I really hope this helps you save time syncing a days worth of footage if your team was shooting to timecode. What else would you like me to cover in Premiere Pro?
What if i have a music group, with different video and audio sources (like a quartet recorded in different parts of the world, based on a 'click' track, to have a 'acappella app' result)
I cannot thank you enough for this, I spent the last to days trying to sync several camera angles to the sound and it took me forever - this makes everything so much easier! Thank you so much
I'm just starting a new Documentary that's supposed to be veryyyyyy long shooting and editing. After 3 days of shooting, You helped me to improve the workflow A LOT !!!!! I filmed 1 hour long meetings with One camera but lots of cut, and my first multicam sequence had 55 video tracks... Merci from France.
Found you on reddit a couple of months back. I mainly work (Edit and Assist) on Avid and occasionally use premiere. Your videos have been a god send. so well informed and really clearly explained. So good, thank you!
This is fantastic Javier - thank you so much. I was able to sync a whole day's 2-camera shoot with separate audio in the time it took me to watch this video. You're a life-saver!
Love this video. It's helped me so much in the past. Thank you. Question, has anybody recently experienced Premiere crashing when you try and assign labels to large batches of clips? This has only happened to me very recently.
Oh man, you saved me! I just started working on a project with an extremely tight deadline and needed to find out a quick way to sync multi-cam video + audio to get started. You literally SAVED my ass and I am SO thankful for this ace tutorial!!!! I just subscribed to your channel and sending you BILLIONS of good karma points your way
I wish I could give this video a like every time I come back to watch it to remind myself haha! This is such a lifesaver, especially now that I'm jamming timecode on my two cameras from my MixPre 10 II. Such a time-saver!
Thanks, bro, much appreciated. I didn't realize is that simple to sync all the videos. The best tutorial of how to sync video and Audio on TH-cam, clear and useful.
Wow Thank you so much!! I got 2 cameras with no audio and was trying to basically get a string out with the multicam of each camera but it wasn't working. This solved everything!
Thanks for the super informative tutorial! Two questions: 1) What do you normally do after you’ve synced the footage in your timeline as a next step to editing? Do you link or even nest all the video and audio clips so they can be accessed from the project window like “normal” clips or do you edit by selecting clips from the timeline? And 2) What do you usually do if you find a drift? Select all the audio clips from where the drift began and adjust those all slightly to the left or right in the timeline? Thanks!
Best video ever! I'm somewhat new to video editing and such, but this was a life saver. I didn't know how to drop the file from the Media Broswer to the Project bin, but after that, It's gold! I'm using the AtomX with Ultraone sync, and it's AMAZING. Thanks a ton!!! Can't wait to buy more cameras to utilize this more! Maybe you can get with Atomos to help them make a video for future people like myself. I may be wrong, but I think time code is the future for even smart phone users. Plural eyes is ok, but not for a super busy one man band trying to pump out high end quality like myself Thanks again! Saved my life!
I had almost given up on Premiere's multicam because it wasn't behaving like the old FCP7 method, which was completely, mindlessly easy. This makes total sense. Thanks for shining a light on a ridiculously simple method. Wish I had seen this years ago.
thank you so much for this video!!!! I just did DIT on a project and then was asked to do the editing and I had never used timecode before. I was freaking out when I first tried to sync everything because my timeline was such a mess. This saved me HOURS of clean up!!!!!
As I enter the world of video editing, I've been learning that EVERY aspect of it has endless rabbit holes. It'd be safe to say that no single person will ever master it all! PS: Thanks, Javier for the video! I'm trying to take in all I can!
Thanks you Javier. Ive been tinkering with my multicam footage for years trying to find a more streamlined process for stacking cameras in premiere. This method is great and exactly what i was looking for. If you are still doing AE work let me know and ill hire you.
Great tip! Thank you! Your videos are always super helpful. As a veteran editor who started on AVID back in the day, I'm still finding great nuggets of info here.
QUESTION: How do you get the timecode synced to individual clips? Example I want to open up a clip, with the synced audio, and preview it in the source monitor and then make in and out points and then put it in the timeline. With the method you just showed, I don't even know where to begin. Can you give some advice on this? Thanks for what you do!!!! Seriously, THANK YOU!
LIKE A BOSS! Great comprehensive no-nonsense run-through of exactly what I will need to do next week. Of course, I will have to re-watch at 1/4 speed LOLOL. Thank you for posting. Liked and subscribed.
This was really helpful. I have watched another couple of videos but this one really got things working for me. Thank you very much for your help Javier!
Robin Lefever awesome Robin, once you get to the production level of syncing timecode to other cams things can get way more complicated, glad this was straightforward enough that you got your answers.
I have a question. I just did this but forgot to hit record on the track e timecode thing until later into the shooting day and when I did this as in video it failed to bring in the audio I did capture . I had to drag it in manually and line it up once dragged onto timeline. Also how to get more than four cameras on the time line, mine seems to bring over three ie A1,A2,A3 but no more how to add a line to A and V those blue squares?
Is there a way to see which camera was used ie I use different gopros 9, 10,11 in metadata ? Also if had same camera how to know which is which camera?
Thanks for the awesome quality content. Unfortunately I get stuck at the Camera Label part. It is greyed out so I cannot enter a label into the field. The XMP metadata heading states 'Not Editable' for my DJI MP4 footage. When I import a GOPRO MP4 file it allows me to add metadata. Does anyone have some advice?
Thank you man I appreciate it!!! Everything worked but I don’t know what I did wrong I used 3 camera setup but only 2 tracks opened, how do I fix this issue🙏🏻
Ohhmaahhgawwwdd... you, my friend, are helping me live my life in abundance. Thank you for sharing your tips. I'm going to try this out now... Have a wonderful rest of your week! :) -Kat ***Update: Your method is genius! Unfortunately, it looks like timecode was off for the whole day's shoot. Oh well, at least I know how to do this for future projects. Thanks again!
THANKS A MILLION THIS IS PROBABLE GOING TO CHANGE MY EDITING LIFE!!! LOL I spend so much time syncing shit to slates i absolutely hate wasting hours doing that
How do you produce a synchronized timecode on 3 cameras? What if Im using GoPros or simply i dont have a synchronizer hardware? I was thinking using the world clock by default and use that metadata from the media files to synchronize on the sequence timeline. Is that possible?
Hey Javier, how do I get the original timecode recorded with my sony xdcam to show in premiere pro? I made rough notes using the timecode displayed on the camera during recording and now I cannot see timecodes in premiere. Any help you can provide would be appreciated. Thank you.
So helpful!! Can you let me know why I cannot add effects to the audio clips in the multicam sequence? I want to fill right with left but it won't let me add effects.
@@JavierMercedes I figured out a fix. Before making my multi-cam sequence, I needed to modify the audio from every clip to be interpreted as stereo and not mono. Thanks so much for the quick response, though!
Thanks for that, but how am I supposed to edit with a sequence already full of single clips. Cant i sync Audio with Video so I have it look just like source clips but with linked audio?
Doesn`t work for me. We shot with an ARRI Alexa, FX6 and Audiorecorder, all 3 synched on timecode. For the FX6 files, labelling all clips at once worked, but not for the ARRI files. Had to do them one after another. When I try to create the multicam timeline only a few clips are synched, but not the FX6 files.
Hello, I want to ask something, for example, there are 100 clips in the camera, there is a 1 minute difference between the video and the audio file. In the "avid" program, we can select -1 minute for 100 clips and combine them all with a single button, but I could not find this in Premiere. If you know a way, can you help me, thank you. .
Love the video! This worked perfectly for me the first time. But on another day of footage for the same project it says the metadata isn't editable to name the camera label. Any idea what could be causing that?
Click the 3 lines next to the Metadata window in Premiere, and select "Metadata Display...", then look for Camera Label and make sure it's enabled with the tick box. You could also just enable the checkbox for all Dynamic Media metadata
This helped me understand a bunch, but what if you didn't know to use timecode during video capture? How can I efficiently sync an A cam, B Cam (iphone), and external audio (separate mix) to a multicam?
I really hope this helps you save time syncing a days worth of footage if your team was shooting to timecode. What else would you like me to cover in Premiere Pro?

