Great reaction - and yes its fine tagging it as a reaction. You made it very clear in your intro that you already know the song and the video, I don't see any problem. I agree entirely, this song is one of their best and it is arguably the song that demonstrates best what BABYMETAL are all about. For more background into the video (and the fact Yui and Moa were playing and having fun while they were making it) watch the commentary video they made about it a couple of years later. While you're at it, watch the commentary videos they made for 'Doki Doki Morning', 'Iine', 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' and 'Headbanger' too. Also Prof AJ Hartley's video about the meaning of the song and the significance of the visuals etc in the video is very interesting (he has done videos for all of their songs - all well worth watching).
Yeah, I try to make things as clear as possible. I get seriously annoyed by click bait titles, so I try to be honest in everything I do. But autohmae suggested tagging as review, so I think using that or maybe both will be the way to go. Thank you for the suggestions about the commentary videos. I'll be sure to check them out. Think I've only seen snippets of one of them. You don't have some links laying around, do you? 😉 Searching is hard... 🤣 🤘🦊🤘❤️
@@FranksReactions Yes Review/Reaction would work (keep reaction in there so it shows up in searches for reactions). If I post a link it will be deleted - Buttons-Metal has put all five commentary videos together in one (he had to make the videos darker for copyright). Search '#BABYMETAL - Music Video Commentary For Doki Doki Morning, Iine!, Headbanger, IDZ & Megitsune' Alternatively, for the Megitsune commentary alone on a different channel search for 'BABYMETAL-Yui-Moa and Sumetal comment on their Video "MEGITSUNE"'
Thank you for that!! And you're right, a link might have been deleted. Even this comment of yours I had to go and manually approve. TH-cam is a strange place sometimes. Or often... 😉
True! Babymetal is VERY good on stage, but the do have some great music videos that are totally worth checking out. This is, as you say, one of those. 🤘🦊🤘❤️
⚡ 💀 💕 / 🦊 ⛩ To quote the BABYMETAL members in the audio commentary they did for this song: [MOA] SU-METAL will slash you. Really. [YUI] Yeah. [SU] (laughs). I agree with you. 'Megitsune' is really a quintessential BABYMETAL song. Along with 'Metali', one of their most japanese songs. The performers pretending to play the traditional instruments in this video are dancers with the Movement Design group. Chidori Yakumo is their director. She's the woman performing the fan dance during the breakdown. Much of the video was shot on a Noh stage in the Asagaya Shinmei Shrine in Tokyo. This has become a pilgrimmage site for BABYMETAL fans. I was able to visit it last March. : ) - It's fine with me if you tag videos like this as reactions. Especially if you start the video by mentioning if you've heard the song or seen the video before. That should clear up any confusion.
Some others have also mentioned that commentary. I need to find that and check them out. And thank you for providing that information. I thought about the dancer while I was watching the video and was going to ask about her, but I think I forgot. But that doesn't matter, because I have very nice viewers that share information freely. Love you! Also thanks for the feedback on the reaction-tagging. I like to be open and honest about stuff. So I'll see if I keep the reaction or change to review as someone else mentioned. Maybe both. We'll see. 🤘🦊🤘❤️
Great reaction, thanks! Yes, it counts as a reaction. And we appreciate you mentioned that you are already familiar with the song. Is there any info about the video? How much time do you have? Haha... as said, there is a priceless commentary video for this MV. I leave you here a few facts: - "Megitsune" is one of their most loved songs and their most played live one: 363 times... and counting! - It was released in June 2013. Su-metal was 15 years old while Yuimetal and Moametal were both 13 (about to turn 14) back then. - The style sub-genre is electronicore, a mix between electronica and metalcore with a hardcore style breakdown. - That breakdown hits hard and (apart of those pig squeals) the melody is from a well known Japanese folk song called "Sakura Sakura" (Cherry Blossoms). - The word "Megitsune" = "me" + "kitsune" which means female + fox so, vixen. Hence the "kitsune" masks everywhere. - BABYMETAL fans are known collectively as "The ONE" and "kitsune" / "megitsune" individually. - It took 36 demos to Takehiro Mamiya best known as Yuyoyuppe (or Yuppemetal), the song's arranger, until Kobametal (their producer) was 100% happy with the final product. It may sound crazy but this is why "Megitsune" is one of their best songs (if not the best). The MV locations have become pilgrimage destinations for fans around the world: - The stage where they are performing is called Nohgakudo (Noh theater) at Asagaya Shinmeigu Shrine in Tokyo. This is a stage where music and dances are performed during festivals. - The shrine right before the breakdown with the orange-ish torii gates is the famous Fushimi Inari-taisha in Kyoto. The girls were so happy that the director traveled to Kyoto just to film that sequence. I'm lucky enough to have visited both locations during my trip to Japan (among other incredible places) last February / March. 🤘🦊
Thank you so much for the info drop! I absolutely LOVE when you give of your time and share things like this. There were several things here I didn't knew. And I hope to get a vacation to Japan sometime in the next few years. Hoping to catch some concerts, both Babymetal and other bands, and also go on a Babymetal pilgrimage. Kitsune up!!! 🤘🦊🤘❤️
