If Old Blink 182 Wrote "One More Time" (A Blink Eras Montage)

- Aside from my shoddy green screen experiments, I absolutely LOVE how this arrangement came out. So many fun easter eggs from so many of their different eras. I decided to only stick to the Mark Tom and Travis (and Scott) albums, because they have the most distinct character to me, and I know them the best. Hope you enjoy. Blink are back, baby!

Listening to this for the 100th time I can easily say: it's better than the original and probably the best work you did covering blink 182 so far. This is FREAKING AWESOME!
Dude... this is awesome. Blink would be proud.
They should be watching him
Definitely!!
@@johncostello4565Mark has tweeted about his channel once.
honestly im amazed he nailed it has the right notes with the same old nostalgia
I came to say the same thing!
Jesus Christ… I would say that you are crazy talented but this is so much more than that. I’m a 38-year-old guy sitting here with tears in my eyes. The song itself is so powerful but the musical walk through the park of my youth that you created literally moved me to tears. Happy tears. Emotional tears. This is art, brother. This is beauty. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Yes!
38 years with happy years as well. I’ve listened to this prolly100 times now. It’s awesome. Sounds perfect
Tears*
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”2
38, me too, the blink song brought me to tears, this one made me smile. its strange how its so different is people. Thank you once more
I just saw 30 years of my life pass before me in one song. I am a 40 year old man who is currently crying like a kid. You're a genius man ! Thank you for this masterpiece.
I’m 40 as well. Couldn’t have said it any better. Just incredible.
39 in a month, same... grew up on blink especially and they will always have a special place in my heart..
Im 33 greetings from Bolivia.
Your drum skills are what make these sounds so authentic.
you totally right, it's the same constant little changes and crazy fills that keep it so interesting. Only recognize it now you said it, crazy 😅
Don't forget his Tom accent!
Went from Scott to Travis real quick.
I agree, and the hardest part to get right!
Is this guy actually doing all of the parts? Some legitamatly sound ripped. Like Mark's vocals from the original song sound like they were used on here.
The fact that you created a version of this song and divided it into smaller versions each to perfectly represent Blinks sound from each album is nothing short of amazing!
Oh and he did the entire composition, recording, mixing & editing and released it in 7 days....
PERFECTLY correct
All it takes are a few small things to make something great.
Wtf is "wrong" with you?! It's amazing
I am absolutely fascinated how you blended 30 years of a bands musical evolution into one cohesive track. Thats pretty incredible in its own right.
I DIDN'T EVEN REALIZE THIS! I was just coming vibing with the track. I had to play it again to notice he switched styles with every album!
Praise Jesus Christ and the gift of music and people and reconciliation and MGK and Travis sparking a revolution and I and the health system improving for all to LOVE GOD!
Love it!! ❤❤❤
Spot on. Amazing deconstruction of the band
Wow dude. Absolutely amazing !
The "I Miss You" part. *chefs kiss*
0:31 That Little "Go!" followed by the Enema segment was perfection.
It hits me everytime 💛
How are you always so good at getting every single nuance of old blink in one song? Ridiculously impressive.
If you really love the sound of a band and listen to it so much for years you addapt the sound a little
Because Blink is the most generic, predictable songwriting in the history of music
It's not Generic, Maybe for modern punk standards thy have there typical old school 90's punk sound, As far as the riffs go sure it's sound is Simular, But to write songs whyle having the same sound over the years is not generic or predictable song writing. You're playing punk rock not progressive metalcore, Ofcourse it's gonna sound simpel and predictable, My bet is that you also play an instrument and you can tall it's simpel, Somethimes we have to take a step back and appreciate the vibe of the song and embrace the beauty of Simplicity @@AmandaRaeGA
@@AmandaRaeGAit’s punk, moron, the most paint by numbers genre in existence. You can’t name one punk band that doesn’t fit the description. They’re more musically talented than many “great” punk bands. It’s not like the Ramones were musical geniuses either.
