While I do think that would be awesome, if they’d do a blink so, I think “going away to college” would have to be the choice, and lends itself the best to their style and sound
Not enough recognition for how good of a drummer Alex is. Every release is a banger and it's really easy to get caught up in how good the overall composition is - but the drums on this one in particular are just so damn good. Great work, keep 'em coming!
Been watching him a long time and he got really better and it shows here and his current covers. At first I thought he seemed like he was playing it safe, but now all brakes are off. Damn amazing.
Growing up, we had Barenaked Ladies’ All Their Greatest Hits and Blink’s Take Off Your Pants and Jacket both in the CD changer on our road and camping trips, so this is pretty nostalgic for me 😂🤘🏽🖤
Same, except also a few years earlier so I had several of the individual BNL albums that formed "Greatest Hits", and some older Blink plus probably Dookie and some Less Than Jake too
I was listening to Barenaked Ladies over the weekend, thinking "Melton needs to take another stab at this catalog". So this is a serendipitous surprise! And, as usual, it slaps. Nice!
Dude BNL is one of the best bands ever. And Pinch Me is such a good soooooong! It's one of my happy feel good song. Now I wanna hear a pop punk Enid or Shoebox.
My god you guys are speaking to my soul. BNL is my all-time favorite band and just seeing some references to stuff like Enid and These Apples is fantastic. Personally, I’d like to hear him do Some Fantastic.
Do you mean happy feel good in a cathartic way? 'cause uh, Pinch Me is a straight up depression/suicide song. I mean I like it, but in a self-reflective kinda way that makes me look back on my past and feel better about where I am today.
@@Bigbadbo121 don't you listen to intense emotional song for cathasis. this is one of those walking the tightrope of life songs and definitely makes me reflect. Steve and Ed are fantastic songwriters in that they are able to convey a lot of heavy emotion in such a 'carefree' tone.
@@snazzydrew Hell yeah, I do! I was just confirming that that's what you were doing, too. Maybe it's me being autistic, but it just read weird to me that the happy feel good part was all you mentioned.
Awesome cover, man. I feel like BNL's lyrics always get overlooked for how goddamn good they are. The beauty in mundanity they brought through in so many of their songs still gives me goosebumps.
Other great BNL songs to try re-flavoring: Aluminum (Aluminium) Testing 1,2,3 Take It Outside Shoebox The Old Apartment Falling for the First Time (same album as Pinch Me) They are worth seeing live, as they regularly mix things up and re-word songs on the fly, or play interesting covers of other stuff, or just go off and rap between songs... I don't think they're quite as good without Steven Page though.
Growing up, we had Barenaked Ladies’ All Their Greatest Hits and Blink’s Take Off Your Pants and Jacket both in the CD changer on our road and camping trips, so this is pretty nostalgic for me 😂🤘🏽🖤
I can't imagine how hard it is to do all this work for these videos, but I sure as hell hope he feels accomplished afterward because it always kicks ass.
nostalgia overload... this is the perfect mix of my awakening individual taste as a 10-13 year old listening to local rock stations and scouring napster for downloads of what i heard.
Alex you are an incredible musician. The technicalities and details in your drumming is especially impressive let alone the rest of the instruments that you've mastered. Great music!
At parts it kinda reminds me if you did If Blink Wrote Kiss Me by Sixpence None The Richer. Next cover, perhaps? Great stuff! Can’t wait for your album!
This is awesome! In the form of one of my favorite bands of all time doing one of my favorite songs of all time! Truly a gift from the gods! Keep up the good work Alex!
I may just be chronically nostalgic, but pretty much every Alex Melton cover makes me cry pretty hard. Not in a bad way. They rock, but whew, that pushes some kind of button…
I already forgot how long have I have been watching you play. And the more you do the more you are becoming my Dream of one-man-band. I have been dreaming this thing that you are doing right now and you kept showing me that it is possible. thank you Alex for being my beacon of hope.
Been watching you for a while and love your covers. Your drumming is out of this world and made better by the emotion pouring out of you 👍. Your happiness playing is always such a lift. Keep playing forever 😊
AS a drummer I'm always amazed at how good your drumming is. Your technique is a bit unorthodox, but it's only fitting considering the Travis Barker influence. Love your vids, bro. Eddit - Ending of this is so good. I just keep listening to it over and over. It went from Blink to Emo real quick lol.
Oh my god this song meant the world to me back in the day, my brother had a BNL best of CD and this song activated unseen parts of my brain (the depression parts)
i think this is one of the ONLY songs where it doesn't sound too much like blink (outside the instrumentals). but i think that's because of the song itself. however, this cover is AMAZING, whether it does or not. keep doing your thing man!
I haven’t kept up for a long time, i rarely go on youtube anymore and i immediately clicked this as soon as i saw it. I also i wonder what happened to if Blink 182 wrote No Scrubs.
