Your single, double, paradiddle exercise with the triplets in between is still my favorite exercise ever. I'm going to have to commit this to muscle memory too, I think.
@DrMackSplackem no the 3 part is first the way he's playing it. I know it's a bit confusing but it's about where the bar line is in a 2 bar phrase. It's easier to hear in son clave.
Yes I spotted it as the 3:2 Son Clave but was not confident enough to mention it because it might add confusion to beginners. You just have to know that the 3:2 clave is often mistaken as being a 2:3 clave. The reason is because after we hear the first two beats there is a seemingly perceived delay before we hear the nest series of 3 beats. If you listen real closely you will notice they are not equal distant apart. What you are really hearing is a tail end of the 2:3 clave inverted. It is well known for beginners (like myself) to mistake the 3:2 for the 2:3 clave.
Never tried this with the flams that looks good with working on the German grip we were discussing with the 1-1 lesson 🤘🏻. You got it up to speed lol damn
Good concept/lesson...I did consider the ghosts version as (including) triplets, but association with paradiddles could be OK, too... The flam version was too flam-heavy for me (matter of taste), and I prefer (at most) flams only at main clave accent points 1,2, and 3...but, again, this may be a matter of taste...it is still possible that an all-accent points flam pattern may be appropriate in some songs... Also, placing the clave accent points within a rhythm/groove on a cowbell, wood block, or tom (and then adding a downbeat) might be nice...I have not yet worked out the downbeat placement... Again, good concept/lesson…
You are playing the Rumba Clave. Means you play the 4 and. Not the 4 in the 3 Part of the Clave. Funny, your right hand plays the American grip and your left hand plays the German Grip. When you play single strokes with your right hand your stick is in one line with your arm. The left hand has the angle of the German grip. Maybe you are a lefti like me who plays like a right handed drummer. But your ideas of playing the clave on the drums are great.ThanX.
Thanks Mr. Rob. I really appreciate the dedication you provide to your viewers/students. The time and effort you put in explaining not just this lesson but all of your lessons. Much appreciated with gratitude. Phaedra from Philly 😊
Thanks for stealing my warm ups dude. I been doing these on my channel for years LOL. BTW The CLAVE is not a rhythm...it's a timeline structure. Peace.
It is clave. However it is a 3-2 Rumba clave there is also of course the2-3 rum a clave. AND the the son clave... Both being 2 bar phrases upon which the whole of Latin music is based surprise Rob didn't go into both sides of the 2 or 3 sided clave would make the exercise expand even more
@emigran7472 you're right, though there's more, especially with the extended usage of the term. I'm just pointing out the laziness of his explanation. He's not saying this is A clave but, that this phrase here is THE clave.
Hey y'all. You can download a free PDF of these cool exercises in the description box. Have fun with em!
Where can I get sticks like yours? Thanks for all your videos.👍👍

Beginner here, I'll say this is great practice for my up and down strokes with the accents.
Your single, double, paradiddle exercise with the triplets in between is still my favorite exercise ever. I'm going to have to commit this to muscle memory too, I think.
I must admit, you are a great teacher. May GOD continue to bless your channel.
Perfect Martian accent. Because your drumming is out of this world.

Wow, what a great lesson. Good job mister!!!
3:2 Rhumba clave to be exact. 😄
Great exercises!
You mean 2,3, right?

@@DrMackSplackem it's 3:2 rhumba clave for sure. 3 notes at the front with little bit delayed on the third note, 2 notes at the back.

Oh.... Mr. ROB, that metronome counter you have on your computer, can you share the app for that? Thanks
nice practice pad!
try to combine 3:2 rhumba clave(which is what you play) with 3:2 son clave and do also the counter direction.
Very cool excercises! I think these would make for good warm up excersizes as well. Really digging this!
Wicked warm up exercises, yea 👌🏽
@RobBeatdownBrown actually, I could hear some pretty sweet orchestrations around the kit as well. Just a great pattern!
Bored at church 🤣🤣🤣that's a good one Rob .
Way cool, thanks for the ideas! Cool exercise.
Hi! Cool metronome on the laptop💪🏻
Which app is it?

Actually , Rob, speed is important ! CAuse you doing it so fast i the slow demo, that i have to slow it down much more to understand :)))
Thanks Mr. Rob. I really appreciate the dedication you provide to your viewers/students. The time and effort you put in explaining not just this lesson but all of your lessons. Much appreciated with gratitude. Phaedra from Philly 😊

I enjoy your videos, Phil!

No, it's not called 'clave'. That's like saying that the thing you're playing is called a rhytm ..

What are those drum sticks pls
