So I changed the battery today. One thing I found out was that bracket with the two 13 mm screws has no role. It is not connected to the battery at all. I put the battery back in and the bracket went in the first time but I just could not put the screws back in since it kept moving all over the place. One of the screw fell and I had to the remove the heavy battery again which was really frustrating not to mention the pain of moving/aligning the positive terminal deep inside! I again tried but this time the bracket would not be in place and kept obstructing the battery position. I just left it out since if the screws falls then I got remove the battery again and again since the hand would not fit to initialize and screw a bit to start with even. I have tightened the battery terminals screws though. I hope that would be ok. Moreover the battery is heavy enough to be in place. What do you think please?

Thank you for this video. This is the last Mercedes or German car I ever buy and I will be selling it soon. You have to be an absolute idiot to think this was a good placement for a battery.
*Not all are like this lol! I have an S class and it is in the trunk. You just lift the rug and underneath where you would normally have a spare tire but more to the right!* (No need for ANY box cutters). _However, i do hear you though! This is TOTAL and ABSOLUTE MADNESS! I have an R-class as well; and i only realized this craziness one day when i had left my lights on overnight and needed a jump. So the “jumping” driver believes in putting at least one end onto the actual battery (or something like that, am a lady who has zero knowledge). Well anyway, he asked me where the battery was and I said I didn’t know lol but to try the trunk since the S-class has it in the trunk. Not a chance!_ He finally spotted the “jumping” terminals under the hood and ended up jumping it. After he was done, he told me, “I’m still kinda curious where the F your battery is, so I’ll google it because I know for a fact it is not underneath this hood or back there!” I was definitely curious as well! We found a similar vid on Ytube and our jaws both dropped to the floor. I guess he had never jumped an R-class (or M-class above!). I was like wait, whaaaaaat? He said to me, “no wonder people complain the Mercedes Benz’s repair shops cost an arm and a leg, yeah, I would charge your first born too if i had to deal with this thing on a frequent basis! This is what some genius German engineers came up with? They can keep it!” He got me cracking up and i told him he doesn’t even know the half of it! _I told him you can’t change a fluid like transmission fluid at home or even at your local Walmart on most of these Benzes! I told him you need a specific tool to pry open a little red tip. If you use just any tool to pry it off, it will break off and fall INSIDE! He said you’re kidding. I said, NO. And when you realize they did that on purpose so that you don’t mess with it and only take it to the dealership, you leave well alone even if you find it on Amazon, coz you’re sure you’ll fuqQ up and break that little red fragile tip! And don’t even get me started on how you can’t easily add something as silly as windshield washer fluid! I was thinking, why is this empty, when I first got one of them used. I looked for the thing and it’s on the grill somewhat anyway!_ *And it is not an upright container! In order to get into the reservoir, you have to go through this very narrow opening then a somewhat coiled S-tube, which then feeds into that reservoir which is like at some odd 45° angle or something like that! The moment I opened underneath the hood to try and fill, I figured out why that last owner had not bothered filling it especially if he knew he was planning on selling that car. I was unable to fill it then as well. (Had to get very creative later). I don’t even know why am on my 2nd & 3rd Benz, it’s INSANITY!*
my mercedes ml 2007 has the same battery place , i faced a problem with this , when the battery was dead i couldnt move the seat , all the electrics in the car went off , also i didnt have the tools that will help me to change the battery , at the end i took the whole car to mercedes maintenance to put a new battery , the place of battery under the passenger seat is very wrong , very hard to change by yourself , you need some expert to do it for you , if they put it in the trunk will be the best , now i discovered also that they repeated this with ml 2012 ! .

