Yeah katanas have a different handle almost always but the blade has to much of a sharp curve normally katanas has a much more natural and smooth curve I haven’t actually seen a katana up close I have only seen pictures so I could be wrong
Could of been a cheap knock off made by someone in a hurry historically speaking some Japanese forces refused to acknowledge the war was over up till the 70’s so depending where he’s at it could be one of those types of items they made in a hurry. 🤷🏻♀️
This isn't the best restoration I've ever seen, but there was an immense amount of effort and care put into this with limited tools, and it takes a lot to create content, so I respect this work

@@colinmoore7460 it was a lame attempt to deflect from incoming fire from the obvious clickbait title. That thing was never a japanese sword to begin with, let alone any kind of sword.
This is basically the bare minimum. Perfection would have been taking the time to polish the blade more, clean up that tsuba, use pins instead of epoxy, and wrapping the handle.
@@serger7740 There is no way a real Japanese sword smith would hammered the curve into the blade which is obvious is was hammered into a curve. If it was made by a Japanese sword smith that curve would occur naturally as they fold and hammer the metal.
We all know there's a slight chance that this blade was covered in someone's blood in the past. I'm not saying it actually is. Just saying it could be by chance or maybe not.
@nonooonoonnonoo nonooonoonnonoo this is obviously something he made himself. First off, no folding in the blade, second the bends in the tang and the blade itself are machine done, third the tang itself is way too thin, fourth there would be a japanese signature on the tang itself, fifth the handle both before and after wouldn't be made like that and the tang itself wouldn't have holes for glue in it. And sixth/seventh in no ones right mind would anybody believe that that is an actual katana from any time period. Stay cultured my friends.
I collect katanas that are certified some over 600 years old . In some cases to test the sharpness they would take prisoners (hopefully dead and would cut though them my blade is a 2 body blade I have read some were up to 4 bodies deep cut with one stroke 😳 this all documented in the certification. Creepy but true
I know for a fact that the "swords" he is showing suckn they would break in a fight. I use real weapons in my training, I practice hema and iado. Also if he would try this to an actual old sword it would immediately lose all value
@@justartwithmari4317 I was making a reference to the movie Kill Bill as a joke. The channel is called Random Hands. Another good one is LADB Restorations.

It's not tolerant, better use just smith.)
@@aidanoleary8403 agreed, good effort but amateur..
I applaud. It's perfect for me. You who comment on it: Show your work. Arrogant clowns.
This is basically the bare minimum. Perfection would have been taking the time to polish the blade more, clean up that tsuba, use pins instead of epoxy, and wrapping the handle.
Excellent the lost-wax casting process. I remembered my studies of manufacturing processes. Good job.
Handle was super cool...
Kept wondering, "WTF is he doing?"
That turned out amaizing
Is this a real Japanese sword? Then the knife in my kitchen is King Arthur's sword. Lol
@@serger7740 There is no way a real Japanese sword smith would hammered the curve into the blade which is obvious is was hammered into a curve. If it was made by a Japanese sword smith that curve would occur naturally as they fold and hammer the metal.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
@@meatpuppet7712 middle eastern swords also have curves
@@naveedbinumar7836 scimitar and things like that are forged differently than katanas still
Use it to fight valiantly my good sir! Lolol
I think this is the first restoration video I've watched where the item being restored looked better when it was rusty
He basically destroyed it.
This guy is so legit. So many techniques. Amazing.
Хвостовик слабоват...
shank is weak
Good job buddy🔥
Love the restoration, big time sword lover... any sword really I will watch ur vids always keep up the great work man.
Man, watching you work is so meditative....I am growing this passion slowly, will catchup 🙏
When i saw the final polished handle, i am pretty sure when you swing it hard you will drop it from your hand cuz no fabric rope twisted on it...
Fake sword or not but it has definitely been used so you could be true
I collect katanas that are certified some over 600 years old . In some cases to test the sharpness they would take prisoners (hopefully dead and would cut though them my blade is a 2 body blade I have read some were up to 4 bodies deep cut with one stroke 😳 this all documented in the certification. Creepy but true
hi
This is just homemade junk. It's not an actual real antique military sword.
Finally I see someone being careful with grinders without gloves. It hurts I'm telling you
Theres way more ending stuff in here than this
刀ではなく大きな魚を捌く際に使う包丁の一種ですね。
綺麗に磨き上げて良いと思います。
☺
Beautiful craftsmanship by a truly awed onlooker. !!!!!!
Le everyone: so satisfying
Le me: where is he getting those knifes and swords from:)
Those things he's showing are fake reproductions of real weapons and he is lying to all
Shut up Matthew you don't know anything
@@priyotoshdas7963 and you know everything? 😂
何
I know for a fact that the "swords" he is showing suckn they would break in a fight. I use real weapons in my training, I practice hema and iado. Also if he would try this to an actual old sword it would immediately lose all value
Great job. Although everyone knows the absolute best swords are those made by Hattori Hanzo.
I didn't know that
@@justartwithmari4317 I was making a reference to the movie Kill Bill as a joke. The channel is called Random Hands. Another good one is LADB Restorations.
One question: Does the handle has a good grip? Because you didn't used the traditional wrapping, which gives the handle/tsuka a really nice grip, instead you made wood with metal, and I'm curious if it is good.
no one cares
To tell you the truth, the wood/metal grip is sattisfactory, but the traditional wrapping gives a little bit more control and stability for moves.
Yeah, I know. Andit is a bit easier and takes less time to make than diamond-shaped metal parts. And the wrapping looks cooler as well-
the video is about how you can turn rusted metal into something shiny, nobody is going to use this sword.
weeb lol
Man that was super satisfying to watch