@@kenshi4296I play an instrument, thrash and groove metal mostly. That said, the simplicity doesn’t make it bad, just more accessible. It’s more the clean vocals that led blink to stardom. Travis is killer on drums. That’s punk in a nutshell, right? Compelling or funny lyrics over hollow sounding bass and twangy guitar, with killer fast intricate drums.
Bro how are you so talented? Covering a song is one thing, but covering a song using every era of the band's sound and managing to make a completely different, coherent song that still sounds exactly like them is next level.
yea this is kind of wild. I think laymen always forget that people really know certain topics inside and out
Talented but still in a humble way . Keep it up bro
@@ReyAvenueOfficial This is the way.
Wish this masterpiece was on Spotify
It's quite funny, you can download it and take it with you xD

1:20 Anthem Part Two
1:28 I Miss You
1:47 Down
2:06 Violence
2:25 After Midnight
2:34 Ghost On The Dance Floor
I probably missed a LOT more but these were the easter eggs I could hear
0:00 I think is a nod to Touchdown Boy. Or Boring? The first minute also has parts very reminiscent of Apple Shampoo. There’s definitely a bunch of blink stylizing throughout this haha, some are likely not even direct references.
0:51 the guitar in the background is playing a melody that’s similar to “let’s start over” in I Feel So by Box Car Racer. Don’t think it’s supposed to be a direct reference, moreso reflecting a style change that happened in Enema of the State
My favorite thing to listen to is the drums, as they have the most clear style changes across the blink discography
This is great work mate! ❤
0:30 Aliens Exist
I think.
Definitely has Feeling This between I Miss You and Down.
This should genuinely be included in the album as bonus track.
This feels like an end credit song for a movie tbh
Love what you did on the guitar when he said "I miss you" definitely really clever! Lol
My immediate reaction was “AND I’M SO SOWRRY”
Where r youuuuuhuuu
01:25 ?
I'm honestly surprised blink didn''t do that in the original version, it seems like a relatively obvious nod
If you notice in Blink’s video, that line was said at a point that mimicked the video for “I Miss You”. Maybe that was their nod!
If this was on spotify I'd listen to it every day.
This is REAL talent. Just as many goosebumps from this variation as I got from the first listen of the blink released version.
Their version was an exercise in healing. This version is if they never broke up in the first place
Seriously though, both of them are incredible
This comment made me WEEP 😭
I hope Mark, Tom or Travis sees this. What a tribute man. You could almost remove the green screen and you could name the era with how absolutely amazing this was.
My exact thoughts. You can hear the eras change and he did a phenomenal job. Well done Alex. I hope the boys see this.
Am shaking and melting, dude please cover full band neck deep wish you were here tq
This single song just blended a lifetime of nostalgia for me.
Have you actually watched the official video? There's a bunch more nostalgia on the backdrops.
damn straight, the intensity of emotion I cant say I have felt since I`ve grown older, its weird how it just floods back with familiar music like this.
The subtle guitar riff from "I miss you" when the verse starts with "I miss you" is brilliant! ✨
WHAT!?!?!? That is BRILLIANT. Someone HAS to ger you and your mix in front of the band. This is BRILLIANT!!! What an incredible, tour worthy rendition!! Just WOW! For the 1st time in yrs, TH-cam recommendations brought something remarkable. Congratulations, truly incredible work. Truely
This is the internet... odds are, they've heard it already
FYI, this guy always has great videos. He loves Blink, but he covers millions of other songs too (and has some of his own), and will do unique renditions of them (like if a certain Blink song became a country song, or if a certain country song became a Blink song, or if a certain song was played at a slower - or faster - pace to give it a different vibe, etc.). He's super talented and creative.
Welcome to Alex Melton aka the GOAT of youtube music covers. He has plenty more where this came from!
The way you transitioned into the Self titled era using the words “I miss you” was done so well !!!! You’re so talented man ✨
This is Blink's new song brother. Go watch the music video, it's amazing.
