Guys, please dont do this. A month ago I treid this, and yes it will release it, howver it wont work as it used to. it will be really loose and is super unsafe. I just got mine fixed and it was only like $80 for each seatbelt so total of 160. I used the company safety restore. Definitely recommend them instead of this method!

somethings just off about it. i did this and its not longer locked up however, the retraction is very slow and the belt is loose. and sometimes it does lock up so i have to wiggle it around to be able to pull it again

Aren’t those ball bearings important? I can’t see this as a safety feature if parts are missing or just taken out.

the ball bearings function is when electrical signal trigger a charge that explode and push the balls to jam the sprocket but since that charge has been used it wouldn’t work again fortunately this feature is a backup safety mechanism there is other mechanisms in that seatbelt assembly

this is a seatelt racket . you can reset the pin and let it loosen and tighten with a sc. rewdriver in the top where the belt goes in. Play with it until you get it working . You can see the gears. DO NOT DO WHAT THS GUY DOES>..

you took out the main locking system - that is not safe for the passengers | that is not a fix

Yeah......no thanks. Doing janky crap with power window motors is one thing. Something that keeps me from dying, I am willing to actually repair it the right way or just buy a new one (so I know someone hasn't done something like this to one I buy at a salvage yard).

Goes right back in that mold it sits in.. press against and turn should catch and that pin pops out it should sit there. I also went thru wrong side.

Good job, you just bypassed the safety crash system by removing those ball bearings. Now, in the event of a crash, the seatbelt won't catch, thus potentially causing more harm to the driver. Hope you didn't sell that seatbelt.

You dont know what you are talking about, seat belt will catch every time, when ball bearings deploy they lock the seatbelt and prevent it from releasing. But it will lock.
