Hey guys, check out my Spotify for tons of fun covers, INCLUDING my debut album with Pure Noise! - open.spotify.com/artist/2Y3LFSXIRTjJZyjIA22qJA?si=WbiyEW_HRBKtldeqNKd3eg
Your profile says, "I took your favorite song and made it a different genre." It should say, "I took your favorite song and made it better." You seriously rock, dude.
I’m “absolutely” sure that Blink knew they had to come back after seeing the reaction people have had to Alex’s Blink covers. Dude deserves a guest spot on that new album for keeping the flames stoked.
I will never get tired of "If Blink 182 Wrote..." Before I started following Alex, I was not aware of how much Blink was written into my DNA. This stuff is pure manna for my soul.
@@alainachkar I've been saying this since it came out. I've bought copies to give to other people. So many other songs on it deserved to be played on the radio and should have become hit singles. Radio in the 90s liked to play one song by a band to death and ignore the rest of their catalogue.
As a 90's pop-rock kid, this is one of my (absolutely) favorite songs ever and you definitely did it justice! Also, it's endless disgusting how awesome you are at every instrument lol.
Every time I see you post a "If Blink 182", I instantly have to click. Another certified banger! At this point I wonder if Tom, Mark & Travis watch your videos for inspiration!
Who else sat through the blank part waiting for a "hey guys its alex"? I had to re-listen to that buildup into the instrumental at 1:40, so dang good! 2:43 kinda gave me 'my own worst enemy' vibes.
The lead singer of Nine Days and the girl this song is about are both teachers at my high school!! (Yes they’re married, he teaches English and she teaches italian)
this just reminded me how long it's been since I've listened to Man Overboard. and how long it's been since I've even thought about this song lol. thank you!
i've been listening pretty much non stop to your blink-style covers and just when i tought i had heard them all ... i stumble upon this absolute gem. Thanks, Melton. Your skills and feeling with the punk rock genre is absurd. You kinda make me want to throw out all my gear. :')
I go through periods where all I listen too is Alex Melton. I'm convinced you can do anything, play anything, and make anything better in every genre. I love your covers/interpretations and I love your originals. Keep it going for the sake of humanity haha
Nine Days' The Madding Crowd was the first album I ever bought for myself, and they will always be one of my favorites. Probably the only band you could cover that would tug more at my inner teenage heartstrings would be Prozzäk. I don't know that I see that happening, but I wouldn't have bet on this track either, so I suppose I can dream.
Your “in the spirit” of Blink videos helped bridge the gap to the current Tom’s back era. Thank you for all of these, they are an amazing series of work.
This is so so good. You capture the Tom/Mark/Travis vibe so well on all the instruments. The little mini bass solo when everything else drops out is chef's kiss!
Def got chills over here. Wow. When I think you've hit an impossibly high level of awesome, you keep getting better! This versions feels both more wild and more free while still keeping true to the contradictory emotional heart of what made the original so fun.
If anyone is looking to make nice sounding recordings with an e-kit like Alex does with his Roland, I've had a ton of fun using the DTX series from Yamaha. The silicon heads are 10/10
This song holds a very special place in my heart because of how it came into my life and also how it's always stayed with me. Thank you for releasing this ON MY BIRTHDAY of all days!!! 💞
I've followed your channel for a few years, being a millenial, and loved everything i've heard. I love this song, and I love Blink, but unfortunately this is the first time I cannot hear this version as Blink cover - I guess compared to other Blink covers with exaggerated Tom? This isn't a slight towards you, it may be just the first time I've discovered "If Alex Melton wrote Absolutely (story of a girl} which is even better.

