@Midwinter Minis Having worked with 2-part epoxy resins for automotive repair, resin garage kits, and wood working applications for almost 40 years, Mat is absolutely correct. Those syringe applicators suck. Whether you use the fast set 5 minute, or the slow set standard, separate tubes are far easier to use, and more precise. You can measure your amounts by squeezing out two equal length lines of resin and mixing them together on a piece of scrap plastic or cardboard, then apply to the model with a disposable brush or toothpick.

“I remember the first time i saw a titan. That...thing, could put fear into even a space marine. The ground shook as it took its first step. It then bellowed its horn , the sound was deafening, it charged up its volcano canon. Our sergeant told us to take cover but some of us were so in awe of it they didn’t. The cannon fired and I could see through my hands and some poor guys were just evaporated on the spot. We all got out of our dug outs and saw nothing more than a charred wasteland, we were all awestruck, some of us even burst into tears and some were sick. We felt worthless at the point, emperor knows why we still fight if a titan can destroy an entire army in a fraction of a second.”- unknown guardsman

Not only were the gundam models more complex with joint articulation, they were also snap fit with no warping of the plastic to trim or fix. Seeing just how...rustic this $k model is makes me wonder how on earth did GWS's figurine division survived to this day.

I'm getting a commission to build one of these obnoxiously massive lads, cheers for the videos breaking down what actually has to be done.
Edit, to make the magnets work better on the smaller Reaver titan, I went with 3 10x2mm in either section of the arm peice of a reaver to make sure they kept their strength on any angle. You'll want to go stronger than that, likewise I magnetised the waist using 50mm magnets, so you may need more and larger magnets for a model as large as that.

A tip for that kind of two-part epoxy glue. Save up any little disposable plastic tubs you would otherwise throw away like yoghurt pots, I especially like these little oval plastic dishes that soup stock comes in. Use them to mix the glue in and only mix a bit at a time as yes it will start to set within minutes of mixing. Then just throw the solidified mess away afterwards.

Hey, on the JB Weld, I do have a tip for you. I've never watched your channel before, this is my first video from you I've seen, and I've not gotten to buy and make any models for 40K yet, as I'm fairly new to getting into the physical part of the hobby, but I've used that type of adhesive before for multiple practical applications outside of hobbies. NEVER buy the combination tubes of that stuff unless you're working on something much larger than a 40K model. The stuff sets incredibly quickly once the separate compounds are mixed, as I'm sure you noticed, so buy the more practical packs that have the two different compounds in separate tubes. And since those tubes are made for dispensing smaller amounts of the component compounds, it's much more manageable for smaller things such as models and other hobby applications, unless you're making a large scale model of an entire landscape with permanent fixtures that need to be adhered onto the base. My other tip regarding that type of adhesive is to always mix it on something you don't care about if it sets before you can finish using it. A torn off piece of a cardboard box, an old piece of scrap wood, etc. Because once that stuff sets, it's almost impossible to clean it off of what you put it on.
I understand if you don't see this, but don't write off that type of adhesive for one bad experience! The form you bought it in just isn't suited to your needs, and it's your first time using it. It's a damn powerful adhesive, and very useful both in hobbies and practical applications, so don't write it off if you don't have to. Especially since it can bond things more conventional glues have difficulty adhering to.

One tip I read when using resin and super glue, if you score with a knife or scalpel the contact surfaces you are planning to use super glue with, it gives the glue something better to grip and holds firmer than smooth surface to smooth surface. So those finger joints and when you do the toes would be a suggestion.

For items like the wrist, you can use large ring magnets with metal rods so that you can position them and effectively ignore shear force. This will still allow you to rotate the joint, but they won't come apart easily. (Be aware you need strong glue, but sometimes the bond will be stronger than the resin.... which can produce issues.)

you can always use 2-5 smaller magnets (1.5-5mm) in a small circle/triangle or whatever you need to make it equal, or to assist other larger magnets to have stepped poses instead of infinite rotation, and id recommend a Dremel as well, since they can spin slower and wont melt the hole youre drilling as easily, and are far easer to wield

Any epoxy glue like that will work great, u can get clear ones, and u can get them in different tubes also instead of those syringe style ones, but u’ll need to mix and try to get the mixture correct, the syringe pushing both out the same time makes it easy to get accurately 50/50 mix ☺️

I've recently been listening to "Mechanicus" (the Horus Heresy novel) on Audible. As someone who plays Iron Warriors, and adores the Adeptus Mechanicus' lore, "reading about" the Martian Civil War was an obvious choice for me. There are also plenty of Titans in the book, too!
Great story, great characters, great detail, great narration, great pacing. Highly recommend for any Ad Mech fans. :)

You should investigate accelerator for the superglue- you put glue on one part, accelerator on the other and they stick pretty much instantly. Also you can use baking soda and superglue as filler.

My fave cheap file trick is to buy fine graded wet and dry sandpaper and cut strips of it to glue to card or double sided tape. That way I can make files to whatever size I want and have them bend around parts without them ripping easily.

I never expected a semi-competent modeler to apply an obvious two-part adhesive straight to a surface, haha. I find it really helpful to buy the packages of mini portion cups and a bunch of tongue depressors to mix any kind of 2-part adhesives, epoxies, or anything else I don't want on a palette

My horror when you put the JB weld directly on the model without mixing first! 😱
JB Kwik (fast setting version of normal stuff) is amazimg for securely bonding together heavy, or load bearing parts. Just use superglue for smaller stuff, with optional baking powder to cement it together for good :)

I use that JB plastic bonder style two part epoxy at work. You should get a disposable mixing nozzle.
They mix it in the nozzle and have a fine tip.

Epoxy resins you have to work somewhat quickly with. Once the two precursors mix, you've basically started a chemical timer. On the plus side, the bonds are suuuper strong.

First time with epoxy or other mixing components glues is always a shock. Next time remember that a syringe dispenser help you in pression and vaacum effect too. To avoid extra or sudden leaks and other annoying effects act thinking that you can push or pull pistons and the managing of these twin-components stuff will be much easier.

A great look at self, AI, space travel and cloning among other things. It also has a very warm sense of humor.

Now that your journey has begun just wait till you want all the weapon and head options.... At this rate you are probably gonna be finished painting your warlord before I even start painting mine. I would recommend just using regular JB weld and quick weld since they come in separate tubes so you would waste less epoxy. Also dry fit everything and look at the pretty pictures to make sure the finger debacle doesn't happen again.
Also if you want some magnet dimensions I used on my warlord I could reply to this with the list of magnets I used.
