    I would really like to see a show about John, his guitars, musical history, and some playing. When he does rig rundowns he is good with people in the musical industry, asks the right questions, and gets a great reception. Please have John do a rig rundown on himself.

    I think the se is now the core line and the core line is private stock and private stock is only attainable by inheritance lol

    • @orlock20
      @orlock20 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      And the S2 line is for those wanting a fender or Gibson, but want to also buy sight unseen and have much fewer problems.

      @@orlock20 ya man I have an s2 singlecut. I ended up buying a used 2014 gibson tradition used for the same price and it blows the s2 out of the water for sound. The s2 though is better for live gigs though due to it staying it tune. Love both though, just wish I could efford a prs core line model.

      the SE of today is a far cry from the SE i grew up with, which was...not bad, but not exactly great
      the new SEs are perfectly fine guitars which we could have only dreamed of having for the money 20 years ago

      @@k.g.alatore355 ya very true. I remember my first guitar was a el-degas strat cloan. I loved it so much and still have it but when I play it now I think....wow how did I play this lol. Glad guitars are made better now a days for sure.

    Thanks for the demo/review! I just ordered one. Spoke with a guy who works at PRS. He wrote back: "Shawn in customer service at PRS says he's pretty sure it's the same proprietary fret wire on most PRS models. Said the size is basically 6150." So there we go. According to Warmoth, 6150 is: .104" width X .047" high..so considered "Wide and tall". The standard "Jumbo".

    I just bought one of these used, well it was never played. Paid half of the retail. I think I’ve tuned it once before a show to make sure I was in tune, never had to tune it since! Crazy! The guitar pickups are hot and it can get away from you, for example if you’re a strat tele guy which I’m both. I love the tone, versatility and functionality of this guitar. Very happy with it. Yes it’s made in China but so is the phone or computer you’re watching this on, and your shoes and most of your gear unless you’re a millionaire excuse me a billionaire, sounds great love it.

    Ive owned so many PRS guitars over the years, including american core custom 24's, and the 594, various se's and s2s. This is hands down my favorite PRS of all time.
    They dont make a core version of this guitar and i dont understand why. The american core hollowobdy is a carved top, not traditional laminated ply (like a 335) so its a totally different guitar than this.

    Just played one today...And then one just showed up at my house! Superb. Over my budget, but it was a "have to have it" guitar, so I did it! No remorse, but a loud complaint from my better half. I went for the Zach Meyers 594, Liked it, but tuners were awful. Adding the price of new tuners put that guitar into the hollow body's price range and then moving up to this great guitar was a no brainer. The SE Hollow Standard is a much better value. The neck size, to me, was perfect. The 10" radius along with the wide neck width made barre chords really easy to play up and down the neck.

My one hesitation would be that much like the Epiphone Casino, the hollowbody design lends itself to lots of feedback. This can be really effective, but it can be extremely challenging to control. Any thoughts on this design versus one that has the center block?

Being in a wheelchair makes for some clumsy moments. To have a HBII to just play the devil out of it is going to be amazing. I won’t miss the piezo. But, I’d have liked a Paul’s guitar type toggle to split the pickups. But, PRS never releases what I want until I’ve already bought the last generation.

    Nice guitar -and playing :-) Only wish PRS would do two volume controls more often. That config opens up so many more tonal options. Love it on the 594 and DGT, miss it everywhere else. I know this would be a tough fit physically on this sweet guitar, and also maybe affect price point. Just an overall wishlist item from a multiple PRS core models owner and player. Possibly forget the mini toggle switches on some guitars and just give us that second volume.

    From my experience SE means wood moisture problems. I own one PRS SE acoustic guitar. The neck’s still alive after a year. Playability though is exceptional ... still it’s ..hm.. it feels kinda Chinese. Too good to send it back too Chinese to be happy

    I bought a Washburn HB35 w/case wine red. New, just finger pick .....always dreaming...mostly self taught......you really helped me hear this guitars quality & versitility.
    Makes me secure about my choice if I go for a smaller spicey still mellow & warm sound to wild.
    Your fantastic playing makes the difference......😄😆🤗🎼🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎵🎵🎶🎶🎶🎶
    What kind of amp & settings & or pedals etc. did you use......for this guitars natural expression you describe?

    Hey John nice demo, I like the clean sounds best, I love hollow bodies, this one seems to have a smaller/tighter sound than the 6120 or 175. Is that what you found? Can wait to try one.

    Great job, I cant wait for the hollowbody ii I ordered to come in. As for made in china, who cares, Paul's putting his name behind these and there still getting inspected before sale so I'll be sleeping fine knowing that. Marry Christmas fellow geeks!!

      I thought these were Indonesian by PRS' factory at PT Cort. I just got one of the SE acoustics which is indeed made in China (says so proudly on the back) and it is one amazing guitar. It plays like a guitar that cost 2 or 3 times as much.

      @@jacobsmith1877 yup, acoustic se's and these se hollowbody's are made in china. I believe most if not all the solid body se's are now made in Indonesia, but I'm not sure on that.

    • @jacobsmith1877
      @jacobsmith1877 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kilofireb8584 Yeah I just looked into it. The hollowbodies are in China at the Cor-tek factory which specializes in acoustics. It makes sense as a hollowbody is basically an acoustic with magnetic pickups on it. The solidbodies and semi-hollows will continue to be in Indonesia.
