I had a sodium alginate dinosaur kit and after making all the dinosaurs it came with a little plastic aquarium to keep them in. All i did was change out the water every once in a while and my little dinos were maintained and unpoped for over a year, only recently after moving states did they start breaking. They stayed partially squishy the entire time and even though they eventually solidified they stayed a dense jello texture and kept their shapes until the very end when finally they started becoming yucky and some of the smaller bits started falling off in the water.
I'm so mildly disappointed this isn't edible, it looks so tasty. I'm pretty sure kid-safe edible spherification kits are possible, I think the sushi popin cookin kit involves it. Also if you want to know what calcium chloride does to your body, the answer is basically nothing. It's just calcium and chlorine atoms, and there are plenty of those in your cells already. I wouldn't reccomend drinking the water from these kits but like,,, it definitely won't kill you, and it means that popping boba is perfectly safe.
You can also order sodium alginate and CaCl3 yourself and actually just play with the the chemistry using any liquids you want! Mango juice is a lot of fun! Looks exactly like egg yolks.
I do Popin Cookin kits all the time! The bento box and ramen kits use spherification too. ^^ The only other ones I've done were the tortes, donuts and shortcake/tea party snacks ones
I'm sure they did spherification on Australian MasterChef once, this kit is next level culinary skills! 😆 here's a general tip for using Google translate, I always find the translation turns out more correct when taking a photo of the text, then using the import option, rather than using the instant auto translate option where you point the phone at the text. I speak intermediate Japanese but I still use translate a lot for words in a text I don't know.
I vaguely remember that! The dude who pureed a bunch of peas and then used some kind of spherification technique to make the puree into pea shaped and sized balls again? I seem to remember the judges being unimpressed 😂
I could see the cooking pot being great fun in a kitchen playset, so this kit could continue to have play value even after you've exhausted all of the calcium chloride and sodium alginate!
Why'd they have to make it look like food if you can't eat it 😭 Also is it just me or are Japanese craft kits so much higher quality than American ones omg
Yes that's actually a great observation! I thought the bubbling effect was just for fun but it does seem to rotate the liquid and help the pieces release from the molds better than just holding them in the solution
hi i have a pretty random question but some stress balls have a silicone skin could you maybe try to melt the silicone and make a squishy out of it? its okay if you cant do it i was just curious if it work
It would be better to buy the silicone mix on Amazon. It’s cheap and easy to use! But it wouldn’t be squishy, that was probably some rubber type silicone for stretch.
@@howtolego1608 if you're talking abt the mochi squishies in the rare squishies video, those seem to be made from TPR (thermoplastic rubber) like other mochi squishies, which is a material similar to rubber and plastic
I recently started a TH-cam Channel and I’ve been watching you for years and you have inspired me to step outside of my crafting comfort zone! Thank you for everything you do, Joanna! ❤️Incredibly Kawaii
FINALLY I FOUND THE LINK TO THE PRODUCT!! i have been trying to find this toy when i saw mongsweet’s video on it (she is a korean art youtuber) and i was super interested in it but she didn’t include the link to the toy, so i went hunting and i still couldn’t find it and now i found a product that is similar to what i was looking for! great video as always joanna!
Really enjoy your content mam..the energy you put out into the world is so calming...lol I always kinda laugh that people like us get so geeked out and excited over this kind of topic..so yeah great channel keep doing what you are doing..
I just want to use real food gels with these molds and cooking pot. Like mango puree for the yellow, strawberry for the red, apple with green colorant for the green. At least this way it makes things edible. Double the fun
okay it has to be a trick of lighting but your right hand looks lighter than your left hand and I got so confused for a moment thinking two people were using the knife and folk xD This kit is adorable and it's always so satifiying watching you try all the things!
It needs calcium to form the membrane, so foods containing calcium or compounds like calcium chloride/calcium lactate will work. Ann reardon from howtocookthat has a good video on it called 'chocolate sphericals molecular gastronomy' and she also uses the technique to make tiny egg yolks for miniature baking videos
Unfortunately I don't think that will work. I think it depends on the calcium (spherification works with calcium chloride or calcium lactate) and sodium chloride won't produce the same chemical reaction.
Yeah, I had something similar to this when I was younger and it dried hard like glue. (But when the shapes dry out they do so unevenly and lose shape) ❤

Wow!! I had an aquarium with these sodium alginate pieces but I didn't leave them in the water long enough to see how well they hold up
@@maqaroon i had one as well! and it came with a little aquarium tube thing i still have it in my dining room!
Gross 😂😂😂 But i’d probably do the same thing.
Where can i find them?
@@the-doubting-thomas62 im pretty sure at japan toys r us? if ur talking about the kit in the vid if not then any craft store then im pretty sure

Yep it would have been amazing if they made edible versions of these! Definitely possible as so many Popin Cookin kits have that
You can also order sodium alginate and CaCl3 yourself and actually just play with the the chemistry using any liquids you want! Mango juice is a lot of fun! Looks exactly like egg yolks.
Same I so was thinking and hoping it would be. That would be so cool

i'm not mildly disappointed, i'm extremely disappointed

I imagine the bubbler in the cooking pot helps the shapes cure so cleanly since it’s agitating the water around em

Am I the only one that hasn’t seen these yet? So cute!
This looks so much like those Gracie food kits!