you gotta put no scrubs on spotify please!
Your profile says, "I took your favorite song and made it a different genre." It should say, "I took your favorite song and made it better." You seriously rock, dude.
I follow you on Spotify. I’m a huge fan of your music l. You inspire me to keep working hard on my goals.
hope we can jam one day.. you're way outta my league but we love the same songs..lol
I wished that there was more on Apple Music
Every video title should be:
"If Alex Melton made it harder and harder to listen to the original version of your favorite songs."
/made songs that you got sick of 20 years ago into better songs
I’m “absolutely” sure that Blink knew they had to come back after seeing the reaction people have had to Alex’s Blink covers. Dude deserves a guest spot on that new album for keeping the flames stoked.
Your order of operations is astounding.
@@chand911 not bad for a dude who’s not even a math surgeon, amirite?
Sure
Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big fan of Alex and his work, but ‘blink’ at least the remaining 2/3s never stopped touring.
@@MattWatsonComedy was never the same with skiba tho. imo the band wasn't the same after tom's departure.
Every single “if Blink 182 wrote…” song goes so hard. You capture their sound so well. Nicely done my dude.
Thank you for including the rest before "girl" in the last chorus. It is *absolutely* essential to the enjoyment of the song 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
The bass breakdown at 2:17 is superb and very Blink.
This is the story of a squirrel 🐿️
Story of a girl feels like one of those songs that in an alternate universe Blink-182 actually did record
I remember back in the limewire days this song was labelled as blink 182 and so many people thought it was a blink song back then.
Scenes shot in random places with handheld cameras might be the.most Blink thing ever.
Alex and the Meltons always kill with their Blink covers, and this is no exception. Keep rocking my dudes!
I will never get tired of "If Blink 182 Wrote..." Before I started following Alex, I was not aware of how much Blink was written into my DNA. This stuff is pure manna for my soul.
Nine Days is still one of my favorite bands of all time. Let me tell you I've never clicked on a video faster, and as always, absolutely NAILED it. 😁
Same! I have this album and just listened to this song yesterday. 😂
The madding crowd is an underrated masterpiece
Right? As soon as I saw this I was like YUP LETS GO.
Kind of nice to see people who like this album, it's so good

This is exactly the sound that once made me fall in love with blink182. Wish new singles would sound like this. Amazing mate
The bass breakdown at 2:15 is 🔥
I love the Blink 182 embellishments ... incredible job!
Every time I see you post a "If Blink 182", I instantly have to click. Another certified banger! At this point I wonder if Tom, Mark & Travis watch your videos for inspiration!
Man this drumming is so clean 🧼
Your Enema-era Hoppus voice is bang-on in this one!
he stopped doing the voices
Those double time drums at the very end were the icing on the cake
Who else sat through the blank part waiting for a "hey guys its alex"?
I had to re-listen to that buildup into the instrumental at 1:40, so dang good! 2:43 kinda gave me 'my own worst enemy' vibes.
I was already super late to post, so i figured i could skip the talky bits this week lol
These are always incredible. Awesome job yet again.
Blink 191 (182+9) Days is awesome.
Slaaaaps! This is one of my favorites that you’ve done.
I never can tell Alex apart from the Meltons. It's so difficult.
The lead singer of Nine Days and the girl this song is about are both teachers at my high school!! (Yes they’re married, he teaches English and she teaches italian)
Man this is so good! You got the drums as close to Travis as possible for a regular human being. Love it takes me back to 5TH GRADE.
Real talk, 'The Madding Crowd' is (still) a solid album. This is soooo good.
Mad respect for anyone who can do every aspect of a band and do it well.
can we get brand new cover or "in style of brand new" sometime? love these
this just reminded me how long it's been since I've listened to Man Overboard. and how long it's been since I've even thought about this song lol. thank you!
Been waiting for this cover 🤗one of my favorite band Nine Days
Two of my favorite things combined? Nice!

Just another banger that I didn’t know I needed in my life. Thanks Alex!

❤ literally listened to the original version a couple hours before this came out today!
This is so good!❤
Drums are point !!!
the choke on the last "this is the story of a - girl" is and always will be a defining musical moment of my childhood
I was asking for some na na's and you didn't disappoint. i love you.
My man single bandedly keeping Blink relevant. Keep MELTON on!!
It’s so perfect that this popped up in my feed as uploaded 9 days ago. Awesome 😎
What the hell, the drumming in this is ridiculous, some really tasty fills and syncopations, you're not too far from Barker!!!
Nine Days' The Madding Crowd was the first album I ever bought for myself, and they will always be one of my favorites.

