Another awesome fly Martyn. About 6 years ago I discovered the UK's Fly Fishing & Fly Tying magazine. I loved all the articles, especially George Barron's patterns for lake fishing. I still have to get his book, The End Of The Line (I think it's titled). Frankie McPhillips sounds familiar, I'll have to look him up. That B175 hook, is it a short shank hook? Hi Joe, it's a standard shank wet fly hook. same as the Fulling Mill competition heavyweight. I like George Barron's tying and also have that book, he's a bit dogmatic about using hen hackle for me, but the flies in the book are nice
@@flickingfeathers Thanks for the reply. Yeah I searched the B175, I thought it looked similar to a Daiichi and come to find out they make the Kamasan. I guess that's good news for me as ASG, the Daiichi distributor, is not far from me and I've gotten sample hooks from them. I'm partial to Mustad, Eagle Claw too, because I've used the older Mustad models forever but my supply is limited to a few styles now. As for the other brands, they're all easy to get now, In fact there's too many to choose now, lol. As far as feathers go, I'll use what I have, just so I can have fun tying then fishing the flies. I just like the way all those lake and wet flies look. Check out Steven Bird's "trout spey" stuff. I like his wets and soft hackles.Thanks Martyn, Cheers!
