Does School Really Matter?

  • Does School Matter? So many students hate school and like to point out how useless most of it is. It feels like we are only being prepared for the next step of formal education until we are put out into the job world. Technology definitely allows for an alternative path. Going through the education system is no longer necessary to make a living, and it is growing increasingly harder to maintain a fulfilling, happy life when being tied to a traditional job. Obviously, entrepreneurship is not for everybody, but it is becoming extremally easier to make online income for a living as technology changes and grows.

School ain’t worth it. I hate it and I don’t even know what I wanna do after high school. I just wanna live a simple fun life nothing else I don’t wanna make a lot of money or anything.

something you can actually consider is moving to the forest or countryside. You can live a simple life, buy or even build your own house, plant your own food, etc. You will be fully self-sufficient and not need income nor technology at all

Life ain’t gonna be fun for you without money, trust me. You need money for everything. Food, shelter etc. that’s just the truth. Everything has a price. Most people don’t even have jobs to have fun, they have them so they can afford shelter and food.

U didn't question how is he able to live like that😂 I hope u don't assume that you'll just able to live on a country side and that's it. you still needs to pay more taxes and way more expensive and your food, you always needed to drive 3 hours drive to buy yourself a food or longer. You said country side... 🤦🏻‍♀️

Maxwell definitely getting our thoughts out here 💯. I agree that school isn’t the only way to success. In this case, the saying that perfectly fits this would be, “there are many paths to the top of the mountain.” From birth we are limited to this “path to success”. Keep doing what you doing, in-fact go bigger. Much love ✌🏽

Great video! The school is the most effective way for the system to indoctrinate kids into different political sides. Most young people have a great trust for their teacher which is dangerous because the teacher doesn’t always teach you good things. Stay strong and don’t trust anyone just because they are an ”expert” or a ”teacher”.

    • @yaboijermey.07
      @yaboijermey.07 ปีที่แล้ว +6

I definitely agree with your comment. Just because they say they are a professor or a teacher or whatever they think we should just trust them. How do we know if they are really a bad person in front of a classroom. I also don’t agree with the school system, that there is only one way to success. That you need everything they teach and that you WILL use it in life. I say that is false indoctrination. Currently I’m in high school and I’m taking algebra 2, of course my teacher are going to say you need this in the further. But actually, I thought, if I would just go more down the hall to my English teacher would they know a complex algebra 2 word problem? I don’t think so 🤷🏽‍♂️. There are DEFINITELY many different ways to success.

I think school is important because it teaches you basic necessary life skills in the early years and the later years keeps your mind working hard. However, I might see future generations not being able to get anything out of school at all. I take problems with the schooling system to heart because school currently teaches me to slack on work. As a high school junior I do not see myself trusting the education system.
Its crazy to think that kids now are just given a tablet to do their work. Hell, I heard from another kid that they don't even get taught how to write because of these things (will the kids even develop fine motor skills?). If elementary kids are given tablets to do all of their work, what's the point of a teacher? The teacher is suppose to teach kids and guide them to doing their best, but instead a computer has kind of taken their place. Do teachers need to be renamed into "classroom security" because all they do is yell at students for bad behavior. How are kids going to get communication skills if they are not required to ask for help on a assignment or have to talk during school at all? I think this may make future generation of kids the most isolated yet. Don't you think that kids are going to have a heavy reliance on technology to solve all of their problems? Technology can improve grades because all kids have easy access to technologies like Google and AI, but I find that this encourages kids to not memorize classroom material and encourages kids to work less in school thus making grades inefficient.
At my school, if you do not complete a assignment you are given a 50%. This was introduced during Covid-19, but it seems to be a rule that will stay. Teachers at the school have gotten up and asked about it, but the only response is that the rule is here to stay. Not only are my parents told via grades that I am working twice as hard then what I am actually doing, but this grading system has misinformed me on how I am doing at school as a whole. If this grade handicap was to suddenly be removed, I would instantly fail all of my classes on the spot due to my heavy reliance. Changing the grade system so that all I have to do are tests just encourages me to do no classwork and cheat on tests. Hell, a kid who sits next to me in class is getting better grades than me because he hovers his phone over the paper and it does the math for him. What is even worse is that these apps are free to get the answer but have a paywall for getting the steps for learning how it got the answer.
At the end of the day I have a passion for hating school, but that was kind of the point of school. School teaches you important life skills when you are young and teaches you to work hard as you get older, but more important is we should be forced to work hard. Future generations of learning may have all the resources to do well in school, but there is no one there to ensure that they are learning the material or trying their best.
Edit: I have also seen a trend amongst my classmates that the more negligent their parents are, the worse they fail. I hope the schooling system or any sort of higher up government can counter the crazy amount of negligence parents the world has
"More than 1 in 17 U.S. children (6.07%) experienced some form of neglect in the past year, and more than 1 in 7 (15.14%) experienced neglect at some point in their lives. Supervisory neglect, due to parental incapacitation or parental absence, was most common."

imo yes - Sure you won't use a lot of what you learn directly in life after school, but the skills you get from problem-solving in courses like math and science, combined with time management for doing hw and studying, communication with your teachers and peers, and dealing with adversity across all types of classes are so so important in cultivating a healthy and responsible life down the road

The reason why our parents put us in school is because of it is the safest choice. And also this is also the reason why we have this mindset to not be assertive and take risk. It's a slave mindset
Me personally i find it hard to take risk. I always analyze everything to the last atom before making a decision and it's making me overthink stuff. I miss a lot of opportunity because of this. Taking a risk is really important for growth and if we stay in our comfort zone, nothing will ever grow.

Here in Cambodia students don't really care about getting the knowledge that they get from the school, middle school /high school mostly people my age are all cheated on the test, I guess they spend all the time in school just to get A and finished high school then getting the job that they don't really like, in my opinion school yes is really useful for people who have the passion to get a job related about science. But it's meaningless to continue to study and stuck with this lifestyle, I'm in 10 grade I learn nothing at all just a little bit of math and Khmer, I now just want to leave school and start making my own money , school don't teach me how to be successful and satisfied with my life etc.., I often learn it from TH-cam. Thank for all the technology that helps me with all of this

The world is too individualistic. I do want to make something of myself but not if it's at the expense of others. I'm probably gonna be an academic, because I don't know much about job skills. I’m a millennial, when I was in HS the only way to success was a University degree but I’ve noticed how they are becoming less and less valuable and your skills, work ethic and creativity and becoming more important and valuable. Everyone needs an education but you don’t need a college degree to become rich (if that’s something a person wants). Having a Bachelor degree in whatever isn’t worth shit nowadays. Many people have Bachelors or Masters but what makes someone stand out? That’s what’s really important. I’ve met many people without college degrees that have become successful and make a great living. There are SOOO many ways to become successful nowadays, that’s the one thing Gen Z got lucky with.
