      lol, yeah that's usually how I build things. But since I started filming stuff on TH-cam I try to use the right tools because everybody will see how it was made vs the end product😂. You can probably get away with a hammer and thin finish nails. Just hit the center of the plywood and you should be fine with wood glue once it dries. Good luck!

    Just want to say thank you! I had watched your previous videos on the marquee numbers after one of my clients asked me for some and I did not know what they were. Made it and it looks great! Went with 1/2in baltic birch plywood (4x8 ft) because my HD did not have cheaper yet good looking sanded plywood and I made side pieces spanning the full width of the base. That bumped up the price quite a bit and I used up a full sheet for 2 numbers, each 4 ft tall. (Hoping this can give some practical numbers to other makers :))

    May sound like a silly question but what do you do with the excess lighting? I’m assuming after putting in the lights there may be some left over what do you do? I love your videos and want to make one.

    • @MakerDecor
      @MakerDecor  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, it depends if I only use 9 lights the excess I just leave in the back, but take off the light bulb. Because I dont want it swinging around and breaking. I also use a staple gun sometimes just to keep some of the wire hidden in the back if I need it. Thanks for watching.

    • @MakerDecor
      @MakerDecor  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, they are not weather proof especially with rain. But the paint job seals in the wood pretty good and the lights are christmas lights. Thanks for the sub!

    Tried building some marquees but don’t have a nail gun, I tried nailing the sides in by hand but the nails would exit the wood thru the side. 1/2” plywood. Do you think if I bought a nail gun it would solve the issue?

    • @MakerDecor
      @MakerDecor  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, thanks for watching. What kind of nails did you use. Because there are a lot of different nails and thicker nails will cause the plywood to separate. The nail gun I use is actually called a brad nail gun. It only shoots brad nails, which are very thin nails. You should be able to use very thin nails and hammer into 1/2 inch plywood no problem. But a brad nail gun is awesome and does help a lot. It will help with 1/2 inch but not 1/4 inch. Hope this helps!

    How did you create on your computer? I be trying to create with the numbers so it's easy to put togeteher

    • @MakerDecor
      @MakerDecor  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, yes on the computer. You can make them on software like photoshop. It does take me a good amount of time to make it right. Some times you can use just a regular size image and go to your printer settings and look for multiple images or tile image. This will make the printer do that. But every printer is different so I would look up settings and see what your printer options are. Thanks

    I bought the guide on Etsy and we are using your stencil but I don’t understand how to add the lights. I have watched several videos and I do not understand the electrical part. Do you buy a chain of patio lights and if so, what do you do with the extra ones? That you don’t use when you connect?? Or do you buy the wire separate, the lightbulbs, the connectors?

    • @MakerDecor
      @MakerDecor  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, sorry for the late reply. I usually reply on TH-cam with in a day a two due to the high amount of comments. To make it easier and quicker, I answer through Etsy usually with in an hour. And it is easier because I can see what is purchased which makes it a lot easier to answer questions. For the 3ft marquees I use the ones linked below the video in the description titled 10Ft Outdoor String Lights with 11 Clear Edison Bulbs amzn.to/3Fbrheg They have 10 bulbs and should fit the 3ft marquees. But I do leave that part open because you can just buy any lights that fit your budget and follow the instructions on 8:33 to install them. With most numbers I use all 10 lights. But if I use 9, then I just leave the light bulb off and use it with just 9 bulbs and never had any issue. You can just tuck the cord in the back as it is not seen. For 4ft marquees you can fit some with the 10ft lights but it can be slightly snug depending on where you put your light holes in the wood. Which I created this video that discusses it further th-cam.com/video/HQxca0VqOAs/w-d-xo.html But I leave it open as they can follow what I did or make more light holes, use different lights or what ever they would like. If you buy 20 ft lights you would just staple the excess lights out of the way in the back and take out any light bulbs you do not use in the front. Hope this helps and if you have any other questions it would be easier and faster to message through Etsy as I wont check this again till maybe tomorrow night. Sorry and thank you very much!

    Can i use 3/4 8x4

    • @MakerDecor
      @MakerDecor  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, if you use 3/4 for the edges you would need a miter saw to make all the angled cuts. I would not recommend 3/4 as it is very thick. And when you put it all together it will weigh a lot. Heavy stuff is difficult to transport and store. The weight adds up quick. Thanks for watching.
