    NSU mopeds were made by NSU in neckarsulum germany between 1953-1963.
    NSU are now Audi and Audi use the original plant in neckarsulum although it's completely new now.
    NSU also made cars. NSU Prinz 1,2 3,&4.
    NSU 1000TT ,TYP 110, Sports Prinz,Wankel Spider.VWK70,Audi 100 etc etc.They had an Irish plant in Ringsend in Dublin run by Reg Armstrong who was a competitive motor cycle rider for NSU.

      The one under the clutch cup?. Press down and twist.
      Pedal one heat and release agent of some kind. Soak in Kerosene over night.

    Hi Tom , great video and useful in the event of future engine rebuild
    I wonder if you could advise? My model N 2 speed revs happily in neutral but pulls poorly when you take off in 1st gear. I’ve cleaned carb, the needle is on second notch so maybe main jet? Grateful for any advise

      They all lose power when you go to put it into gear. I think the best is to pedal start the bike and keep pedalling until the power kicks in. There's probably nothing wrong, but if you're still having trouble, consult a mechanic as I am not one.

    I did a complete strip down on my NSU and have it running very sweetly indeed, I was lucky enough to have had a N.O.S Barrel as the reproduction ones are of poor quality (chrome liner). Nice video

    Hi Tom. When you re assemble the screw that holds the right and middle housing should the nut be on the inside or the outside or does it not matter? I rebuild my own engine Last week and Think i placed the nut on the inside so the screw goes in from the outside and not in from the inside and out to the nut at the flywheel. Hope for answer and some advice if you Think i matter or not, either Way the bolt and nut is tight and wont Come off, and either Way I could not tight it anymore without taken the clutch cover off :)
    Hope it makes sense
    Best regards Lars

      And another question, what would happen if the gear dog is installed the wrong Way so that the side with the deep Cut is upwards? Would the bike be able to shift into gear or would it jump out of gear and make bad sounds?

    • @tomcahill8506
      @tomcahill8506  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi LARS, I have found them both ways, but normally the nut is inside. If the nut falls off it might manage to slip down and cause no damage, where the bolt might. But it should not open really.

    • @LarsPoulsen1998
      @LarsPoulsen1998 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello Tom, another question Thanks for the response. I rebuild my own engine and was very aware that the gear dog was placed with the right side upwards the side that is not Cut out hope you know what i mean. Afterwards i became paranoid i did it wrong and was wondering what the symptoms would be if i have placed the gear dog wrongly with the Cut out side upwards? The bike runs great in both gears and very well in the first gear which should be the gear affected if the gear dog was turned the wrong Way around. It drives fine up Hills and under load. Hope the question make sense. I performed the test where i presses the lever on the right side of the motor with a screwdriver and both gears went in well, so what would the symptoms be if the gear dog was installed the wrong side upwards (the deep and Cut out side upwards or in other words against the ignition side)
      Best regards Lars. Great to learn something new

    Hi Tom, this is an excellent video of the 2 speed rebuild. I have followed it to the letter but BIG BUT, I have the engine on its side and before placing the last cog in place, I rotate the pedal shaft and runs freely. Howver when the cog is pushed home and resting on the leaf spring, I turn the pedal shaft and the gear locks up? Now I have pushed the selector down to neutral and same happens, what have I done wrong? Send me you email and I can send you a video of the above.

      Hello Tom, I’m looking for some advice please , my 1957 2 speed makes a horrible grating noise when the clutch is pulled in, release the clutch and the noise goes, I took the clutch pot off and where it’s recessed at the bottom to go over the large gear wheel there is damage on one corner, like it’s contacted the large gear wheel and it’s ground into the clutch pot, I wonder if you’d have an idea what’s causing this (bought as a non runner, now we’ve got it running we’ve discovered this problem), thank you Mark.