Mine is being replaced today by a local independent Benz/Lexus shop (not dealership). They quoted me $509 for both the main battery and the auxiliary battery.
@@dmvbay2535 what about labor costs?
@@GoodfellasNYC $163
@@dmvbay2535 not bad, not bad
When I started this video, I was thinking this is crazy... but actually it makes sense to help avoid premature battery aging and corrosion.
Hi - Thanks for watching! Exactly. In Europe, where this kind of battery placement started, we're told that the batteries lasted up to 4 times longer than batteries mounted under the hood.
Too bad of the battery is flat and you can’t move the chair
Hi - Thanks for watching! The memory saver will power the seat. Check out our video on memory saving. The link is in this video's description.
The Battery Shop not with my car haha tried to move seat hasn’t moved
If you didn't use another 12 volt battery connected to the vehicles jump posts (with jumper cables) we suggest that you try that.
Getting the battery out this way is basically impossible. Remove the seat if you can.
Hi - Thanks for watching and sharing your opinion!
I just done on my 2014 ML350. It is hard to take battery out (need some wiggling and pull hard) but doable. The whole job took me about 45 mins though.
You need to use a pry bar to leverage lift it up and out
Great video, easy explanation and doable......just one thing is lacking, and you know yourself "battery shop", the pain in the a** to get the old battery out, physically out. ;-)
Hi - Thanks for watching and sharing your experience!
This is a great video! And the memory keep alive is awesome. That was the one thing that was keeping me from doing it myself.
Hi - Thanks for watching and sharing your experience! We're glad the video helped.
Had a battery guy coming to check he said my battery was 600 level normally if you hit 400 you need battery replacement, atm he thinks something is leaking electricity...... Cuz I couldn't start the car this morning but now I can after a jump start and battery life is ok
ML350 about 10 years old
Hi - Thanks for watching! Based on your experience, we suggest that you check for a parasitic draw to see if that is what is causing your "leaking electricity" issue.
Thank you for this video. This is the last Mercedes or German car I ever buy and I will be selling it soon. You have to be an absolute idiot to think this was a good placement for a battery.
Hi - You're welcome. Thanks for watching and sharing your opinion!
Not a chance!_
He finally spotted the “jumping” terminals under the hood and ended up jumping it.
I looked for the thing and it’s on the grill somewhat anyway!_
*And it is not an upright container! I don’t even know why am on my 2nd & 3rd Benz, it’s INSANITY!*
my mercedes ml 2007 has the same battery place , i faced a problem with this , when the battery was dead i couldnt move the seat , all the electrics in the car went off , also i didnt have the tools that will help me to change the battery , at the end i took the whole car to mercedes maintenance to put a new battery , the place of battery under the passenger seat is very wrong , very hard to change by yourself , you need some expert to do it for you , if they put it in the trunk will be the best , now i discovered also that they repeated this with ml 2012 ! .

Thank you
Hi - You're welcome and thanks for watching!
Anyone do this or have the dealer do this without cutting the carpet?
Hi - Thanks for watching! Dealer will probably cut the carpet as it is the dealership's repair manual. There are marks on the carpet showing where to cut.
Just replaced one of these as a lube tech at toyota. I hate my job lol
Hi - Thanks for watching and sharing your experience!
You'll learn to hate ALL eurotrash vehicles. Stay at a Asian import dealer
Xin video gle 450
Hi - Thanks for watching!
I can't stress enough to make sure the seat is raised all the way up.
Hi - Thanks for watching and sharing your experience!
How can you move your chair if the battery is dead!? 😂😂
Hi - Thanks for watching! A 12-volt battery or power supply connected to the jump posts under the hood (or the battery in a memory saver) will supply the power to move the seat.
Thanks!!!!!
Hi - You're welcome and thanks for watching!
My battery is so dead it can’t be moved forward ugh
Hi - Thanks for watching! The battery in a memory saver, or a 12-volt battery connected to the "jump posts" under the hood will provide power to move the seat.
this battery weighs like a lot and gettign it out is not easy....
Hi - Thanks for watching and sharing your experience!
Looks easy, until is time to pull it out, it’s uncomfortable and heavy as heck.
Thank you for watching!
Something I love about Germans they make everything so easy to change easy as to escape to a maximum security jail 😅
That's why I love japanese cars.
Thank you for watching!
Yes good vidio
Thank you for watching!
There is a reason why I change my battery, is dead ☠️ how I remove the seat 💺? Very Bad Mercedes Benz
Hi - Thanks for watching! The memory saver's 12 volt battery will provide the power to move the seat.
