    Anantara Kihavah is located in Baa Atoll, one of the most bio-diverse atolls in the Maldives, and one of our personal favorites. Baa Atoll is a UNESCO biosphere reserve that has allowed the sea life to flourish, including the nearby Hanifaru Bay, home to the largest Manta Ray feeding station in the world. The property is located a short, 40-minute seaplane ride from Male. Guests can also choose to take a domestic flight with a spead boat if the arrival or departure time is before sunrise or after sunset.
    Both overwater and beach villas offered spacious accommodations, large swimming pools and ample privacy. In neither room were we able to see other villas or people. Beach villas afford you the option to go straight into the shallow lagoon from your room, whereas, the water villas are already overwater, but will sometimes have a bit deeper water with beautiful corals to explore while snorkeling.
    The service throughout our experience was truly exceptional. Every staff member we encountered was respectful, polite and genuinely seemed to love their job. It is very clear that management is trying to craft the best guest experiences, from aerial yoga classes to impeccable spa treatments overwater and wine tastings in the underwater restaurant.
    Elegant, classic and Asian-inspired are three words that come to mind when we think about the style on property. The white and brown tones, mixed with the pops of color and modern touches make for a romantic, beachy vibe on property and it’s consistent across the board. While light touch ups and tech updates would even further elevate the style, we fell in love with the beautiful decor, personalized touches of books and magazines in the rooms and the connection to nature that is felt across the property.

We always like to say the best hotel is the one you can afford so I would highly recommend reviewing your budget and what the inclusions are to make sure you are comfortable booking :)

    I'll be going to the Maldives for the first time and this was the resort I picked after much research. I chose this place because of the SEA restaurant, observatory, and beautiful villas / bathroom. No other resort in the same price point could even compare it seems

      Hi! That’s so exciting - anantara Kihavah is by far still in our top three. It’s fantastic. The star gazing experience is excellent, SEA for dinner is a MUST. The villas are fabulous and you really can’t go wrong. Did you see our highlight on instagram for anantara? Hi there! Thanks so much for all the Maldives videos. You both have been such a great help while my husband and I plan for our trip for Winter 2023. We're highly considering Anatara Kihavah, but was wondering which did you prefer more Anatara Kihavah or Milaidhoo?

    • @VoyagerGuru
      @VoyagerGuru  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jasmyn! Thanks for reaching out!! We really appreciate your comment :) That sounds like an amazing trip you're planning!! Those are two of our favorite resorts. they're going to be a bit different - Anantara is a lot bigger and has more "action" in terms of having an underwater restaurant, lots of activities, bigger island and more people. Milaidhoo is very small both from a # of rooms perspective and island perspective. It's very quiet and focused on romance and privacy and we never really saw other people except at meals. Their champagne breakfast was spectacular. At the end of the day, it depends on what you like to do on vacation. If you want total exclusivity and exceptionally attentive service, i'd say go Milaidhoo. If you want some more action or to visit different restaurants every night and do some water sports or activities, Anantara may be better for you. I hope this helps! Let us know what other questions you have or if you need anything :)

    Grateful for the quality and excellence not only in the video quality but in the deliver of information. Quick question, how would you compare this to Miladilhoo as you also gave that glowing reviews? Thanks in advance as I'm trying to prepare a trip to the Maldives for my wife and I's 30th anniversary.

    • @VoyagerGuru
      @VoyagerGuru  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much, Matt! That means so much to us. Both are amazing choices to be honest. Milaidhoo will be a bit more secluded, romantic, small, totally obsessive service with nothing left behind. Our butler was just so incredible. Anantara will have a bit more action, the underwater restaurant and you’ll see other guests around. If you’re going for total seclusion and modern rooms, go Milaidhoo. If you’re looking for some more activities and more dining options and tours, Anantara is amazing. Hope this helps!! Let us know if you have any questions

    People say that the villas at Kihavah are better than Dhigu but I prefer the ones at Dhigu. Higher ceilings, infinity pool flushed with the sea and no wooden platform in-between. I like being in my pool and looking directly down into the lagoon. Dhigu suite also has no narrow entry hallway, and I like the bathtub and it’s view better. The water suites are also super aesthetic from the jetty and drone shots.
    I chose to stay at Dhigu for the rooms but also the perfect crystal clear lagoon. But I’m still interested in Kihavah and maybe one day I will go there too. But the next two resorts on top of my Maldives bucketlist are Soneva Jani and Joali.