Silicone doesn't really melt and usually burns before it'll melt

I should be sleeping but instead I'm watching some Puniyo Puniyo cooking.
Time well spent I'd say.
I could not get this kit because the temptation to eat the final product would be too much. 😂
These bows on the pot, plates and utensils remind me a lot of Hello Kitty!
im so mad this kit isnt edible i wanna eat everything in this video
I would have loved this so much as a child
This is so cute!
your videos are always so comforting (im watching it after waking up and it’s raining)

S-so u can’t eat it :(
Thank you for cutting them instead of leaving them to dry, I'm still terrified by the crusty, dried up sea creatures 😂😂
2:50 why did this video turn to making non edible food into my chemistry class
Your videos are so satisfying to watch.
I know it's not edible but it looks so tasty 😭
Off-topic, but your accent is so soothing!
I’d love to listen to you narrating audiobooks. ♥️

Thaaaaank you!!! I’ve been seeing this all over tiktok and SEARCHING for it!!
As far as fake cooking kits go, I prefer Konapun. Sadly I think it doesn't exist anymore but you can see videos of it on youtube.
Im obsessed with the pot/actual toy! It reminds me of hello kitty
They actually do put NaCl on roads! (At least in america) But CaCl is useful too.
Ah interesting!! I somehow imagined that NaCl would be too expensive considering how much they can sell it for as food 😂
@@maqaroon
Girly pop where is salt expensive?
This reminds me of your old popping cooking videos, I miss them so much, they were so good
It looks really cute :D
do they harden over time?

Haha you're right 😂! Never realised that before but when I'm filming I do have 2 lamps coming from right side and only one lamp from the left.
Instead of calcium chloride, could you just dissolve table salt in the water? would it produce the same membrane effect?
It needs calcium to form the membrane, so foods containing calcium or compounds like calcium chloride/calcium lactate will work. Ann reardon from howtocookthat has a good video on it called 'chocolate sphericals molecular gastronomy' and she also uses the technique to make tiny egg yolks for miniature baking videos
I wish we had these kind of toys when I was a kid, but I 100% would try to eat the things, esp with the gel coming out 😂
This is so cool!
I think you should make a stress ball with it
This video is so relaxing
This seems really cool :0
I am in love with this video. Thank you.

Hello, the link you posted does not contain the pot, do you have another link or way to purchase?
Wow this is so cool❤
so cute
Yey goo Japan we love you
If it's the same material as the salt put on roads... could you technically use that salt once you run out of those packets?
Unfortunately I don't think that will work. I think it depends on the calcium (spherification works with calcium chloride or calcium lactate) and sodium chloride won't produce the same chemical reaction.
Woah those things are cool
I honestly always thought these things were edible 😂
Hi I love your video’s ❤️
Where did you buy it?also.what does it look like when you put it in the fridge for 24hrs?
Can you use NaCl and Calcium Alginate?
Clear gel is not on the food option? What about glass noodles?
OMG ITS SOO CUTEEEEE
35 minutes ago! I just know this will be good, I’ve always wanted you to get back to this kit! Love your vids keep it up!
can you try making a video on edible spherification?
im sorry, i may be hearing wrong, but why saying the toy is from korean but the box is clearly writtten in japanese? TwT
Wow❤😊🎉
Cool.😃😄😆😁
One question, will the gummy gel dry out if you leave them out?
Yeah, I had something similar to this when I was younger and it dried hard like glue. (But when the shapes dry out they do so unevenly and lose shape) ❤
I had something similar to this as a kid but it was a kit where you dissect aliens and they pop with slime
Where did you buy it.. please spill 🙏
Asians make the coolest toys I would've loved this as a kid. I wish the food was edible though like easy bake ovens used to be.
This is like a set up 😂 I mean what kid wouldn’t try to eat this lol
Where do you get this?
I wish that you could like recycle the goo kinda like Play-Doh that be really nice.
Hi, is it possible to hot glue glue onto a fabric and zip?
Well that's just neat. I want one with edibles tho
Name of the toy please
حلو كلش. 😂🌝
I want to try this soo bad
WHAT APP DO YOU USE TO TRANSLATE THE WORDS?
it's just google translate! the feature you see her using in this video is one available by default on the mobile app :)
Where are the countries you can buy the toy?
can you get refills for it?
Sooo u can make food with it?
I Love it
Ok
I Hope you'll find an edible kit sometime.
This kit kinda stirs up my intrusive thoughts. It may be suggested that you should never play this while hungry
can i use it for actual cooking
Can you please tell me what app on your phone you are using to translate japanese? Is there one like that for german?
She used Google Translate
I immobilised enzymes in biology class using this exact method. I didnt know people made toys from it
Wuts it called I need to buy it on and u just make me happy!
We bought that from the link about a year ago and it never came I was wondering if you knew why it took th money but never shipped?
Is it edible
What are the Korean tiktok screenshot you showed at the beginning from please credit them
And could you try to make like if u agree to melt elastic bands(no talkum powder ones) to make mochis
That shipping tho. Oof!! 😂 Time to save up.
I find this very relaxing but i can’t find any of these korean chanel she was talking about. Anyone knows what to search to find them?
Am i the only one who thought these stuff were edible at first-?
Pode comer ? Porque eu fiquei com vontade de comer 😅
I really love it, I've never seen that before!😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰
what was the app
Does anyone know where to get them?
