Finished one right this minute. Good pattern. Al ittle guesswork involved and some personal toutches were added. I used tuck locks instead of buckles an sewed the front grain to grain and the back flesh to flesh. Very happy with the outcome
I made this for a friend and it turned out beautifully. I changed the front buckles to have magnet closures and I lengthened the handle attachment straps to add a stitch line in front of the rivets for more strength. I still am not sure what to do with the inside side flaps. I just left them loose but maybe they could've been attached? Anyway, thank you so much for the pattern and video. Fantastic!
Been selling these bags for $1200 for the past couple yesrs on my website. Just alter them slightly to make a different bag to avoid any legal issues but you can use their patterns as a base to get started with.
I have always wanted to make a satchel, but have not been able to get enough leather to be able to make one and still have enough leather for other projects, plus I have not had a satchel pattern to work with but now I do thank you and keep up the amazing work
This Stone Oiled Side Green is 4-4.5 oz (1.6-1.8 mm) and has an aged look, sometimes looking grey to me in certain light. Here's the link to Tandy's site to purchase it and for more information: tandyleather.com/products/stoned-oil-side-green?_pos=3&_sid=b90730bfa&_ss=r
I know I'm late to the party...I thoroughly love your videos and those great pieces you create. Perhaps you can help me...I've downloaded this Handmade Leather Satchel pattern and have tried with multiple settings on my computer to get the pattern to print to the necessary size...My printer will only the images displayed on the preview print screen ~ one (1) page... I'm sure it's me, my Mac or my printer...any suggestions?? Thank you for your time and for sharing this pattern!!!
HI, how long do you cut the 2 shoulder straps. One looks shorter than the other and the pattern only has the bag closure straps. Thanks for sharing this tutorial! We're excited to make this bag.
Hello! One of the pieces is shorter and has the buckle attached. The longer piece is for the buckle to fasten to and has holes for spacing. I hope this helps! Let me know how it goes 😊
Hello. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and time. Amazing work. Please, what is the size/dimension of the paper to print the pattern? Thanks in advance. Peace!
Hello! The size is something like 36" x 48". It's rather large so I included the overall dimensions for all the pieces. You should be able to print the smaller pieces though. Good luck!
Thanks! The side panels just fold in so that the bag does not buckle and protects the interior contents. However, you could do without this and cut down the flaps. Or, you could include a zipper closure. Cheers!
This is printed on 8.5" by 11" pages. I believe if you are using Adobe Acrobat Reader, you can select the "Poster" button when printing, then add "Cut Marks" and it will print with whichever page size you're using.
Am I missing something? When I downloaded the pattern, there was only the first page, overview. Were there other pages? There are also parts in the video that are not in the overview such as the pocket, shoulder strap and handle.
what pricking irons do you use? I have been looking for ones that add the punched effect without using a single punch but can't find the name for the darn things
@@legacybrandleather Thanks for your reply. I believe what didn't help was the dark leather, black cutting board, and dark clothing. Keep up the great work.
Je vous remercie beaucoup pour le partage. ..et j'aimerais bien si vous traduire en bas en français , l'image n'es pas clair je vous félicite monsieur b. Courage 💪
Nice work. Good looking bag. However, the instructions are confusing, the camera is too close to the work and you're filming dark leather on a dark background making it very difficult to see what's being done. Looking forward to future better produced video.
I used thicker card stock. If you don't have a way to print these large enough, I gave the overall dimensions of the larger pieces on the pattern so you could tape paper together, like I did in the video. You could also tape regular paper to a thicker material and cut it, i.e. card stock or even cardboard could work. I hope this helps! If you end up making it, tag me on Instagram @legacybrandleather. Cheers!
Thank you verry much. But the details were not clear ،The video was a bit unclear, like you were working in the dark ... the lighting was deficient. Thank you.
Open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat Reader. Select File > Print Under ‘Page Sizing & Handling’ click the ‘Poster’ tab and Print This will print the entire PDF in tiles on 8.5” x 11” paper that you can then tape together and cut out the pattern pieces by hand. Let me know if you're still having issues printing to size. Cheers!
@@legacybrandleather Thank You! I know what I'm making my dad for Christmas. A few more questions, what is the spacing for your stitching irons? What weight leather were you using? I'm excited, I just finished making my first leather tote for my cousin and I cant wait to get my hands on making something like this. I wish my stitching was a nice looking as yours. Last week for practice, I stitched about 20ft of strap to work on my stitching but I still cant mimic that perfectly robotic stitching look. watching videos like yours really gets me hyped
ok so call me an idiot but i dont have adobe pro on my chromebook so i cant poster print in multi pages. ok well adobe online is giving me trouble bc you have to upload an image on the poster builder...k so when i convert the .pdf to .jpeg [image format] it lost quality. my regular viewer and print options to kewp size true takes a dump by printing one corner on the first page.... look guys how tf do i print out this gd pattern off my chromebook bc google is not heloing much and im getting frustrated
Thanks. Yeah, if I were to film this project again, I would use my LED light rig. I try using natural light, but in this scenario it's proven too difficult to see.
I don't know why people design the handle like that. The leverage under weight will tear the rivets out in short order. A leather strap at each end of the handle that travels down either side of the bag in the same way the shoulder strap travels down each end of the bag should be used. Anchor by stitching instead of rivets (you can use rivets IN ADDITION to stitching if you think it will help) and it will be much sturdier. Stitching is extremely strong this way because it spreads load tension over many stitches, whereas with rivets the load is all supported at only two points, those being the two inner rivets closest to the handle on either side. Nice design otherwise!
I would hope anyone who has all these tools already has a pattern like this or similar. You know since you have all these specialty tools. Also this video as I’m sure you gather is not a step by step follow along. You should know what your doing as a professional leather craftsman. This video is only meant to promote the leather manufacturers product. That’s it. It’s just this creators way to earn more revenue though a partnership aka being a products pimp.

تحفة فنية رائعة ومجهود فائق تستحق عليه الشكر والتقدير والاحترام لشخصكم الغالى والمبدع والفنان المتألق دائماً؛
What a beauty. Thanks, man.
I am a beginner and really want to make this bag but the whole sewing and then flipping thing makes me nervous.
Just jump in man best way to learn by screwing it up lol. Watch Nigel armitage, leodis, and Mascon leather. You’ll get it. Don’t give up
I learned more about leather work by making mistakes. Some small, some huge. Don’t be afraid, just do it.
Cook bag I am definitely making it.

Hi sir' may i know what the size of printable pattern?
Thank you for sharing your craftmanship 🙂❤️
The top flap template says 15" in length, but the actual dimension measured in Illustrator is 14". Which one is it?
Thank you for bringing that to my attention. The top flap width is 14" wide, not the 15" it states on the pattern. I will amend that.

Oh I'm so jelly it looks to complicated to do is it?
I think if you break up the project into individual tasks over a period of time it's not that daunting. If you end up trying it, good luck!
how to print this pdf to get the exact size???? someone help plese
