Actually,for the US charts the correct number is 29 #1's ,which includes Beatles,Wings,solo,and duets with Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson.And if you include cover versions by other artists of songs that Mccartney wrote or co-wrote that went to #1,it's 34.
