  • เผยแพร่เมื่อ 6 ส.ค. 2013
  • Velocity calculations are easy to do - you just need to know a few tricks to get your answers exact. You will learn that speed is a measurement of distance and time, and how to easily transpose to work out any speed distance time calculation.

    Speed=distance(12m)

    S=D/T
    S=12m/3's
    =4m/s

    so what if the unit given is in minutes or seconds? ... for example
    A train leaves Station A at 11:48 and arrives at Station B at 11:52. The distance between the two stations is 94km. What is the average speed of the train in km/hr?

    • @tecmath
      @tecmath  8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      +YummiestOrphan
      Ah time...you've got to decimalise it. To do this, you divide the minutes by 60.
      For example, say we want to know the speed of something that travels 30km in 1 hour 30 minutes. Dividing the minutes (30 ) by 60 gives 0.5, so the time of 1 hour 30 minutes is 1.5 hours.
      Speed = distance/time
      = 30km/1.5hours
      = 20 km/hr
      Oh, and in some answers where time is say 1.25 hours (as in one and a quarter hours) to get the minutes multiply the decimal by 60. So here 0.25 hours is
      0.25 x 60 = 15 minutes
      1.25 hours is therefore 1 hour and 15 minutes.
