  • I've got a set of fancy new hood latches off of Amazon and I'm swapping them out with the old, faded stock ones.

    Just put new yellow ones on my jeep and it was a b***h to screw the inside ones. All these videos make it look so easy when it's not if you don't have the correct tools lol This was a good video thanks

      I cut down a 13mm deepwell socket. I live in Toledo area where the Jeep is built. Definitely need small hands.

    That one bolt that holds the bottom half of the latch pissed me off to the point I quit the installation couldn’t get that little bastard loose

      I believe it's the mood going into it. At least for me. In a hurry or already pissed off, I'll have issues.

    The two sets that you mentioned at 11:03 is not a shipping mistake. Look closely , they are imprinted JK and JL Use correct one.

    Hey! I ordered these and after about a year or so the aluminum starting wearing off and became silver in some spots. Is there any way to fix this? If I order new ones, how can I prevent this from happening again? Should I wash my car more often? Thank you!! Please let me know

    Will these latches work on a Gladiator ?

      According to the description, they will. The best part is, with Amazon, you can easily send it back for free. But the description says yes and I believe it’s the same setup on our Gladiators.

    Just did this 1-fender bolts are a bitch.cut down a 13mm deepwell socket. 2-to latch down hood is too close to the fender I'm going to install rubber spacers so I get an even fit between the hood and the fender.3- If your fender flares are painted as my Sahara is I suggest mounting more rubber as not to scratch the fuck out of your paint if they pop open and I expect they will! or when you're working on you Jeep. looks nice but would not recommend.

    That looks like a gigantic PITA to put together. Why didn't they use mounting tabs, like the originals, to keep it in place and make it easier to tighten?

    • @EvolvingMale
      @EvolvingMale  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It wasn't that bad. Just a little work

      @@EvolvingMale I decided to go with the factory JL latches, which requires of tiny bit of Dremel work on the hood holes, a little bit of Dremel work on the fender latch pins and some touch-up paint, but I will admit I do like the look of your latches.

      @@American_Jeeper jl latches are definitely a good look. My wife bought these (her jeep), so we went with that. Anything is better than stock jk

      @@EvolvingMale Amen to that. I just bought my '08 JKU (I've had a '76 CJ-5 for 10 years) and the hood flutter scared the shit out of me, the first time it happened. I don't understand why the JK doesn't have a positive latch system like the CJ does. The side hood latches are a secondary securing system.

      @@American_Jeeper that's a wonderful jeep. I had a 78 cj5 and now I have a 78 cj7. The five was betterbut I'll get this one running good some day
