate results but better for low light.Moreover when we look at S10+ its closer to natural tones with Betted Video/wide angle lens.

S10 is far from natural. It tones up every colour when you take a picture. It's like it puts unwanted Instagram Juno filter to everything

The thing I don't like about the P30 is it almost edits the photo/video for me by adding a denoiser or more contrast etc, yes the results look often better at first look compared to the s10+ but I feel the S10+ leaves me more editing capabilities.
It's like pro video is often shot very flat, to leave more editing possibilities later.
99% of ppl won't edit, so that's why it is like that and it is the right approach. Click and forget.
Most people just want to take and get the best photo in 1 shot, but for pro there is a pro mode to shoot raw or control by yourself
