I️ started playing guitar when I️ was 13 and instantly I️ fell in love with Tommy Emmanuel, when I️ turned 15 I️ started doing some carpentry work and the first real carpenter I️ ever worked with was Paul Mosley, I️ had no idea who he was and most people don’t know he’s a carpenter (an excellent one at that) and we talked about playing guitar and different artists we admired and at some point in our conversation I mentioned how much I️ liked Tommy and then he told me he knew him and that he had played with him several times and I️ thought he was joking or lying to me at first, but after learning that I️t was true this was one of the coolest moments in my life, Paul is one of the greatest men I’ve ever met and I wish I️ knew him better.
He learned by making the guitar sound like what he had in his head. If he thinks it, he plays it. No hesitation, no restriction. If he hears it he can play it, on the spot. With Tommy the guitar is no longer an instrument, its his voice.
Tommy is still fairly young and can still give us several more years of entertainment. He appears to be taking care of his health unlike a lot of other entertainers. Is there anything left for him to learn?
Tommy likes good music, that is why he creates some of the best. No words left to describe his musicality. You give him a melody he can, right away, start inprovising on it. Apparently no matter the genre. Country, Jazz, Pop, Swing, Polka, I have heard him...After all, to him, it is all just music.
Love that tune..Deed I Do. Some of the most enjoyable improvising I have heard in a long time. The man's musical genius really shows up in these situations, almost recordable quality on the spur of the moment. There are no words left to describe his musicality.
Tommy in his element - a roomful of fingerpickers. He is flying six feet off the ground. It's a beautiful thing to witness - completely uninhibited genius.
This is priceless! Wonderful seeing and hearing Tommy make the guitar sing. One question: which guitar is Tommy playing here - did Merle Travis own it? I noticed they wanted Tommy to be careful with it, and not stretch the strap in the wrong direction.

Well said. Tommy is so remarkably expressive, and then with such astonishing ease on top, seams to double the wonder.
With 12 hrs a day practice

Glenn Christie plenty to learn, if he keeps playing with Sylvain Luc etc
What a very profound way of putting it. I like it. Can you even imagine being that good at what you do - and - getting paid for it ?
He is such a natural on this guitar I keep coming back to see it.
