The 250R was the best quad for over a Decade.It was legendary on the track.The dimensions we’re damn near perfect and up until this past generation nothing could beat it.
Even to this day with a 400r monster kit nothing can outperform it,

Had them both. Loved them both equally.
The guy riding a 450 didn't seem as comfortable as the guy on the 250
Corbin Karnes the 250r is so light and has a lower center of gravity. The 450er is heavy and the center of gravity is stupid tall unless he had a custome sub frame done.

No school like old school 250r for ever . I have a 250r garage queen I take out some times just to let the new quads known what a real atv is and it kicks ass every time 30 years old .
About 6 months ago I finished a full restoration of a 86 250r, I only drove it once lol. Legendary machine
@@tacatv129 when I bought mine in 87 it scare me at all , I did a full nut and bolt restoration 4 years ago original motor just changed the suspension and swing arm ( I got fat over time ) and it looks like it just came off the dealer floor, I'm older and it scares the hell out of me .

I grew up on a 1985 atc 250r and i own a 2008 trx 450r the to best wheelers ever in my opinion
Something about hitting the power band on a 2 stroke just feels right.
What jetting did you run in the 450. I have one with some light mods and there isn't a shop to help me tune it where I am at out in the country. Mine has a massive dead spot off idle after the airbox and exhaust upgrades

Best sounding 4 stroke ever was john Natalie's honda 450 at gatorback for winter Olympics in 2002 or 2003 cant remember. But I'll never forget that sound. He was so far out ahead of the rest of the pro class that tech inspection tore his motor down between motos to make sure they weren't cheating.

Allen at CT racing built all my 85 honda atc 250 top ends from 265cc to 310cc, race gas to methanol. Fast engines back in the 90's and still knows how to make them reliable fast!

RockymountainATVMC is a good supplier but your local Honda dealer should still be able to get a lot of replacement parts in for you.

Both really are awesome machines. Honda reliability and genius simple design in both quads is what really sets them apart and why you saw more Hondas on the track in the two stroke days and also why you still see more Hondas on the track now that 4 strokes have taken over. Just like the video implies, the razor sharp front end and predictable slidability of the backend on the 250 makes it the legend that it is but you have to admit if you have ridden both that it's EASIER to go fast on the 450. It just puts the power to the ground and also handles great with less slide, more carve. Real men ride two strokes though, at the end of the day lol. Just kidding but not really LOL

I own a couple of TRX450s and ridden this TRX250 and I must say the 250 is much lighter and more nimble in comparison but the 450 makes up in power.

I have a 04 Honda Trx450r 62 HP full hmf system 180 main jet 3 inch air filter rev limiter box motor is built stage 2 Cam I still like the 250r
My 05 has 12.5:1 CP carillo piston, +1 Ferrera valves, Mild port job, HRC cam, full Curtis sparks, FCR carb, no airbox lid, and still not making 62 HP
@@drizziog492 I forgot no lid on airbox full port and polished head vavle job has the 13.5.1 high compression piston it's a fast bike
The bottom end is where the 450 beats the 250, but midrange and top end 250 wins all day

I've owned an 86 and 88 trx 250r,2013,2007,and 2014 450r,2 I still have,and a few at 250rs 86,81,84,... honda is best by far. I miss the 2 stroke sound but a 450r is every bit as good as a 250r,rider means a lot. They are all great machines

Eek... That's a tough decision.
The 450r is definitely faster, more reliable, and handles like a dream. But the 250r is so much fun... 6 gears vs 5.. plus the Smurf juice smoke.. like riding a pissed off hornet.
But I gotta choose the 450

Cheers Andy for your feedback. The TRX450R engine has basically remained the same since its inception. In terms of weight, it hasn't really changed whatsoever. Nice video by the way!