That’s how the song goes lol
@@M3M3D14 You don't get his point. He is refering to the musical transition using a reference.
Yeah at 1:28 after he sings "I miss you" you can hear the guitar from the background playing something similar to the original song.
He’s absolutely tearing the drums apart 😂😅you actually define the meaning of a one man band. Rock on good sir.
Holy shit dude. This is exceptional on so many levels. Even the different production you had on the drum sounds for the self-titled album section to make them sound more spacious. An absolute triumph 👏🏻
I’m going to watch just one more time…
And how many times has it been now?
@@Lady_dromedayou miss the joke
@@rafaelrolino i realize that now 😅
😂😂😂😂 bravo.
This dude has mad chops in every thing. Like you typically see a great guitar player who can't sing, or a great bass player with minimal drum skills, or any combination of the like. This dude legit holds his own on every instrument, and vocals, and arranging/songwriting. He's like a musical polymath
He's also a producer.
Is it this easy to fool normies??
One man band
I'm SCREAMING!! WHAT IS THIS INSANE SORCERY!!!?? JESUS!
This one truly shows how deep your love and respect for Blink runs. Amazing work man.
Aren’t they technically “old Blink” now 😜
You killed this cover!!
Yeah they’re “old Blink” now. Better call them Blink then…
With the two new songs they put out, it truly is old blink at this point. Like, to the point of bringing friends who loved blink, loved each other, but fell apart for one reason or another, back together. blink did something magical with this song.
Yea, more like "Middle era blink" .. old blink is Buddha, Cheshire cat and Dude Ranch. However, excelent job!
@@felixuy87I think he means they are all old.. Lol
Vocals, Drums, Bass, Guitar(s), Timing, phrasing, tone. all amazingly on point. this guy should mix the next Blink 182 LP. awesome
Was thinking the same thing!
1a
I'm sorry but this is canon now
This was neat - I would've loved to hear more drastic changes in the guitar tone / effects throughout the albums (Enema always had a really shiny sounding guitar tone and general mix compared to the rest imo, and the self-titled album had an often-heavier or even crunchier tone) and I would've loved more ride bell and hat fills during the TOYPAJ section. The Neighborhoods section was cool to see. Man, I love that album.
Very good feedback, thanks for taking the time to share
This is the kind of detailed and constructive criticism I love to see, incredibly rare to read a comment from someone who actually knows what they are talking about.
God, I love the heavy crunchy guitars on the self titled album. I really hope this new album evokes that sound more.
I also love Neighborhoods, my second favorite album of theirs.
As a counter point, I feel as if Alex didn't want such jarring transitions and more so wanted something that sounded like a song w/ nods to different generations. Would be interested in hearing both versions though!
The guitar tone on Enema and TOYPAJ is god like thanks to Jerry Fin producing those albums. He was incredible at getting an amazing guitar tone and it's not easy at all to replicate that tone.
@@TopDogRL I had considered this when leaving the comment, that maybe this was the intent too, which is cool! This comment was just me stating my preference :)
Mark, Tom and Travis need to see this video and let you hop on stage at least once on tour. This sounds like everything from Dude Ranch and Enema of the State. Having listened to this song on repeat since it was released this song pays homage big time!
This is the ultimate Blink 182 tribute 🔥💯
the drumming is top level here. awesome cover friend!!!!
Alex, you just did this song the justice it deserves. This one is for the OG fans. Thank you.
Holy shit, dude! You really killed this one!! Any blink fan looking back into your childhood after hearing this, This Is IT. The best childhood ever!
You weren’t there for the 80’s if blink was your childhood, you missed the best time in music to be a kid. That said, when Blink came out it was a shot in the arm for Pop Punk.