Not taking anything away from celebrities, let’s say Dave grohl, and the talent he has, however this guy is on another level. Even if this guy doesn’t write original music, in a way he’s making them his own which to me is like creating original songs What an ear and execution for music
I feel like a BNL version of "What's my Age Again?" would be awesome as well
Yes please!
Someone show this to BNL
That'd be amazing!
While I do think that would be awesome, if they’d do a blink so, I think “going away to college” would have to be the choice, and lends itself the best to their style and sound
I Miss You would be their sort of style. It could be in the style of songs like Call and Answer or When I Fall.
Wake up babe, the new Blink Naked Ladies song is out!
182 Naked Ladies!
Blink Naked L82
Bare Naked Blinkies
Bare naked 182
Blink, Naked Ladies
He literally never misses. It's incredible.
This is so good it's not even right. The ending is amazing.
Nah, this is a swing and a miss mate.
Doesnt match the right energy or vibe.
That "underwear" line kinda makes this a pseudo-Blink 182 song in the first place, honestly. Fantastic job, man.
Since the song's about depression, I've always taken it as someone attempting to make a half-hearted joke to hide how they're feeling.
I didn't know I needed a sequel to your "One Week" cover, but I'm loving it
it's been

Was scrolling through the comments just to make sure someone else realized this. I agree! He nails it!
Even crazier when you know it's his primary instrument.
He's such an incredible drummer and he just keeps getting better
THIS
Been watching him a long time and he got really better and it shows here and his current covers. At first I thought he seemed like he was playing it safe, but now all brakes are off. Damn amazing.
Would love to see The Old Apartment!
Yeeeeeessssss.
came to post this

The actual guitar riff to Pinch Me is really oddly satisfying to play, one of my favourites. Great song choice and rendition Alex!
Awesome cover, man. I feel like BNL's lyrics always get overlooked for how goddamn good they are. The beauty in mundanity they brought through in so many of their songs still gives me goosebumps.
Damn man, I ADORE that drum speed change for the chorus, it opens up the feel of the track each time it happens.

It’s like you live in my playlist. This is like the 4th or 5th time you’ve covered a niche song I started listening to again🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
BNL is niche? I'll go and hang out in my niche nook. BRB.
@@LizT-qx3xl Pinch Me in particular?
OK, yes. Now do "All the Small Things" as vintage BNL. COMPLETE THE CIRCUIT.
What?? WHAT?!)!! A cover of one of my favorite overlooked (kinda) BnL songs ever? I did not know I needed this but holy HELL!!! ❤
BNL are overlooked these days in general. But they have so many hits that are just too much fun.
Growing up, we had Barenaked Ladies’ All Their Greatest Hits and Blink’s Take Off Your Pants and Jacket both in the CD changer on our road and camping trips, so this is pretty nostalgic for me 😂🤘🏽🖤
A gift from the Gods!
This is one of my favourites from BNL as well :). Doesn't get the love it deserves.
OAK CITY SKATE SHOP!! Love to see it.
Incredible cover as always.
Came to the comments for Oak City!
To me its 80% blink, 20% Four Year Strong and I love both those bands :). Excellent cover, as always!
The most Warped Tour song ever made. You, sir, are a musician haha
This will be reallllly nice in your next Blink 182 radio power hour setlist
Take Off Your Pants and Jacket (But Not a Real Jacket, That's Cruel)
I was so ready for that underwear line!
Same
Was kinda hoping he would sing it with the Tom DeLonge signature nasal voice
Incredible. Undeniable. Massive, massive BNL fan, but this song doesn’t even “feel” like a cover-just a dope pop-punk song.
More like old Four Year Strong, but im still here for it
This!
Ahhhh the drums in the first verse and first chorus!!!!!!!!!!!! chef kiss!!!!!
You're back!!
This was phenomenal. Need more covers of Barenaked Ladies songs.
Another banger, Alex! These just keep getting better and better!
Should have sang it the way Ed sings it live - "Run through the sprinkler with no clothing on" haha. I've seen them so many times.
Love it! Makes me want to hear a They Might Be Giants / Blink cover for some reason.
Dude weirdly I had the same though. Man of culture.
From their catalog or one of the cartoon theme songs? Higglytown Heroes, anyone?
@@mikesearcy9151 I pretty much only know their 90s stuff. I was thinking Birdhouse in Your Soul or maybe even Particle Man? 😂
@topherken those are two gerat ones. Ana Ng would be solid, as well. Also, I love you for psychological reasons is another good one.
This is awesome! Instant nostalgia, I remember way more of the lyrics than I expected to.
I can't imagine how hard it is to do all this work for these videos, but I sure as hell hope he feels accomplished afterward because it always kicks ass.
"Perfect" by Simple Plan is begging for you to Blink them 🤘
Keep up with to blink covers! They are always bangers
Perfect, two of my favorite bands! Can't wait to see BNL again here in Columbia October 17th.
Yes back with BNL! 🎉 love these dude!
Much love from canada
Nostalgia + better version = me happy.
nostalgia overload... this is the perfect mix of my awakening individual taste as a 10-13 year old listening to local rock stations and scouring napster for downloads of what i heard.