    Thanks for the awesome video! My wife and I are looking at booking this exact location. I have a quick question, on the website it says daily breakfast ( I assume the buffet breakfast) and daily dinner (at select restaurants) are included and one lunch at SEA. Was that your experience and if so where were breakfast and dinner? Thanks for any help you can provide. You guys rock!

    • @VoyagerGuru
      @VoyagerGuru  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi there! Thank you so much for your comment! You are looking at a GREAT resort- one of our favorites! so good choice :). Regarding half board packages (breakfast and dinner), it includes *most* restaurants, except underwater at SEA and any of the special dining by design/ room service. Lunch at SEA is an excellent add-on so that will be fun. I would recommend half board overall, because dining can be quite expensive and this enables you to pre-pay a large amount of your vacation. Breakfast is at the same restaurant everyday, next to the pool, and is great! Lots of variety, amazing healthy options, everything there is included which is fantastic. By the way, typically anything not included on half board for dinner, like let's say a special event on the beach, you will receive a discount if you want to attend. Half board does not include alcohol, just FYI but if that's all you have to pay for, it's not so bad. Let me know any questions you have!!

    • @VoyagerGuru
      @VoyagerGuru  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bwolf240 Anytime!! Happy to answer any questions I can. The "worst" months are june and july but it can really depend on the year/weather patterns/etc. We have been extremely luck in the monsoon seasons for the most part and gotten unlucky in dry season. Great video on Anantara Kihavah. Got some questions on transportation. How long did it take (in total) to get the resort after you landed in Male? Also, how early did you have to leave the resort to catch your international flight? For example, if your international flight leaves Male at 1pm, do you have to leave the resort like 4 hours in advance?

    • @VoyagerGuru
      @VoyagerGuru  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much, Yvonne!! Absolutely - so transfers to Anantara are done via seaplane. Depending on when you land, they usually need a minimum of 45 minutes to an hour of time to ensure you make the seaplane. Seaplanes are slightly flexible so if the timing lines up and there are free seats, they try to get you on the next plane. The flight takes about 45 minutes and it's gorgeous, you may stop at other resorts along the way which is super fun. There is a great lounge at the airport for the seaplane and you have snacks, non alcoholic beverages, restroom etc so if you have to wait, it's not bad.
      The hotel will try to plan the best flight back based on your international flight, but keep in mind the last seaplanes leave before sunset so you will likely have some hours in Male before your flight if you're on one of the later flights. I would recommend an evening flight because you'll get on the last seaplane off the island, which is really nice. If your flight leaves Malé at 1, you will likely be on an 8am or 9am flight out of there. If you can, the best flight times are 7:45-9pm because you can still get away with a later flight off the island :).
      BTW- many islands run on "island time" which is a made up time that most hotels run on. They move the clock one hour ahead so you "get more daylight", but this will also mean when you leave the island, you may leave at 4pm island time, which is actually 3pm normal Malé time so end up with an extra hour at the airport.

      Hi Paula! Thanks for your comment. Yes- absolutely! We have actually met quite a few solo travelers throughout our trips to the Maldives. Anantara has a lot of activities so that could be a good option. It's definitely a very private place and it's not super "happening" in terms of meeting other people because they focus a lot of relaxation and privacy, but if you're just looking to enjoy the resort and not party or meet people, then it's a perfect place.

I know they do often offer a half-board package through their direct website, that would at least help cover some of the expense. Not quite the same as all-inclusive, but at least it's an option.