I hope Blink sees this. This is so good Alex! One thing is suggest - your drummer needs a million tattoos and no shirt 😂
He just need a thousand tattoos. No big deal 😂
Didn’t like this comment to keep it at 182 😏
Thank you so much for creating this absolute masterpiece on par with anything blink have ever given us. Absolutely hero
2:41 ALRIGHT ALEX DANG
Yo I didn't know YuB watched this. You should make more Blink-182 covers. Something from Dude Ranch. Love your content!
the last yubreddit vid he did in the backyard (backyard gang btw) he did a cover of feeling this but it was about memes and stuff@@Xman_0957
of course you saw this. also yub i love you. thanks for the help over the years if you see this
As a musician for 25 years man this dude is fire
Oh. My. God. You never miss. This manages to capture the emotion of the song and the joy of hearing it in all the different Blink styles. You just rock. Hands down.
Very well done. I bet even Blink 182 would be impressed with this - it sounds just like Blink doing this 20 years ago. Amazing!!!!
Holy shit dude. Nobody said make 5 versions of the song, each one equally amazing. Incredible.
This is really impressive mate, how you've gone through the Eras perfectly, with the song tempos, and the guitar riffs fit with each era perfectly
Alex, that was amazing. I was listening to the original last night and wanted someone to do a cover but in retro blink style. Now I have both versions for my playlist
Glad you included at least one album with Scott’s style drumming. It’s crazy to hear the transition from his to Travis’s style.
Need to start a petition to get a Blink to have Alex open at least one show.
The effort to the music video too! With all the different backgrounds like blink, love it man!! 🎉
I was trying to figure out which era each part of the song showed, then I realized it was on the background of the drummer. This is awesome.
Old blink but with modern recording tech. Great cover!
It's amazing how it marks every style of each album in every part of the song, the images behind the albums tell you what sound style it's playing, depending on the era of each album. Something incredible.
This is just incredible. I have no words for how good this is. I genuinely hope blink sees this. It's just perfect.
It's supremely rare that a cover is on par or better than the original. Hurt, The Sound of Silence, Zombie and this are examples in this elite category. This is EPIC. Well done man.
bad wolves cover is shite and does not surpass the original.
From a 20 year Blink Fan, This is Absolutely Amazing! You Nailed everything, the styles and details. Thanks for making this Masterpiece! 👏 👏 👏
What makes this so awesome is the fact it's their NEW song -- which is a sentimental tribute to each other - played old school BLINK-style. It ticks all the boxes. Amazingly well done, my man!
Blink should have played it the way Alex does. This sounds a billion times better then that autotuned to death poppy crap they put out
@@Nerff554mate that guy has auto tuned his vocals the whole song
@@donshlugga5900 Pitch correction doesn't mean you have to sound like a robot. It can be done tastefully.
this is absolutely unreal. definitely one of the coolest covers i’ve ever seen on youtube. so cool how you incorporated the different blink eras. you’re an inspiration homes
Been racking my mind on who blink182 sounds like now???
Great job! Knew I wasn't alone in craving this sound😂
Bro, this isn’t just 100% accurate…it’s 100% a banger. Well done.
Many artists now are coming out with acoustic versions of their singles... It would be sick if Blink did the opposite and came out with a heavy version of One More Time. Solid work Alex!
These drum fills are sick. I never get tired of watching you play as Blink.
Ok, clicked on random video cause it was 6am.... DAMN GLAD I DID!!!!!!! Started with 1000 miles and got here and found you on spotify. Damn good!!!!! Can't wait to hear more!
The drumming parts from the untitled section are absolutely perfect. So accurate.
I genuinely have no idea how you get this stuff done so quickly - absolute fair play, mate 😂💥
Bro normies are wild with this praise
When you said "Old" blink you weren't kidding! Fantastic as always!
It didn’t sound much like Cheshire Cat.
Have you people ever listened to Blink? Does fast drums mean dude ranch? Is it that easy?
Dare I say it, this is how blink should have done it. Nice work dude, this is awesome
Absolutely SPOT on. Blink is ALL I listen to and you got every era PERFECT.
