The 1994-95 season was a banner year for television...so many classics debuted that autumn--"ER," "Friends," "Party Of Five," "New York Undercover," "My So-Called Life," "Touched By An Angel," and "Chicago Hope." Good job, RwDt09!
I enthusiastically concur, @@Realest636. 1994 was perhaps the last decent year for television, in my honest opinion. 1972 can be considered another banner year for the medium--"Sanford And Son," "M*A*S*H," "The Waltons," "Maude," "The Bob Newhart Show," "The Streets Of San Francisco," "Kung Fu," "The Rookies," and "Emergency!," all debuted that particular year. And the late Bob Barker began his thirty-five year reign as emcee on "The Price Is Right" (the late Bill Cullen, of course, had preceded Barker in the fifties and sixties). And don't forget 1974, either ("Good Times," "The Rockford Files," "Happy Days," "Rhoda," "Little House On The Prairie," "Chico And The Man," and "Police Woman" all made their respective premieres). Thanks for commenting. Enjoy your day.
Ah, this is where I REALLY started paying attention to TV and what was new and popular and all. I didn't watch them all, but I remember a lot of the theme songs and the shows. Party of Five was a big freaking deal in teen magazines because EVERYONE had a thing for Matthew Fox and Scott Wolf, and My So-Called Life set the tone for all of the Angsty Teen Stories that came after it.
Don't forget w/ PO5 the Boys went Goo Goo Gaa Gaa over Neve Campbell, for My So Called Life w/ Claire Danes and Lacey Chabert n that other show that had Jennifer Love Hewiit so yep that was the year for Teen Boys to start watching more Shows again cause not long after that a couple NEW NETS were formed more so geared towards the Teens n Young Adults that the Big 4 started to Stray away so The WB n UPN were born dude to that!
Funny. The intro music to due south is the tune that has been stuck in my for three months now. I couldnt remember where it was from till this moment. Thanks, i can sleep now.
Another excellent video, sir; all the best shows I remember, half-remember, or don't at all. Man, Fox used to hawk New York Undercover like you could buy it by the gallon.
Cosby and Jussie Smollett shows.... Yoinkz!! Some good ones in there still.... New York Undercover was a pretty cool show, Due South had its moments, I remember kinda liking Something Wilder and Friends was ok.
This seems to be right around the time networks shortened the intros on their shows for more commercial time or maybe they just sensed their audience's attention spans getting shorter. Either way it was a bummer.
“Chicago Hope” had an episode where Mandy Patinkin sang “And The Band Played On” that brought me to tears. This was a great show that got lost in the ratings war. Shame.
Chicago Hope might have had some legs if CBS hadn’t stupidly aired it directly against NBCs ER. A far superior show, ER annihilated it on Thursday nights.
I loved Due South. Great memories. 7:56 Joe Rogan in Hardball! All Our Own had 6 actual siblings acting together. Impressive. Notice also that all their names begin with a J I remember watching My So Called Life because I had a crush on Claire Danes. I didn't really get the show though 15:35 Paul Rudd!
To this day I wonder who the hell had the idea to schedule two medical shows against each other...thank God CBS moved CHICAGO HOPE to Monday so it wouldn't compete directly with ER...liked CHICAGO HOPE better but ER got the last laugh, so to speak, because it lasted like twice as long
Actually that was on the Boys side as Courtney was coming off her high from her Stay on Family Ties, Lisa was just on Mad About You a kinda show that was what FRIENDS kinda spunoff from cause of Lisa's Ursela having a Twin Sister named Pheobe, and Jennifer Aniston the daughter of DAYS Legend John Aniston aka Victor Kirakis and that 1 movie about Camp Cucamunga. So the Girls were big stars as the Boys were more so coming from failed Spun Shows!
Omg NY Undercover! I used to watch that and had totally forgotten it ever existed! Touched by an Angel was a big deal back then Party of Five was one of my absolute favorite shows of all time My So Called Life was really good too but it didn’t last very long at all for some reason, maybe only one year Friends and ER were my moms favorite shows, she never missed them.. 😢
Great video as always. I remember liking “Me and the Boys” as a kid even though it didn’t last too long, our first peek at Steve Harvey! LOL. I remember a good portion of these shows through ads, either didn’t like (All American Girl) or didn’t get around to watching (Cosby Mysteries, Earth 2)
There must be something wrong with me. I loved a lot of 70s and 80s tv. Around 90 or 91 I noticed weird lighting, laughing at everything, boring writing, okay performers, cop, nurse and law shows over and over and I watched it anyway for some reason. I just can't get in to a lot of this stuff

Thanks for the time and effort you put in to make these videos. I have discovered so many shows that I never knew existed. I dont know if it's possible but I would like to see a video of tv movie promos, from 70s, 80s. Some of the movies are so bad, to the point where they are almost good.
A TH-cam search for them would turn up numerous such promos, just using the right keywords for what you're looking for, i.e. "tv movie promos 1970s 1980s", and you'll get something like this tinyurl.com/y3e3u3so
Good question. Sometimes an intro would include another version of the series theme, other times it would be someone's mash-up. Unless I was familiar with the actual theme/s used in a series, I would assume the theme used in a video I come across is the actual theme. I try to get it right, but on occasion there's that kind of slip-up. A quick reading from a few different sources indicates only one theme was used for the series, Closer to Free. So it looks like this one, without that theme, just slipped right past me. Unless someone else knows otherwise. For example, the original Magnum PI series in the 80s began with a somewhat different variation of its better known theme, but it lasted about 8 episodes before switching to the more familiar theme, both of which I was well aware of. That original Magnum theme could be found in my Fall 1980-81 Season That Almost Never Was video. But I guess we can wait and see if anyone else can come up with more info on the POF theme used in this video. I now suspect, though, it's a mash-up. Thanks for bringing it up, it alerts me to use the right one for when I might want to use that intro again in some other video.
I vaguely remember On Our Own as a kid, mostly remember Jurnee Smollett from Full House. Saw ads for Cosby Mysteries, never watched but the modern day jokes write themselves! 😂😂 I didn’t like All American Girl either despite watching it a couple times
Not only was "ALL-AMERICAN GIRL" unwatchable (it lasted 19 episodes), Margaret Cho practically had a breakdown over it, turning to drugs and alcohol when she tried to renew her career in stand up comedy afterwards. Fortunately, she made a successful recovery- and she's been very happy doing what SHE wants to do ever since. No more sitcoms for her.
Much like modern TV, so many shows that are just forgotten in the mists of time. I love archival TH-cam. 13:19 What even was this show? Also, aww, baby Paul Rudd.

It might be the next one I do, even if it might give me a migraine in the process. There were about 45 new series that fall on six networks and hopefully I can find the intros to all of them, but some number of them I already have. So not only would this probably be the longest video I'd create, maybe an hour in length, if not more, but it could give me a lot of headaches in dealing with the copyright infringement nonsense, which explains why I haven't put up too many post-'95 videos, because there are more blocking threats from TH-cam on post-'95 stuff than are worth dealing with. So when I feel like I'm in a fighting mood and armed with plenty of Aspirins, Fall '95 could very well be my comeback video after about a six month absence, and that'd happen hopefully sooner than later.
