A 50 min Live Jam with the Roland T-8 Aira Compact

- Ok ok ok, I admit: in my last video I really spread lots of hate against the new @rolandglobal Roland T-8 Aira Compact. And since then I asked myself the question: is it possible to make reasonable music with this thing - despite the many design flaws it brings along? To find out, I recorded this live jam - and without spoiling too much: I had a hell of a lot of fun recording it!
So please have fun with these 50 minutes, too!

A wide man once said better use a $100 volca (or in this case a T8) 100% than a $1,000 box at 10%. And you demonstrated that beautifully for 50 min. Hail to you Dirtbox!

Really really good. I’ve seen people with a room full of synths and drum machines and not do half as good. They have too much gear, they have option paralysis. That Tb3 in the T8 sounds great too.
I had planned to not get one of these because I've got a TD3, B1, RD9, and RD8, but this video is convincing me otherwise. That's a surprising amount of variety coming from that little box!

@@whatwind2089 I ended up getting it, and it's such a fun little box of sounds. I love just sitting on the couch with it and a pair of headphones just goofing off. They definitely got the fun factor right on this one.

What an awesome little box! and a great Jam, it’s like listening to different tracks being mixed together rather than a morphed track. I have been wondering whether to get another MC-101 or something else to take on holiday as my MPC Live II will be too big/heavy. For the price and functions, this will be awesome for the plane and the odd session by the pool 👍

I bought this machine on impulse. despite I own a TD-3 and RD6. I tried to sell it after the first week. Turns out this was a gear I use EVERY time now.
I basically can cary it anywhere and record stuff straight to my phone with the USB C port to Cubasis.
I can actively explore ideas on the go without being in the studio or opening my laptop.
Love it so much. I just hope we can replace the battery somehow?

Ich bin froh, dass du der Roland T-8 nach deinem ersten Frustvideo noch eine zweite Chance gegeben hast. Das Ergebnis kann sich sehen lassen. Faszinierend, was du aus der T-8 rausholst. Ich bin von meiner T-8 nach leichten Anfangsschwierigkeiten (natürlich das nervige Menu Diving! lol) mittlerweile total begeistert. Ich nutze die integrierte TB-303 übrigens nicht mehr. Da ist selbst mein Korg Volca Bass um Längen besser und evtl. werde ich mir demnächst sowieso die Behringer TD-3 MO und/oder Roland TB-03 zulegen. Was die T-8 als reine Rhythmus-Maschine anbelangt, kann ich sie nur empfehlen. Von meinen zehn Drumcomputern ist sie gemeinsam mit der Roland TR-06 mein Lieblingsgerät, zumindest was die Bedienung, den Sound und die coolen Features wie z B. Steploop und Sidechain anbelangt. Insgesamt eine coole Beat Machine, mit der man jede Menge Spaß haben kann...
Tu dir selbst einen Gefallen und kauf Rd8 und Td3 MO.

@@mareikemacinnes7764 Für mein Teil finde ich auch die T-8 irgendwie überflüssig wenn man die RD8 und 2 mal die TD3 hat. Wer will schon den xten digitalen Roland Klon haben.
Auf der anderen Seite ist es ein echt nettes Spielzeug für unterwegs.
Interessante Meinung, danke! Ich bin am überlgen mir irgendwas kleines für unterwegs zuzulegen. Hatte da bisher die TR-6S im Fokus. Die wirkt weniger spielzeughaft, aber die T-8 hat halt direkt noch die 303 mit am Start. 909, 808 und 303 ist halt meine Welt, die Originale sind mir für unterwegs //etwas// zu sperrig 🤣

Das schöne an dem Ding ist doch, dass es einen Akku hat und man so ne Jam Session auch unterwegs machen kann... zum Beispiel im Zug nach Sylt oder sowas in der Art ;-)

Das du weißt wie man interessante Jams macht sollte mittlerweile jeder gecheckt haben. Und auch diesmal hast du mit deinem Talent überzeugt.
Leider werde ich wohl nie wieder mit Drum Samples warm werden (ausser rmit denen der hoffentlich bald erscheinenden LM Drum von Behringer und der Rd9 Hihats und Cymbal Sektion) da ich mittlerweile stolzer Besitzer von Behringer Rd6, Rd8 und Rd9 bin.
Wer einmal die echten Analogen Maschinen vor sich hatte dem werden Drum Samples danach zu starr und statisch sein.
Und das sagt jemand der 20 Jahre Hip Hop Instrumental Beats mit Akai Mpc gemacht hat! ;)

@@ankechristian686 Das meinen 90% aller Leute die ACB von Roland getestet haben, schon seit der ersten Aira Serie. ;)
Ist doch gut wenn du 100% aller Leute kennst. Ich will dich auch gar nicht überzeugen, oder mit dir diskutieren. Du hast geschrieben es sind Samples und ich hab gesagt, nein, sind es nicht. Ich hab fast nur analoges Zeug hier rumstehen und ich höre keine großen Unterschied. Kann ja auch an mir liegen🥹. Alles gut. Jedem seine Meinung.