The moment this song dropped I just KNEW Alex Melton's next video was going to be something along the lines of 'One More Time But It's Old School Blink"
Holy fuck dude. This shit needs to blow up. Perfection 🔥
I love how he was acting like / mimicking Travis at the very end of the video. Flawless execution and song! Well done!
I was so upset when I first heard this song because it was so slow. It's good, but c'mon, I wanted Blink 182. And then, Alex drops this. Thank you! This has to be one of your best works so far.
Incredible..
These covers are not just cover.. completely changes every cover. New guitar, New bass, New drums. All new music.
That is bloody talent.
Outstanding.
And this cover is bloody awesome. 🔥🔥👏🏻👏🏻
Bro this song hurts me so much.
This song came out when we lost our friend. Two/three days before the last time we saw him in the hospital.
One of his favorite nands was Blink. Wish he got to hear this and the original.
You did this song justice. 100%
Not to take from you but to relate to what you are feeling, I lost my little bro a few weeks ago. We were close and grew up with Blink. It really hits HARD when you are grieving. Not even in a bad way, though it does hurt, it's almost addicting to put on repeat for me.
@@matthewpresley8060brother, loop that shit. He’s alive in your heart, and I know you hear him singing along when you blast it.
This needs to be released.
As a Blink fan from years ago, all I have to say is: thank you. This is gold 💯👌🏻 brilliant 🍾😎 let's say cheers for that!
Man, I hope the band sees this! This sent me back to high school. Killed it!!
Wow! What a cover! I can't say more than what has already been said in the comments. I, too, hope the band sees this and appreciates the time and care you put into this.
i love this more than the original and its 1 guy doing everything instead of 3 guys and a crew of engineers and techs. just simply phenomenal. i hope Blink sees this and starts incorporating a faster-paced sound into live performances of this song. i started crying when the half time came in for the take off your pants and jacket part. you truly are amazing Alex and for the sake of nostalgia, please dont ever change!
That was amazing. You clearly have a deep understanding of their music and are very talented
This sounds more Blink than Blink. Well done, sir.
Everything about this is perfect. Completely nailed the "old Blink 182" sound and vibe. Almost forgot that I was listening to a cover.
the smell, the rythm, the double voices, EVERYTHING
DUDE....this sick!! #Blink182 would be proud bro! I am very pleasantly surprised 🔥
Alex once again proving to be my favorite music follow on TH-cam. The skill and understanding to pull this off within a week of the song releasing is phenomenal. Always a pleasure. Great job.
Geez you replicate Blink's musical structure better than any other artist.
The two videos I come back to the most frequently are this and the Anderson.Paak tiny desk.
This is simply awesome! I think you know blink 182 better than they know themselves
Seems impossible that one person could produce a cover that captures so much feeling and sounds more like the band than they originally did, but Alex done that here perfectly. Kudos to you brother. Definitely listening to your cover from now on
BRO WHY DOESNT THIS ALEX HAVE MORE SUBSCRIBERS??? THIS IS GOLD!
Let me introduce everybody to the undisputed master of pop punk. This dude kills the genre from every aspect
I really loved this new song when Blink came out with it but WOW. You really outdid yourself with this one, it sounds so good!
Even more GOOSEBUMPS than when I heard the original.. you take me back in time ! Wow magic stuff right there
Holy smokes man! I love the original but this blows that out of the water! Seriously, incredible job man! As a drummer myself, I have to say that you KILLED them drums! Super talented! Keep having fun bro. This shit is beyond incredible. I hope Blink sees this video 💯🔥
The drums are so on point for Trav's "sloppy" style ❤🔥

Let’s hope Tom never leaves again, but if he does they don’t need Matt because they could have you!
I have a alkaline tattoo and agree
This will be their last album
1:30 an iconic rhythm of I Miss You 😢 really miss the old Blink 182
Emh you can hear it in their actual song and not just this cover. You can hear it because the drums kick in with that same beat from I Miss You. The old Blink...wacky ass comment from someone living in the past.