When he did the 'Na Nas'...I felt that
I love the four year string version. this one is different and still awesome! good job!
Your “in the spirit” of Blink videos helped bridge the gap to the current Tom’s back era. Thank you for all of these, they are an amazing series of work.
this is EXACTLY what i was hoping for when i was searching for a cover of this!
AHH, you did it Travis-drums. In my head I was thinking Scott-drums Josie double-time all through with longer chorus singing notes. Great job mate!
Videos must be paying off if that's a Bosch dishwasher I spy. haha, good work!
I really like Four Year Strong's version of this. This one doesn't really sound like that one, so I think you made it your own!
Love Explains It All, but my favorite track is def Roll To Me.
@@benrogers3734 Roll to Me is sooooo good!
One of my favorite songs, thought it couldn't get any better but here we are
Alex, another jam that is freaking fire bro! Make a trip to Sacramento sometime and there's a beer on me.
I was genuinely expecting "This is the story of a squirrel!"
This is so so good. You capture the Tom/Mark/Travis vibe so well on all the instruments. The little mini bass solo when everything else drops out is chef's kiss!
Let’s goooo love ur blink 182 style songs
Proper cover. Well done sir.
My favorite genre is Alex Melton's "If Blink 182 Wrote..."
Being this good at every instrument must make it incredibly difficult to want to play with anyone else.
Never noticed how clean Blink guitar tones are, but you’re right.
Once again you’ve done it. You took a great song and made it even better!
These are awesome man. ! If Mark ever needs a fill in I mean...
Me in 2010 downloading this song from a dubious site genuinely thinking it was a blink song
o0o0oo I love all these "If Blink-182 wrote" covers.
Absolutely a banger once again. You always kill it with these "if Blink-182 wrote..." covers.
Saw your stuff pop up after searching TH-cam for Blink stuff. Huge fan now! So talented
I LOVE ITTTT. this was one of my favourite songs back in the day and hearing it brand new like this brought the biggest smile to my face. THANK YOU
rip camera at 2:19

Only just coming across your content right now!!! You're an amazing talent!!!! Keep up the incredible work!
Great cover, nice instrumentation section!!!
You nail that Bilnk 182 style, love it!
Favorite cover so far.
If I close my eyes I can pretend that Blink actually covered this, great job!
dude once again this is on point! Keep it up!
Been waiting 9 days for this to drop
My ear is so confused lol. This is fantastic!
This is so good that it’s got to count as original in its own right.
If anyone is looking to make nice sounding recordings with an e-kit like Alex does with his Roland, I've had a ton of fun using the DTX series from Yamaha. The silicon heads are 10/10

LOL nice cover!! Alex Melton you nailed it
For years I had an old red mp3 player with song on it and the file was formatted as Story_of_girl (blink182)
Clicked thumbs up before even listening. Epic as always!
There is just no Song that can´t be turned into a Blink Song^^ Great as always
And yet another video I am just like GD amazing and only wanna listen to this version from now until eternity! Damn good my man! Thank you!!!
Blink wishes they could make something this dynamic. Excellent job dude. Long time blink fan.
These have got to be my favorite covers ever.
You truly just nailed this!!!❤
Thank you for helping me relive my younger years Alex with a pop punk twist!
Love you Alex! Thanks for this cover. It was what my day needed ❤
This is awesome. You are ridiculously talented. Keep it up.
Do you also cut the videos?
Alex Melton is probably the coolest dude that I've never met.
So bomb!!! Love it as always!
This is an absolute banger!!!! Awesome job dude.
You nailed it! Cheers from Brazil!
I see someone finally got around to watching "Everything Everything All At Once", huh? Awesome song

Amazing as always! Suggestion - Praise And Worship version of Praise Chorus by Jimmy eat World
Had totally forgotten about this song.
