Parker W the tang is the bit of metal running down from the blade into the hilt. The normal procedure to fit a hilt and guard for a sword is you modify the guard and hilt until the tang fits and sticks on its own friction and is held on by the pommel. This guy edited the tang to fit the guard and hilt, weakening the tang. That hole he drilled means that it cannot be used at all and is purely an ornamental sword. If used, the tang will snap and the sword will fly free of the hilt.

Yes, corrosion looks like shit. Occasionally a nice patina is justified but straight up heavy rust is unwanted, unhealthy and damaging to the metal unless removed.

It was cool to see his process but of course its not really ancient guys. Looks like some one else's project that got given up on or forgotten. That said even with tempering, he didnt put any type of finish on so it could look just as bad if left outside a year or two.
Disregard any negative comments. That blade is a masterpiece. The only thing I don’t like is a completely metal handle. Wood with metal accents is functional & gorgeous. Keep up the great work, friend👍

The restoration is excellent I appreciate the effort required to do this type of work. However the sword profile does not match any persian styled sword. Also I agree that once you drilled the tang the sword became ornamental. However it is a great restoration. Thanks
He is very skilled but I’m fairly certain that he makes these blades before hand puts them in a solution and leaves them to rust and them cleans them and just finishes them.

He is very skilled but I’m fairly certain that he makes these blades before hand puts them in a solution and leaves them to rust and them cleans them and just finishes them.
juan campos I doubt it with some of the pit sizes in the metal. Even if he does, people are enjoying the videos
