Nice crudely old bear , best bike i ever rid in the wet so predictable you could slide it in on brakes and out on power ! but it would only do 130 .

Xs11's have always had 2nd gear issues. I got a old 1980G model. excellent bike when you get them sorted.

A mate of mine had an XS, Excess in every dimension we called it. He could get a wheelie out of it but that was a BIG old girl. I ended up borrowing it to go to the Isle of Man TT’s in 83 having T boned my GS750 into a Honda Civic the year before. Great memories, not so much the crash, that nearly killed me, but the XS. Lol.

Geez Kevin, why'd you go and wreck a perfectly good vintage Civic like that? hehehe. Glad you aren't worm food from that ordeal. Funny thing, around the same time my older brother drove what was a brand-new Civic (think his was an '81 maybe??). Anyway, funny story, he lived in Rhode Island at the time, I went to visit him driving my 1969 Chrysler 300 convertible because it was during the summer. Anyway, that's when he was buying the Civic so I drove him to the local Honda car dealer, and while he was doing his business I was out in the lot kicking tires. Sales guy made the mistake of asking me if I was interested in anything. I told him, I wouldn't drive one of these tinker toys. So he got defensive and asked, "what do you drive?" I pointed to the 300. He just walked away... True story. Cheers.

Unsure. I’m not that familiar with the model regarding mods.

Looks like oil rings lost all pre-tension and/or stem seals.

Yep. If the stem seals aren't wasted, then we'll have to pull the cylinder block and do the extra work. Either way, head has to come off. Cheers.