@@FranksReactions That sounds great!! Japan is incredible and I can't wait to return. Extra tip: they only open the Noh theater on weekends and national holidays (with good weather conditions). If closed, you can still see the construction but not the interior (the stage itself). It was very cool to see it in great company of two other usual commenters here. 😊
I suppose, by definition, it could be called a "reaction video" but with the caveat of it being a "reaction again" video. It is my opinion that many who indulge themselves in watching people react to anything, they do so to see how the reacter responds to a first-time viewing, and I think that when they see the word "reacts" or "reaction", they instinctively assume it is a first-time reaction. To watch someone "react" to something they have already reacted to before is like watching a movie a second time; it may be fun to watch but you already know how it's going to end. May I suggest using the phrases "First-time reaction" and perhaps "Re-reaction" (or even "Re-visits") just to clarify what is being shown? However you slice it, I, for one, appreciate your candor, and your appreciation of BABYMETAL; that's why I enjoy watching you react or even re-react to them, and the bottom line is it is your channel so you do as you see fit - I'm just here to watch the show. 😁 But since you have seen this before, did you notice when Moa fell down as she was coming down the hall toward the camera (at the 2:30 mark of the MV)? 🤣 Among my adventures down the foxhole, I discovered five videos in which Su, Yui, and Moa give a running commentary of five of the MV's: "Doki Doki Morning", "Iine!", "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!", "Megitsune", and "Ijime, Dame, Zettai". The link for the "Megitsune" commentary: th-cam.com/video/tXCC93Txtnw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Ya1Uvm6jrLLT7s_W You're a good egg, Mr. F. 😎 Keep rockin’ BABYMETAL!!! KITSUNE UP!!! 🤘🦊🤘
Someone else suggested I called it a review, so I think I will go with that or some combo of the two. We'll see. I'll also try to remember to mention it when I watch something I know from before. Doing my little bit to de-click bait TH-cam 😁 I've actually missed her falling down, but I love how she's sliding in from the right just a few seconds earlier. Yui and Moa are just SO fun to watch in this video. And thanks for the link! I'll be sure to check out those commentaries. Maybe it will become a commentary reaction? 🤣 KITSUNE UP! 🤘🦊🤘❤️
@@FranksReactions I would say "review" would be good, too. I would never deem you "click-bait"; just a teeny bit deceptive, but purely unintentional! And as for Moa falling down: you don't actually see her hit the floor but it is pretty apparent that she landed at the cameraman's feet! LOL! Regarding the BABYMETAL commentaries: I gave you the link to just "Megitsune". Yeah, they for sure do, and I absolutely HATE click bait titles. That's why I try to be honest in the title and that I also disclose if I've seen the video before. Maybe I'll use that title when I react to some live versions. 🤣😁🦊 I could probably do better on TH-cam by using all the tricks in the book, but I prefer to feel good about myself instead. And as I've mentioned before, this is a hobby for me. I try to take it as serious as possible and will do my best to keep as high a standard, also technically, as I can, but luckily I'm not doing this for a living. That wouldn't be much of a living. 🤣 🤘🦊🤘❤️
Nice one of the ultimate classic! Nothing wrong with titling it as a reaction video. Especially if you mention it’a not your first time hearing. Still a reaction (just not “a 1st reaction”). There is actually a video of Babymetal doing a commentary over this MV, you should check it out unless you already seen it! th-cam.com/video/tXCC93Txtnw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=OYtmndrH0Jb9t9eF 🤘🦊
I think what is common is to call this a review, a first time review was supposed to be the first song you are reacting to and react in general for first time seeing the song or a special performance. But some people add first time to get views/clicks, because some people really like shock value of first time Babymetal and other shock value acts. Babymetal has commentary videos of the early MVs and fans added English subtitles. Please react to that. Megitsune is maybe such a great song because of how many iterations it went through, even multiple people before Yuyoyuppe worked on it (a K-pop influence also existed). But Yuyoyuppe had made over 30 versions and some of the later versions had problems loading into his audio program, some kind of corruption happened.
Megistune often ranks #1 on fan polls as most loved song by fans. It is also the song performed live more than any other song (in part because it's older than Gimme Choco and Road of Resistance or Babymetal Death stopped being used in the era between Yuimetal and Momometal).
I think you just solved it for me with that suggestion, it's more of a review than a reaction. Thank you! It also gives me more freedom, cause I can prepare those videos in a whole different way, and maybe come up with more interesting facts and thoughts about the videos and songs. Grington also mentioned those commentaries in his comment. I'll be sure to check those out. Will be interesting. 30 versions!??! That's crazy! And that's bad if your songs get corrupted. I guess he might use the industry standard ProTools, and I follow a Twitch streamer that has had 20 minute rants about that software. 🤣 🤘🦊🤘❤️
That seems to be a good explanation of it being ranked highly. If a song isn't played as much, it will not be as popular. Thank you again for your insight and suggestions! 🤘🦊🤘❤️