I knew how to do that on Final Cut 7.... your video helped me a lot! Cheers
Could you go over a way to export all of these takes after they are lined up to timecode in premiere? Thank you!
Thank you Javier, I got the solution in this video.
Wow. Thanks a lot, man!
I cannot thank you enough for this, I spent the last to days trying to sync several camera angles to the sound and it took me forever - this makes everything so much easier! Thank you so much
I'm so happy, I'm literally about to cry haha. Thank you so much for this fantastic explanation. Really helped me!

This is the best, most concise, timecode tutorial in TH-cam for prem users. Thank you so much.
Love this video. It's helped me so much in the past. Thank you.
Question, has anybody recently experienced Premiere crashing when you try and assign labels to large batches of clips?
This has only happened to me very recently.
Don't normally leave comments but this really is exactly what I was looking for, thank you for taking the time to put this together
This saved me so much stress and time. I had no idea how to even approach syncing the audio before this. THANK YOU!!!

That was some seriously concentrated knowledge you just dropped! Amazing!
You just saved me HOURS in my workflow Javier Mercedes.
THANK YOU!!!! This saved me hours and is the PROPER way to do this for a project that has many editors touching the project. Great work!
Exactly the demographic of editor I was looking to reach. glad I could help!

Best Premiere Video of all time. True hero.
I spent 4 hours before I found your lesson to build one camera by timecode! Thank you very much!
Do you have any idea what could be happening with the error of when in the metadata window?
This was wonderful for streamlining a 6 camera shoot- thank you so much!
This is sooo helpful, especially for passing of to the team or Senior Editor. Thank you So much again!
Man You deserve more subscribers ❤️
Finally moving on from pluraleyes, I think. This is great. Very helpful!
Aaand thank you for sending me down a hole learning about Timecode...

Amazing tutorial this is killer. Coming from Avid this is just what I was looking for. Subscribed based on this. This is the way. 👍
Thank you so much for this, a huge timesaver for the project I'm currently editing.
My man, tysm! Don't sleep on the power of metadata.
Deserve a thumbs up for that clear and useful tutorial. Thanks
Hey Thanks Javier this thing saved my hours of sitting a#s its really really detailed & thing you shared

Man, you saved me a lot of work and hours. THANKS A LOT!
So glad I can help!
I seem to have followed this and created the multicam sequence with 3 gopros. Is there another video that shows how to edit the sequence?
Thanks!
This tutorial saved me a full day. Thank you!
Does this process still work and make sense if there’s only one single camera?
How did you remove the subfolders so elegantly? Looks like there a key you can press along with the mouse klicks? If so could you share what it is?

hey, I tried in my full wedding video coverage and it's not working :( do you have any tutorial for other way to sync for other events? thank you!
Damn. Saved me hours of work.
Super helpful Javier! Thanks.
Worked perfect. Thank you!
You saved my ass with this. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

You may need to flatten the clip first before adding effects

how to you do muliple audio tracks?

Premiere is dumb and won't let you assign cam label or angle to proxies (when you have offlined the full res)

only one angle is showing up for some reason. the A cam is my canon r5 and the b cam is my iPhone...could that change anything? thanks in advanced!
Hi. I don’t have “Track Assignment” in my 2014 version. Do i have to upgrade to latest version? Plz guide
