European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen has called far-right parties "Putin's proxies" weeks ahead of elections to the European parliament. Opinion polls suggest that far-right parties could make significant gains and influence EU's policy on Ukraine and Russia. European leaders fear that a right-wing EU could end military aid to Ukraine and reset relations with Putin's Russia. Von der Leyen is said to be reaching out to Italy's right-wing prime minister Giorgia Meloni for support from her right-of-centre coalition. What would a far-right European Union look like?