Chorus reminds me of Third Eye Blind, Blink 182. What a combo
Alex you are an incredible musician. The technicalities and details in your drumming is especially impressive let alone the rest of the instruments that you've mastered. Great music!
Best covers around, I’d love to see you live someday! 💯
Loving the Oak City Skate Shop tee! The cover and the shirt is complete nostalgia in the best way.
At parts it kinda reminds me if you did If Blink Wrote Kiss Me by Sixpence None The Richer.
Next cover, perhaps?
Great stuff! Can’t wait for your album!
Ooh that would be good.
This is awesome! In the form of one of my favorite bands of all time doing one of my favorite songs of all time! Truly a gift from the gods! Keep up the good work Alex!
This might be my favorite one. Genuinely don't know of any other time when I listen to music I just sit here and smile.
this style of music reminds me of a time where I actuality felt things
Seen BNL live half a dozen times now. They are brilliant and this is a favourite of mine. But I do like your cover.
THAT OAK CITY SKATE SHOP SHIRT GOES HARD!!!!!!!! LETS GOOOOOOOO
Never misses, especially when combining two of my favourite bands.
Bare Blinked Melties for the win
I may just be chronically nostalgic, but pretty much every Alex Melton cover makes me cry pretty hard. Not in a bad way. They rock, but whew, that pushes some kind of button…
Your covers and experiments are so good that they're better than the originals
I already forgot how long have I have been watching you play. And the more you do the more you are becoming my Dream of one-man-band. I have been dreaming this thing that you are doing right now and you kept showing me that it is possible. thank you Alex for being my beacon of hope.

I now desperately need a Pop Punk version of "If I had $1,000,000." Like 2x speed, insane harmonies, the works
("But not a real green dress - that's cruel.")
We wouldn't have to eat Sombrero (But we would!)
this is one of my favorite barenaked ladies songs and an underrated one at that i think. this cover is very cool!
looking forward to downloading it on itunes....
This man and men like him are making my teenage years fresh and new! I love it!
Well, off I go to listen to this 14 consecutive times tra la la
AS a drummer I'm always amazed at how good your drumming is. Your technique is a bit unorthodox, but it's only fitting considering the Travis Barker influence. Love your vids, bro.
Eddit - Ending of this is so good. I just keep listening to it over and over. It went from Blink to Emo real quick lol.
This is awesome. Love BNL, love this song, and your take (as Blink) is really, really good.
One of my favorite tunes from this era of my life. Amazing work as usual. 🤘
Yesssss! My favorite BNL song in my new favourite style!
Another banger from the of Blink series. Please release a full album or twenty of these for us to buy!
Oh my god this song meant the world to me back in the day, my brother had a BNL best of CD and this song activated unseen parts of my brain (the depression parts)
Honestly can’t imagine how you keep making these amazing covers.
Absolutely incredible outro
This needs to hit Spotify yesterday!!!❤
This song was everywhere on Canadian radio around 2000-2001
BNL is amazing!!! Very underrated.
The minute I saw the name I heard exactly how that chorus would go.. the song really does have a Blink cadence. well done as always..
I *love* this song, this version is such a great nostalgia collision :D
This is freakishly good
Nobody better at doing covers and reimaginings. Keep up the good work man, ripped this 10 times straight today on a drive.
As a BNL fan, this is an amazing cover. You've kept the feel of the song and just sent it into orbit. Keep going! "underwear" hehehe
Freaking nailed it🤙🏻
The would needs a male country cover of Paramore "that's what you get" PLEASE!!
Another BNL cover! This is why I love you!
Great cover, I found you from the one week cover and this is even better!
barenaked ladies got some jams for sure. its fits so well.
It's the change ups for me. Thanks for this, Alex. Keep it up brother.
Also need a If Blink 182 Wrote a Post Malone song.
Respect for the Buffy the Vampire Slayer guitar slides. On point!
This is my favorite cover youve ever done man
This is so freaking impressive. Awesome job
Love that initial off time drum lick
One of my favorite BNL songs gets a Melton cover! Heck yeah!
Absolutely incredible!!!
Always love seeing these - so interesting!
I would say this reminds me of all time low or yellow card. Either way it’s a great remake.
I've been waiting for another BNL cover since you did One Week and once again you CRUSHED IT
You did not disappoint with the 50 seconds of post-"woo" fire at 3:24.
Thank you for blessing us today with this, love it.
i think this is one of the ONLY songs where it doesn't sound too much like blink (outside the instrumentals). but i think that's because of the song itself. however, this cover is AMAZING, whether it does or not. keep doing your thing man!
Literally my two favorite bands when I was like 12 mashed together
At 2:56 I was expecting half time drums, but you went and halfed the half time. I love it, man! Freakin awesome!
that solo was the thing i didn’t know i needed today ❤
HOW?! JUST HOW?! ...@alexmelton you keep lightin' fires!!! 🔥🔥🥰
10 seconds in I was hooked! Well done!
